I was having a great experience throughout the store and every employee was super helpful. until I had to pay through self checkout and I was HARASSED by an employee by the name of shamima. The whole time I was scanning my stuff she was right behind me observing me. Unfortunately, this is NOT the first or second time she’s done this to me. I don’t understand how this store allows such poor behavior by employees.

Great place to come if you want to be treated like you stole something. The store offers self check out but you always have some customer service rep breathing down my neck like I'm a thief. Literally came to buy 1 pack of light bulbs and still treated like this. Not a pleasant experience.

Nice spot, had to come to this one because the home depot and Lowe's near me didn't have what I needed. I like the app because it basically tells me where I can find the product, down to the aisle, and I can be my introverted self.

Staff is friendly but thin on the ground. Hard to find things even with the Home Depot app. Lines are usually pretty short and the staff assisting with checkout are patient and efficient.

My Home Depot, in Foster City, listened to my concerns and assigned me to a registered person who would take care of assisting people with home problems and in our case putting together shelving for us and some clean up in our garage. It was a good experience, as he also helped get rid of a lot "STUFF" that we were planning to do later. What a big help and a professional worker. Our guy was Yosi Bentov and his "Level Contractor Company". Thanks, Home Depot.

We had to drop by twice to get items to finish a project. All the employees were helpful and greeted us as we came into the store. They assisted with finding what we needed and one actually escorted us to the register carrying our purchase.

Half of workers here are very rude. They don’t care much about their customers. Other Home Depot locations have better services than this place. Corporate needs to evaluate this location. This is unacceptable. There are more people willing to work and conduct the professionalism that is important for customer service.

March 2025 - re YOUR KIND SERVICE. Thank you Home Depot for helping me with the delivery of just two bags of mulch, a greatly insignificant transaction. As a senior citizen that uses daily gardening to keep the doctors away, Home Depot is an important store for me. Furthermore I noticed that you outsource the delivery to individual driver who is not young anymore and is very considerate and helpful. It’s a wonderful policy. Yes people label us the Silver Tsunami but Home Depot should work with us because like everyone else we pay tax and contribute to our economy. Thank you Home Depot. Please seriously consider and develop business solutions with the seniors and retirees. We work not too fast but very carefully.

I say ugh. BUT UPDATE: THANK YOU JOSH TODAY FOR YOUR HELP .! With two kids and dog, was super grateful for his help today in garden, even though I don't think it was his dept,I was just bothersome. Thank you! ... the closest place for anything you need for home products in Foster City except for the closeness and the plants offered, and paint help, awesome. I'm still pissed off because I have a 19% APR self-checkout cashier decided to refund, not to cancel, which is still accumulating on my balance to this day, a year later....who is paying that? ('I'm sorry Miss')..... Amazon may not be the greatest for home cleaning supplies delivery in time in Foster City, but, at least they handle your future debt correct! And, especially because it's cheaper by 5X (at amazon), when you factor in mishaps of cashiers at home Depot . Thank you for all plants.

Great selection of Christmas trees at this Home Depot. Had great and quick customer service. One employee who was very kind and helpful was David. He did a great job putting up our Christmas tree on our car. I would recommend going to Home Depot for Christmas trees especially last minute.

Always get great help here, but today Eric and his coworkers went out of their way to get me what I needed for a home improvement project. Eric even took the time to show me how to use a new tool and made sure I got the right one. Exceptionally helpful! Thank you!

RATS RATS RATS RATS RATS I went into the Garden Center and I saw something out of the corner of my eye run across the floor. I turn around and see an ENORMOUS black rat, the body is the size of a Chihuahua! I attempted to grab a lid from the top shelf a rat slips down right past my head and squeals. I am totally freaked out and I saw an employee and asked for help getting the lids because I was absolutely frightened of the rats. He apologized profusely and assured me he would talk to management. I hear another squeal and I turn around and look up and there are four more rats feasting on bird seeds. This is absolutely horrific. There were small children walking around the garden center. Employees are forced to work in an unsanitary working environment. How can this store still be open?! I was in the garden center for a matter of minutes and I encountered at least 20 rats. SHAME ON HOME DEPOT!!!

I came at 7:45am on a Monday morning to rent a jackhammer. There were 3 persons ahead of me, but it took almost 45mns to get the equipment. The person at the desk was friendly but clearly overwhelmed. He did not seem to have any sense of urgency. And on top of this, the computer software had glitches, and he could not get any help from any one at the store. On the issue of pricing, I was not very happy with the added mandatory fee (some sort of insurance). I surely could have rented from an independent shop for cheaper and with a better service

This Home Depot is phenomenal - phenomenally bad. I consistently come here to get simple things (e.g. sharpening file, 3-in-1 oil, low watt lightbulbs) and walk out empty handed. And yes, I do ask workers to help locate things for me. Speaking of workers, it's actually faster to look things up on my phone instead of asking them to locate things for me. This isn't to disparage the employees - HD probably doesn't pay them enough to care. Oh and when the store does happen to have have what I need, it turns out I can't use my boyfriend's "store credit" card because it is linked to his ID. I acknowledge this information is printed on the card but it adds to the frustration of nothing going smoothly here. Lastly, why is the parking lot always so crazy here? It feels like there is never enough space for the: 1) cars, 2) workers/contractors pushing large carts, and 3) general pedestrians equally as frustrated as I am to be moving through such a chaotic space in a safe way. Hardware stores also typically have larger spaces to accommodate larger vehicles but that doesn't seem to exist here. I have been coming to this HD for 20 years and it used to be a lot better. I'm happy to know that others don't have the same experiences as I do but I will not be returning here.

I'd be hesitant to ever make a large purchase from them again as they use an installer vendor called "Go Configure" which is absolute garbage. The installer never even showed up to the appointment. I gave Home Depot 4 stars only because their customer service gave me a refund and discount on the order.

I recently just visited this Home Depot store and could not find the young gentlemen who assisted me before. His name was Bernardo I can remember. Bernardo went above and beyond to help me locate all the items I need to redesign my condo. Bernardo was very polite and knowledgeable. He was patient and provided me with excellent customer service. Sad to find he is no longer employed here. But I did find what I needed in the end. Thank you Bernardo the stars are for your service! (:

After using them for a year, you can definitely expect half your deliveries to get botched, don’t expect them to honor any time line. If you place an order for pickup, don’t expect it to be ready in 12 hours, even if it’s a roll of tape. I don’t think corporate pays any attention to this metrix, store is best for picking up stuff your self. Other. Than that, they’re worthless.

Frankly, this is the poorest run Home Depot in the Bay area. It is very common for things to show as in stock online, but then in the store it's neither on the shelf nor above. And nobody can find it. Or another one is an item will have no listed location in the store, and the staff can't find it either. Yet the home Depot in San Carlos has it. This happens over and over again. I just need to drive a little further and go to San Carlos every time. Frankly home Depot needs to look into why the San Mateo is so poorly run. San Carlos is a real Home Depot, San Mateo is not up to standard.

The Home Depot in San Mateo is conveniently situated. I placed a drive-up order and, while searching for designated spots, observed a limited number of drive-up parking spaces. It would be beneficial if they had more available. After notifying the app about my wait, I had to input my parking spot number and car details. Although the app instructed me to wait, it failed to specify the expected wait time for assistance. Regrettably, there was a substantial delay in receiving my order, and I couldn't contact anyone from the car due to insufficient details at the parking spot.

Home Depot in San Mateo has been my go to home supplies, construction, garden, and paint store for many years. I enjoy shopping for all of my home improvement materials at this store because it feels better organized and respectful to customers. I appreciate the dedicated employees who are always helpful and willing to help whenever I have a question.

This store feels smaller than the one in San Carlos, but usually suffices when it comes to finding what I need. Although things like concrete retaining wall blocks are less expensive than some other stores, they don't deliver. Ordering things online is another option for those that don't have a large truck to haul things home or to your job site. They use a 3rd party delivery service so don't expect much. My last delivery did have damaged parts within the kit, so buyer beware! As a big box hardware store.... you get what you get. Best to pick up in person so that you can inspect each item personally. Happy building!

I love this Home Depot! They have a great nursery where my family and I buy all our plants from. I ordered my beautiful custom blinds from this Home Depot. A month after ordering the blinds, the installers came to my house and were finished in under 10 minutes. The staff are always helpful and respectful. In 15 years I have never had any reason to complain. Customer for life!

You’re better off searching online at Home Depot’s website or using the app instead of asking staff where anything is.I asked 3 people where the fiberglass repair sheets are. They sent me all over the store. I only found them by looking online. Self checkout staff seem distracted and talking amongst themselves.

I bought a GE washer and dryer comb offline but I needed to go into Home Depot and grab a gas line, vent duck, and adapters to connect to gas line. As I looked for these products I was passed by several Home Depot employees and no one asked me if I needed helped. After about 25min I was able to find the correct parts. As I proceeded to self checkout there was a small line with several Home Depot employees they were standing around talking and telling people which checkout stations to use. When it was my turn an employee by the name of Cecilia decided that I looked suspicious so she wanted to scan my items. She walked me over to a checkout where there is a customer finishing up his own checkout without assistance. I had five small items and she scanned them all then proceeded to rescan some of them after I told her she already scanned those. Then she took the items placed on the counter and counted them again then checked the monitor again. Then she proceeded to rush me to pay i asked her can I put my pro rewards info in. So as I am entering my info she stands and just watches me , once I get to the credit card part she asked me is there a problem. I then told her yes . I don’t need help and I never asked for help to check out , you are not doing this to anybody else. She gets an attitude and stands away from me but continues to watch me as I pay. I am a business owner and spend a lot of money in Home Depot every year. this is the second time in less than two months I have had experienced discrimination in two different locations this San Mateo #0632 and Union City location. This store was not organized for items that should be in the same area and the customer service sucks, everyone she be treated the same no matter the color of their skin. Having someone treat you like you are going to steal is very disrespectful, I wouldn’t shop at this Home Depot again and maybe that is what you guys are aiming for to not have people of color in this location.

What a headache - Be warned, pass on this I wish I would have purchased from a different location and purchased a different product. The quality is ok to low and assembly will take longer then what the box says. They shipped the wrong sofa and in order to get the right one, I had to return the product. That means all the work I did was wasted. I was told by Home Depot that Hampton Bay would reach out to me... they did not. I had to talk to 4 agents at Home Depot before I was given this only options. Ended up buying elsewhere. Sad.

Good deal on a $20 truck rental for 75 mins unlimited mileage but need proof of insurance and have to return full with a gas receipt. Otherwise the you get charged $15 fee + $6.50 per gallon.
