  I live near the 12th street location, and started going there, but once i drove out to Rancho, I am never going back. Philberto runs the non-ferrous area like a boss. The area is clean and organized. 12th street was going through a change in personell in the non-ferrous area and was a hot mess for awhile. Also, at 12th street, you have to wait in the same line to get in the gate as the steel/shred trucks. As far a pricing goes, with locations are way better than your little scrap yards like Universal and Mings etc. The smaller guys are more of a middle man getting their cut. Sims (and Scnitzer) are the big boys playing you closer to what the market call for.....but they gotta make a buck too. Lol. For me it's Sims Rancho and I recommend them to any scrapper.

  They no longer accept copper wire unless you are a licensed contractor or you work for a contractor I've been going there for 15 years broudgt in some copper and they denied me told me that I shouldn't even have it that its commercial, but when I told him you could buy it at home Depot they didn't believe me basically told me I was lying never go there again, they no longer accept aluminum cans or plastic bottles in my opinion I believe they're trying to get rid of the riff faff the thieves

  i came here because sim's downtown location was extremely crowded with long wait times. another guy in line said that the rancho cordova location was less crowded, so i made the 25 minute drive to rancho. also, i think that the 12th avenue location caters more to the large commercial/industrial guys and the rancho location is better set up for us small scale recyclers. there were only a couple of other guys there when i arrived, but i was the first to unload. i compared prices between sims and universal service recyclers. sims is way better, e.g.: $2.00/lb for yellow brass vs $.70/lb; $.44/lb for dirty aluminum vs $.20/lb; $.38/lb for clean lead vs $.30; and $.12/lb for car batteries vs $.05. also the staff here are very friendly and willing to help.

  Was my first visit today. It was a little confusing at first but everyone was very friendly and helpful. I think it is set up more for large operations that do scrap cleanup or people in construction but wasn't too hard to figure out. There are 2 areas for dropping off. One is for non-ferrous material (non magnetic) and one for ferrous material (magnetic). I was there for ferrous material. I figured out that ferrous material had to be taken to the area where they weigh your vehicle before and after you unload your material to know how much to pay you. When I drove onto the scale, someone came out and explained the minimum to get paid is 500 lbs because I was in a small Ford Focus. I told him that I didn't want to get paid. Just wanted to clean out my garage and not just throw metal into the dump. He said no problem and gave me a hard hat to borrow and told me where to go to unload. It was easy after that.

  Just wanted to say that the management of this yard is the best. Good real people with heart at this place. Had a little miss hap an it could of been a real bad day for me. On top of being a little stuck out for a moment I had my boys twins 8 years old with me. Children wait in the office for safety purposes ( busy place moving a lot of materials) but they loved the veiw and enjoyed very much watching the crain operating! First time at a yard and dad turned a twenty minute trip into a couple of hours. Staff at this place was great am treated me an my children like real humans..lol Travis was the Best guy I met in a long time. Very greatful to the staff here. Loyal customer for life.

  Great recyclers! Easy to find and dump once you know where to go. Friendly employees and some are even in the yard in case you need to know exactly where to dump alike materials. Highly recommend.

  The worst experience ever. Took my driver license, fingerprint, then couldn't see my plate on the car and said couldn't buy my metal. F***ed up, you take my fingerprint and can't buy my metal because I don't have plates on my car??? Really? The most ridiculous policy ever, never coming back again.

  After doing a thorough research on all the different recycling centers in Sacramento and calling to about 20 centers, this place gave me the best price. When I came there I had to visit both sides for ferrous and non-ferrous and they were of great help. I came in flip-flops and they had to unload trailer full of metal, so because of that I thought they might not like that but they guy was always very friendly. Also when I got the receipt the price was much higher than they gave me over the phone. The total came out to be twice more than I thought it would be. Recommend this place to anyone in Sac.
