If you’re bringing scrap to SA Recycling, it’s important to know how the process works to get the best value for your materials. For unsorted scrap, enter on the left side at the drive-up scale, where your entire load will be weighed together. This is the quickest option but may result in a lower payout since mixed materials often get categorized at lower rates. If you want to maximize your payout, you’re much better off entering on the right side, where you can sort your scrap into the designated bins. SA Recycling provides labeled containers for different metals, and proper sorting can significantly increase your return. To make the most of your trip, bring a magnet to separate ferrous (magnetic) metals like iron and steel from non-ferrous (non-magnetic) metals like aluminum, copper, and brass, which are typically more valuable. • Copper: Separate clean copper from insulated copper wire, as bare copper fetches a much higher price. • Brass: Keep solid brass separate from brass with attachments like plastic or steel. • Aluminum: Clean aluminum (without paint or rivets) is worth more than mixed or contaminated aluminum. • Motors & Transformers: These contain valuable copper but may require additional processing. • Mixed Metals: Try to separate any items that contain multiple types of metals or plastics, as mixed loads often receive lower pricing. • Stainless Steel & Other Specialty Metals: If you have stainless steel, lead, or other specialty metals, it’s worth asking for separate pricing. The staff here is generally helpful, especially if you’re respectful and ask questions. There’s a guy who works here regularly who goes out of his way to help—if you’re friendly, he’ll ensure your scrap is sorted correctly, which can make a big difference in what you get paid.

They are so riddled with theft it makes it impossible to do real business. 3 day hold for car batteries, no cat converters, and copper was also a pain. I'll let somebody else deal with my recycling or just throw it in the trash

Took old refrigerator, wall heater and cook top vent, very easy to get in and out. Even made $6.00 to get rid of these old items and they aid me.

Price for copper is lower than other spots and they pay romex #1 ICW at 75% adjustment which in turns is $1.40 and $2.65 for pure copper

Easy and easy out. If you have a lot of metal you won't get much money for it but it's a great way to get it recycled. If you have copper, aluminum, or brass they give you more money for it and you use the entrance on the right side. For a truckload of metal, go on to the scale so they can weigh you and again after you empty your load when you so they can pay you.

Excellent customer service. I had a load of scrap wire from work to drop off. Antonio was very polite and helped me through the whole process. Will definitely come here again.

We have two sides of one side is for commercial and the other side if for non commercial . They take every kind of metal aluminum, aluminum furniture, aluminum siding, copper piping, copper wire, brass, brass piping can you use for sinks, steel of all kinds. You take it all they weigh it do you have to wait 3 days to get. But it's worth it nothing go back in the landfillsall get reuse and recycling.

I went to SA Recycling due to the proximity to my house. I was weighed in forced to unload my own load without any assistance. Afterwards I was given a receipt for tin when it was actually aluminum. I was then told to wait on the street. I waited 15 minutes and everyone else left I then went to find that the place had closed for the day. I was not paid for my items. Do not go here.

I called several recycling facilities in San Diego looking for the best price on copper, brass, clean aluminum and painted aluminum. My fiance' and I arrived at SA about 11:30 a.m. today (Saturday). Though the attendent separated my aluminum and weighed 3 different lots of it, (some was clean, some painted and so on), it ended up being ALL combined as "painted aluminum" and I was given the price for "painted aluminum" on all of it. By the time we had been paid by the cashier and studied the receipt (discovering how we had been "duped") it was of course to late to return (they close at noon on Saturdays) and discuss it with anyone. This seemed VERY PLANNED. And WE WILL NOT return.
