Most recent visit was NOT good. I had what I thought was e-waste from my home. First of all, the website sounded easy. It was very confusing at best. I had contact with three different attendants, two at the scales. Besides conflicting directions, all three were very rude. Just not necessary. I guess this business doesn't need good public relations. All three should be fired.

went to North Area Recovery Station to dump a load, opened my trailer doors, and a couple of 2x4s accidentally fell out. My dump trailer battery also died, so the trailer wouldn’t lift. I went back to the weighing station and explained exactly what happened.
Instead of any understanding, they insisted I had to pay $50 just because those couple of boards fell out. The lady even told me that “even if you drop an ashtray, it’s still $50.Nov 22, 2025 -

Since this was my first time at the station, I was a bit confused about just where I was supposed to drop off my stuff. Once I figured it out, everything was simple. The two women who took my stuff were very helpful and gave me clear directions for the exit.

Well my previous experiences have been fairly quick and easy in and out. However, noon on a Friday is a definite DO NOT GO time. Several vehicles (including myself) turned around and left the waiting lanes before the scales! However the residential electronics are no charge and 1-2 large appliances per day are no charge.

Everything went smoothly, as least as expected for a dump! Woman at scale kiosk was nice, straight forward, easy to understand and my hearing isn't that great. Got there about 10:45am (on a Wed) and it took about 45 minutes before I was driving away headed home. When I arrived, line of vehicles was just about to that first stop sign where the right turn to haz waste is, just for reference. Today there were 3 lanes, far right was commercial and 2 left lanes for everyone else. The two left lanes merge a few vehicles before the scale. Wish they had a sign indicating that because when I pulled up, I assumed one line of vehicles so I pulled in behind them but leftmost lane was way shorter so people coming after me and using that lane got in sooner than me.
I suspect it's hit or miss how busy it will be any particular day or time but after I'd been there maybe 10 or 25 minutes I think the line was a bit longer.
Also, yesterday (Tues) I dropped off some haz waste about 1:30pm and the line to the scale was a bit shorter, maybe 3 or so vehicles farther down from same stop sign.
Hoping more people post their experience and time so we all can get an idea of the best time and day.Aug 13, 2025 -
I haven't even been there and I'm appalled, their website is a maze, and their phone computer is irrelevant to who they are! I can't even find out if they accept antifreeze or not!!!

I love it , close, takes appliances FREE 2 a day, in and out in good time. Good Prices, 10 mins from my house and no need to go out to Keifer

Crazy. They make you sort and pull out the metal from my dump trailer. I’ll just go to Lincoln from now on. Horrible experience. It’s worth the 20 mile drive to go to Lincoln

I used the North Area Recovery Station this morning for the first time. I needed to recycle two non-working microwave ovens and this disposal station accepts two per visit for free. I arrived early at about 6:25 a.m. on a Wednesday and was surprised that there was a bit of a line; however, once the scale was staffed the line moved fairly quickly. The process is a little confusing at first with lots of signs, cones, and traffic; both self-dump and commercial. I seemed to be the only woman there, but nobody held it against me.The staff was courteous, professional, and provided great instructions on exactly where to go and the area to drop the microwaves. This was a great experience, even if it was the dump.

Good place to recycle ... They take mattresses, appliances, recycling for free they also take limited amounts of paint for free ... One truck bed full to the roof nothing sticking out is $40 better than any other landfills that want to charge you twice as much... There is a limit on some types of wood you can dispose of there they do not take pressure-treated wood there ...

Prices and waits are insane. Scales are off also. Truck and trailer is always about 13300lbs dry give or take about 100-200lbs because of fuel. Was 12600 leaving and I had another body in the truck. Was about 600lbs under on exit scale which make you pay more as if you dumped more.

Came later Saturday and the lady working was one of the sweetest people I've met in a while, came back Sunday night and the lady working was for no reason at all probably one of the rudest people I've talked to in a long time. Would have left a 1 star but the nice lady came in clutch for you guys. I also spent about 400 dollars for 3 dump runs. The Lincoln one and one of Stockton blvd both would have costed me 120-150. Prices are completely insane, on top of that they will charge a 25 dollar fee if u don't have your stuff tied down, even if its completely solid heavy metal objects that are no where near the height of your trailer. Last thing ill have is this place is the worst smelling and dirtiest dump I've been to in Sacramento, be careful where you step when you get out of your car

Terrible place, complete rip-off, totally disorganized and poorly managed, wasted about an hour waiting in long lines. Worse than that, they charge a $50 MINIMUM for anything you drop off! I didn't see any signs about that, and the lazy attendant at the entrance really should have said that when I told him how few items I had. Avoid this dump!!

Wait time is the issue… everything else is fine, be careful with nails on the ground
Sep 30, 2024 -
Very long wait time and super expensive. $40 to get rid of a small wooden futon frame... they had a huge wait with over 25 vehicles backed up and maybe 10% of the dump stalls being used. Just makes no sense when there could have been literally no wait.

I know they're doing some new construction right now and I hope that improves the efficiency in the future, but right now the wait times are absolutely horrible. For like the last month, every time I've gone there, the line has been almost out to the street and it moves one car length every 20 minutes. Totally unacceptable. I'm not shocked at all I'm starting to see piles of garbage all around town. People probably try to do the right thing first, then go find a secluded spot and dump their trash nearby. There's piles of trash all over Roseville Road nearby. I know it's a county building so nobody's going to care about bad reviews but let this be a warning if you plan on making a dump run. You'll be there half the day.

Everyone is nice here but they put a dump in a horrible location and there's no prioritization here, It's quite obvious that this is more meant for commercial than residential they barely prioritize any bays for residential. Out of the 8 bays maybe 2-3 max will be allowed for residential. Big mess takes forever. Better off driving to yolo county landfill. It cost me $40 to throw away 2 small sofas and I burned $20 of diesel in line waiting for an hour.

They accept pretty much every type of waste here with separated areas for electronics, green waste, palm (palm is separated from all other green waste), rock, metal, tires, mattresses, etc. Hazardous waste is accepted at no charge but is open for limited hours. (Check their website for specific days and times). General waste is $40 per truck load.
Tip - If you don't need to weigh out you do not need to wait in the exit line. Go into the far right lane on your way out.Jan 05, 2023 -
Because Sacramento County does not provide a way to give them feedback to review their home location, I have to post this here. Deal with it. Thanks to meat and food waste collection, my green waste can has a maggot infestation. This is going to happen more and more now that this material is not stored in plastic kitchen garbages preventing flies and mosquitoes using the green can as a hatchery. Please see attached picture of what you will be facing soon enough

A very long wait. But the staff was very nice and did the best they could to keep things moving

They are practicing social distancing as they should. Takes a while to get in but everyone was nice and they were professional. Only so many vehicles at a time. Go early and save yourself some time. Nice tidbit - mattresses and box springs are free to drop off. No charge. That's what I was there to drop off and was pleasantly surprised to see that. I was expecting a hefty charge as all the fees have gone up.

Long lines all the time takes you at least an hour need to figure out a better system then letting pickup truck go ahead of all the people with trailers to merge in when you get front meanwhile 10 trucks the come in after you get to go ahed. But its ran by govt. So what else should you expect besides terrible service
Jun 11, 2020 -
The staff are a strict and personable at the same time. I learn something new each time I go.There is no need for identification untill you're cost exceeds $20.

They people who work here have a good attitude. They explained that Has.Mat. was closed on Sunday & Monday, However, appliances are accepted, 2 per day for free all 7 days. The procedure for acceptance is different on Sunday & MONDAY, as there is only one part open and the signage is changed appropriately to acommodate SUNDAY & MONDAY

I own JunkBeast junk removal and this is the first place I go to dispose of junk. They have space for my giant trailers to park and unload. I highly recommend this place.
