I have brought my recycling here for a few years now with no issues. Enjoyed the friendliness and efficiency. This last time I brought my husband with me for the first time and in the end left being confused. We were informed that the plastics we brought in is ‘just trash’ and was informed that we could leave it in their garbage cans. It was a variety of sorted #3, #4, #5, and #6. I’m honestly just confused why I have been able to bring my recycling here for over a year with no issues, but was informed today that they only accept CRV drinkables. They have the variety of plastics they accept listed right next to where we were told otherwise. Idk if they changed their recycling policy in the month since I last recycled here, but if they no longer accept non-crv items they should remove the conflicting sign and information from their website. We will find a new location to take our plastics. :(
Don’t come here, I just took my copper and got completely ripped off, I know I had over 700 pounds of copper we weighed before coming, on the receipt it said 848 pounds after signing and everything what we got paid didn’t make sense and after asking we were told the container weighed 530, long story short don’t come here at all. We got paid for 310 pounds only.
Very nice and professional staff, always a pleasure to come here(except when the porta potty truck shows up). I would also like to add that Safeway has never ripped me off or stolen anything from me. Their scales are accurate and they always weigh my material correctly and pay me a fair price. After seeing some negative reviews about people saying they had been cheated, just wanted to share my experience.
Don’t go here unless you want your tires flat. Your recycling money will go towards replacing your tires. What I swept up as a CUSTOMER from just two of their parking spaces. No compensation or anything. Would go somewhere else if there was a closer recycling location.
Do not go here unless you want your tires on your vehicle to go flat. Second time in a row that my tire catches a metal. I made $35 by replacing and that's exactly how much I payed to get my tire fixed. I asked the business if they could pay for it; they said no just be careful. How is that even possible?
I've been going to Safe Way Recycling for over a year. Have been on the scale before, and haven't had any problems, until Wednesday 10/30/2024 when I weighed out at 9280 of HMS Metal #1, and tared at 8300. I was told that because I didn't wait for the cashier to tell me to go, I was only paid for 700 lbs. They stole 280 lbs. That's $16. Also, how can a business that has at least 50 percent negative one star reviews bost a 3.8 stars.
People call around to at least 5 different places before you decide to bring your copper hereI used to think they were the best but I been fooled to think they were giving the best prices but I found out first hand that's not the casei called for bright shinny copper wire this place is paying at the moment 2.76
Right down the street they offer 3.10 at Augustine metals and with in 10
Miles if I choose to make the drive I found they offer 3.50 at global recycling so please don't trust SA recycling to have your best interest by giving you top dollar for your copper
4/6/2024 Saturday I’ve been coming here for years I got here today at4:46 pm 14 minutes before they close and had a rude employee of Safeway blocking the entrance with a forklift telling to go home that is a holiday I tried explaining that google is still saying closing soon and they are still open and I traveled to get there on time and he ignored me and still yelling go home. Im very disappointed by the horrible experience and service.
I used to get around $35.00 for my CRV recycling at Augustine Metals and replanet. Safeway has paid me only around $25 each the 2 times I went there, approximately the same amount of containers.
They don't let you see the totals on the scale, so something is wrong there. I will count my containers before (if) I go there again to see if they are honest.
If you have 50 or less, you can request that they count your containers individually. I will request it if I go back.
The facility is decent and much better than the filthy Augustine metals.
Place says closes at 5 but it's a lie and they need to update their hours online.... They close at 4:30 now. So I came really far on my bike because I thought I would make it. But the guy at the gate did not let me go In... And I had my trailer with the stuff...
Prices on aluminum have gone up but they’re paying less than ever. Took 112 pounds and they only gave me $86.
Last time I come here, other places give me that much for less than 50lbs.
Unfortunately it was the only place open this day, so I had no other options.
Horrible! I asked for it to be adjusted. They don’t know how to do math at all and only gave me a small adjustment when it was much more. I then told him to give me an updated receipt. He took my original and went back to the guy and deducted 2 dollars from my total. I guess to compensate himself for walking 10 steps away from his chair. I noticed right away and told him to give me the original . He said he threw it away and refused to do anything. Honestly, go somewhere else.
It was good for a recycling center. They're efficient and the process isn't long. Always a positive experience when we go there and recycle. FYI try to arrive by 4:50 even though they close at 5 they want to get off at a reasonable time. They also pay well for your recycled items.
This is a great place to recycle always friendly and they keep it relatively clean.
You need to pay attention to the price you are being paid here! Called after leaving and found they paid $.11/lb less than what they said the rate should have been ($8 difference).
They deduct more weight for their cart than it actually weighs, so that's an even bigger rip-off (fyi only the biggest cart weighs 129lbs; small carts only weigh about 105lbs)
Bottom line (if you want to get the most money possible): Check prices first, carefully separate materials, ask what they are classifying things as, ask to have the cart weighed empty and double check your receipt before you sign.
What can i say. I don't like to go out, especially if i have to interact. But i was in and out quick. 1 person in front 2 behind. Actually everyone was in and out quick. Got a decent amount, can't complain.
It was how it always is! The employees are always so nice to me. Plus the ONLY reason I go here is because they don't rip me off or try to low ball me. Very appreciative of their great customer service
Theifs!!!!! I asked them about my aluminum before I unloaded it, almost 1500 lbs. Then after they weigh it and after i asked what to do with my aluminum they tell me it is dirty aluminum before literally about 5 of my pices had plastic on them. When I asked if I could take them out and wiegh them separately they told me no!!!! Never again will I go back to this place! Be aware they are stealing from their customers!!!!
Love that place. The staff is friendly. The owners are very hands on. Picture this if you can a couple years ago the owner threw a loaner and staff and it took more than just the owner through it Thanksgiving these days will call it a feast for every person that entered that property not just a customer but anybody who was with him or even just walked on the property all they had to do was go up and get a plate you don't see that very often if ever. But now if you don't want to go just call me and I'll come pick up your scrap and take it for you I'll relieve you of all them extracurricular duties
I was looking for a new place to recycle as my place is not accepting plastic or cans because of COVID-19. I will never go back there again. I had my mom follow us because she did not know where to go. She had some of her recycling in her car and we had the rest in our truck as she had a big load. We had just been there for our recycling and they said we had the maximum amount for the day. I explained this was my mom's and she has another address and she can't fit all this in her car. They said our truck could not be there and they said I need to go back and get another vehicle. I did that and when I came back they immediately told me no. I said why? We did as you had asked. I went and got my mom's other vehicle. I was trying to talk to the manager and he would not talk to me I am assuming because I am a women. He would only talk to my son. This is a big problem. I felt like I was being discriminated against based on my gender and ethnicity. I will never go back there and will not recommend anyone going there. I did speak to someone at 1800-Recycle from California and they told me they can accept all the recycling and everyone could be in the same vehicle as long as they have their own ID's. Also she said they are in violation because we had all our plastic and cans unloaded and they told us to load it back up and go home, get a different vehicle and unload again, just to be told they will not take it. She said that is a violation and I will be making a formal complaint. If you work for a place like this you should really know the laws. I have never had a problem like this anywhere else.
This place is terrible, they always rip you off. I brought a 200 lbs. Water heater and they gave me $2.00!! They rip you off, the only good thing is that they are open on weekends. If you go bring at least one friend who speaks Spanish and let him do all they talking or they will rip you off. Also leave at least one person with your materials or they will steal them!! DO NOT GO HERE IF IT IS AVOIDABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off rip-off. This place is the worst recycle center I have ever been to. They quoted me on the phone a price and when I got here with exactly the goods I said I was coming with they change the price a lot. Then on top of that they scale weight in at 278 pounds which is funny because the rack that I bought weighs 350 lb before you add in the brackets. If you come here bring a 25lb weight with you off of a weight bench place it on the scale and then see what the weight comes to. Then when confronted about the phone call they said maybe I called someone else. So I played back to call for them and then they denied it was them. How unbelievably stupid do these people think I am.
Do not come here if you don't speak Spanish! You will be ignored and given much lower prices than someone who does! I have been coming here for a few years and I will never come back. Every time I am waiting to weigh in I am always helped last even people who get there 15 minutes after me are helped a head of me when they speak Spanish! I've had other people tell me who speak Spanish they are paying me much lower prices per pound.
