My initial introduction was of the single person apologizing if he immediately seems short or upset, he was alone and it was raining, so I agreed to give him a day to get things together.
The next day, he took a look, told me the information I already knew and was hoping to get a lead on anything to do next. He told me he would explore options, but never got back to me. I ended up paying $189.50 to get myself no where.
It was a disappointing experience, and while they were kind to a degree, as someone who works customer service, I could recognize good and bad service. I will not be coming back.
Everyone here was super nice and they were very clear with what would happen/needed attention. They went through all the procedures that would be done with me over a call so that I could make educated choices. Would recommend and will come again!
We had a transmission replaced. Carl and all are very honest. They gave us several scenarios to get it fixed. They found the least expensive way to fix our problem. We’ve used their services in the past and found them to be good at their repairs.
We’ve been here several times and always had the best experience. One time we were concerned that we needed a repair and they told us we didn’t - just a normal service. They easily could’ve added something in, but they didn’t. Just recently we took our Dodge ram pro master in for transmission work as it was slipping in reverse. They said it needed a complete rebuild, and it would be down about a week. They did indicate that the rebuild would improve on the current transmission as the original was a little under powered for the work our business does.They didn’t rest on their laurels though. Since the parts were going to take two days, they called around and found a remanufactured unit and were able to get it installed for $600 less - and done two days sooner! Who does that? Elk Grove Transmission did a great job on my F250 Super Duty. Services were done per the 100k mile mark. Replaced leaking radiator, front and rear brakes, battery, drum seals, power steering fluid replaced and a few other items replaced or repaired. Great pricing work completed within 4 days. Just got my 16 foot box truck back yesterday. Did a rebuild of the transmission per their recommendation. My uncle recommended the rebuild over a swap because the shop guarantees the parts & labor for 3 years / 36,000 miles in my case. In a swap, the manufacturer has a guarantee on the part only.
My uncle is a retired master mechanic that used to work for Downtown Ford so I went with his suggestion. So far, so good.
Transmission definitely feels better than before. I would describe it as smooth and responsive when compared with the old transmission. Got pretty much all the fluids changed aside from engine oil.
They gave me an estimate on the time it would take and were a bit conservative in case they needed more time. The transmission was done early which was a nice surprise.
I didn’t shop around too much but I was aiming for a quality shop. I think the prices reflect the quality and attention to detail. Yes, it might be a bit expensive but I depend on this vehicle to make money so well worth the investment in my opinion.
Now the only thing I have to do is keep up with the regular maintenance e.g. change transmission fluid about 20k-25k miles depending on how tough the driving is.
I’ll have to come back and give a 2 year update but so far, I would recommend this shop to others if quality and customer service is top on your list.
I have a European car that had a a hard time getting ready for smog and the team at EG Transmission, especially JL, jumped right in - without an appointment even, and diagnosed the issues quickly. Took our truck to get the transmission looked at and fixed and they told us they knew what was wrong with it but wouldn't tell us what it was. They then told us that they would rebuild the transmission for 6,000 and the truck was there at the shop for 2 weeks only to end up getting new motor mounts installed. On top of that we picked up the truck and the doors were all unlocked and now the truck wobbles at 65 mph and it never had a wobble...

I came here because of the good reviews, but it was a letdown. A basic oil change took hours, they claimed my car had issues it didn’t, and I later found out they damaged my drain plug without telling me. Very disappointed—won’t be back.
Despite having a difficult time with our warranty company on our transmission replacement, Elk Grove Transmission was wonderful to work with. Carl kept us informed throughout the process, providing frequent updates, often times daily. We felt like our vehicle was in trusted hands, especially when the warranty company sent two damaged transmissions, Carl and the team would not install them, as it was not safe. We appreciated everything from our experience and would highly recommend this shop!!! Excellent customer service!

I dropped off my vehicle(Honda accord sport) for a second opinion on a concern I have been having. The issue was that there was a slight spudder that felt the vehicle was struggling when accelerating from 0-30 mph range. The next day, I received a phone call regarding the diagnosis of my vehicle and was told that my vehicle’s transmission completely went out during the test-drive portion of the inspection and I would be sent me the receipt for the diagnosis and an estimate for a transmission replacement that needed to be complete. The work was approved and it was communicated that the transmission was ordered and will be ready in 2-3 days. The following week, I was called and told that my vehicle was ready for pick-up. My vehicle was picked up. The next day, I was driving my vehicle and noticed I was having similar issues that started on the freeway as I hit the 60 mph. I slowed down and the problem began again from 0-30 mph but the spudder was accompanied by a rocking motion and check engine light flashing. The next morning, I went back to your office and was greeted by the same gentleman I was in contact with the entire time in hopes to rectify the situation. I advised him that my vehicle was not operating any better. He accompanied me on a test-drive for one block to which he did not need to see any more. I was told, “It’s definitely not transmission-related”, which seemed to me as an indirect way of not taking responsibility for misdiagnosis resulting in $6671.76 of unnecessary work. I questioned if there was anything done to ensure that the root of the problem was transmission-related; I was assured that it was the transmission. He responded something to the effect that sometimes when one problem is fixed it might highlight another problem. I was asked if I had a ride so that I could leave my car for further investigation. Upon waiting for an Uber, the tech evaluated my vehicle and said it was reading that there was an engine misfire in cylinder 1. The elephant in the room was totally dismissed and there was nothing offered to rectify that I had spent a significant amount of money to still have the same issue with my vehicle. When I was told about the reading, the same individual stated something to the effect that his technician said there was evidence of “rodent activity” in the engine bay wiring which may be causing this problem. If this is true, there was nothing documented in the initial inspection about this issue. He typed something up and provided me with a paper documenting this before I left the office and recommended me take it to the dealership for repair. Now my vehicle is consistently having a spudder with rocking motion in the 0-30mph range along with the check engine light flashing to the point where it is unsafe to drive. It is a reasonable expectation to have a car in working order after spending close to $7,000. I feel like I'm a reasonable person and would have settled for an alternative resolution if my car's issue was taken care of. But to totally dismiss me and shoo me out of the establishment with a different diagnosis after taking my money is unacceptable. I do not recommend this place.
Disappointed. Had a major repair done on transmission. It was replaced. Received my car back and something was leaking immediately. They inspected and then told me it was the transfer case. They wanted to call my warranty service again to get authorization for new repairs after just getting a significant amount of money from them and me for the prior repairs. It left me with a bad taste. My car did not leak prior to them repairing. I have a hard time accepting getting my car back with a new problem within days of having it initially repaired. Nice people but very disappointed.

A Smart friendly and a great repair shop. They did a great job. I was taken to enterprise car rental. I was not made to feel silly when I thought my speedometer was broken. They found I must have accidentally pressed the kilometer button. The leak in the AC was repaired along with other problems taken care of. Thank you.
Took my car here - The shop I took it to a few months ago told me We had a transmission issue. We waited for an hour plus for them to tell us that - We thought we'd have to get a new transmission completly and were shocked because it sounded like a brake issue. Moved to California (drove down) a few months ago, took the car here telling them what the Washing state shop told us, and they did a in-depth breakdown of what was needed, including pictures and descriptions and we could see for ourselves that the transmission was fine and it was indeed a brake issue (much worse now) that the other shop didn't bother looking into, as we had asked them to. We highly recommend this place for you and your family's vehicle needs. Thank you so much for being HONEST and for helping us out. We and our people will continue to only go to you.
I came to this shop for a second opinion after another place gave me an estimate that seemed way too high to fix my AC. I'm so glad I did! Not only did they find a much more reasonable solution—literally 1/10 of the cost—but they also got the repairs done incredibly fast. The staff was super friendly, honest, and helpful throughout the whole process. You can tell they really care about their customers. Highly recommend!

I got some work done on my 2005 mustang not only were they fast , I had to reschedule and they were very accommodating, turn around time was great beyond quality work, and the driver inspection/diagnostic was incredibly helpful. I definitely recommend and I’ll be coming back
This shop is wonderful! Everyone is friendly and helpful. I took my van in for a service, brake replacement, and AC inspection. They were prompt with their estimate and had things done in a timely manner. When following the van home after it was done being worked on, I noticed that neither of the bottom brake lights were working. I called them up and told them and they asked me to bring it back as soon as possible so they could get it looked at. They said they'd have the mechanic who worked on it previously ready to go when I got there. Once there, they promptly took the van back and got it fixed. I didn't even have to wait an hour and they did not charge me anything extra. If you need car repairs or a service, I highly recommend taking your car here. Their services are well worth the cost.
We have had several vehicles in for servicing at this automotive repair shop. All have been great experiences. We’ve never had to take anything back for the same problem. They have replaced a transmission for us on our older pickup, and they have replaced an engine on our Jeep, after Chrysler was going to charge us nearly double what we were charged at this shop. Their work can absolutely be trusted. We are very grateful we found them, as they provide great service. John is very very helpful. We would and do recommend this shop to others.
I took my car for transmission services about a month ago and am very pleased with the experience. They did an excellent job servicing my car, and it runs smoothly. The staff was friendly, and the turnaround time and price were reasonable. I appreciated their clear communication throughout the process. Overall, I would highly recommend it.
