Max Auto Salvage really came through for us. We were looking for a chevy tahoe power steering gear box they had it & helped us by removing for us!! And didn't over charge us!! We'll be coming back for sure!!

Be aware when purchasing anything from this business!! They had an engine listed for an older pickup truck, when I called to check on the condition prior to making plans to pick it up I was told the engine was in “perfect condition” therefore I made the THREE HOUR drive to Arroyo Grande. Upon showing up to pick it up the associate says “they told you it was cracked, right?” However that contradicts the “perfect condition” that was mentioned to me on the phone prior to arriving. He then proceeded to say “that’s why we’re selling it so cheap” cheap being 1500 dollars. The associate was unapologetic and rude upon being told we were assured it was in “perfect condition” prior to making the long drive and he could not have cared any less. Be aware.
They charge me for a transmission that they said they had in stock a whole month went by and then they said they don't have the transmission anymore. It's been two months now and they still haven't returned my money. They are scam artist. Be careful
customer service is terrible bought quote on quote ‘silverado’ rims n a day later i try to install them just to find out they’re colorado rims and don’t fit . completely misleading information from them and the best they can do is offer is credit for their mess up it’s outrageous
Bought an engine on Jan 03, 2023 from these folks. I drove 4 1/2 hours to get it. The motor was guaranteed to be good.
The person who was to install the motor for me while I recovered from back surgery backed out on me, so I’m having to install it myself. After replacing gaskets & thermostat to eliminate leaks, while bolting up the torque converter to the flywheel, (while still on the ground) the engine rotates by hand 1/4 turn, stops with a loud tick, and will not rotate any further.
I’ve made 6 phone calls today alone, and no one answers. I also sent a Facebook message and so far have gotten no response.
Don’t forget to submit a Release of Liability when selling a vehicle to these (or any salvage shop) folks, because they just might turn around and sell it to someone else. That was never mentioned at time of sale. Anything traffic-violation-related could happen and it’ll be billed to you since you’re still the registered owner!
I called ahead of time looking for a bmw hood. I was told no problem they had a few. When I arrived and asked again I was told to look around in the back. After 45 mins of climbing over cars so tightly packed together I rarely saw ground I asked again and was told they didn't have any... Walking to my car not only empty handed but 3 hours and half a tank of gas I'll never get back
Went here to get a transmission and after installing it realize that it wasn't 100% operational so call them up and they said no problem and even though my receipt said no returns only yard credit they still refunded my money. Seems like a great place to do business
Max its a great preson to do bussines with, when it comes to junk parts there is no one else i would go to being a professional technician i know what im always looking for and im able to find it there!!!
I sold my Honda Accord to these people. A few months later I get a renewal notice in the mail because they never registered the vehicle. Then we get a call from the Police Department that the vehicle has been found abandoned on the side of the road. We now have a huge headache to deal with. Absolutely horrible! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
Wasn't thrilled with the treatment of their customers. It wasn't just me they helped, but a few ahead of myself. So I watched them treat them as if we weren't their bread and butter, but as an inconvenience. I really wish that companies such as this would understand one thing.
If it wasn't for us buying your parts you wouldn't be here to treat us in any way. They have ok pricing on their parts. I will do business here again. Because they do have a lot of stuff. They aren't greedy so that was nice. It could have been worse I am sure. I do recommend them. Just hope they start treating everyone equally. **I must say I went back and they have gotten so much better! The cost of replacement glass is unbeatable!! Keep it up guys! Well on the right track!

I have bought jeep parts and Pontiac. I am white...no racial issues....ever. respect gets respect. Fair pricing...I had a window motor fail and they replaced it asap.
I called looking for a back seat. Ray said 'Dude, you gotta come check on it yourself'. I said 'I'm 400 miles away. That's not going to happen'. He hung up without a word. I'd go back and try someone else there, but given the other reviews I'm not taking my chances here.
We were having the week from hell and my wife had to source the part for me. But thankfully these guys were very helpful and courteous to her, we got the right part and got the job done!
Bought a part for my Pickup truck it fast and with no problem. They helped me looked for it and take it off. They were never racist or mean like most people say i would recommend them any day.
Bought a transmission from them with a 90 day warranty, transmission failed and call back before warranty ended. They would not call back or try to solve the issue, note I'm a repair shop now losing money because they wont back up their warranty service. I had to fix customer vehicle and wanted to see if I can get at least part refunded $80 dollars , but they said they couldn't help at all. I wouldn't recommend to anyone

No proper response from Rep guy RAY. The only thing I can really say about this place is just how negative of an experience. I called them 3 times, and all 3 times was so incredibly rude. Very short with me, when he mis-spoke, raised his voice at me like I had done something wrong. So buyer beware; you may leave with the part you wanted, but there's a good chance you'll be in a worse mood than when you call. I don''t want to give even a single star.
my wife was in a bumper to bumper accident in which I needed a specific part of the interior side panel. I called max auto and asked if they had the vehicle and if they could cut out a specific spot for me...they had no problem cutting it out, it took less than 15 minutes...I payed with a check and they were really nice to me...I notice some people said they are racist but im white and they treated me fine.... not very talkative but im not there to conversate....max auto salvage treated me great,
My Partner Frank needed a tail light assembly for his 89 Honda Civic. After several tries thru a repair shop in Atascadero, he was referred to Max and called. Ray said he was sure he had the part in good condition. So we drove down with a day's warning and sure enough Ray had the part and quoted the price and the cost of them installing it in the car. The price was fair and It worked fine. No animosity at all from Ray or the guy who installed it. No feeling at all of any racial problems since we were white. Everything was very business like and done without wasting time. I looked in awe at the huge forklift picking up a junker and bringing it to a shop, and stayed out of its way. Our visit was in June, 2015
