I love all the services this place offers for elk grove residents but holy christ, some of the workers seem angry when I interact with them. Not sure why that is..

I had a boat that hadn't moved in over 10 years with a full tank of gas that I needed to dispose of. I had 85 gallons to get rid of. The facility took the old gas and even returned my containers the next day. I don't know what I would have done without them!

This service is fast, friendly, and a efficient way of getting rid of your electronics, paint, old cleaning supplies, and more. No need to put them in your trash as this isa free service for EG residents.

I give them 3-stars, but that is only for the convenience of the service. I’ve never gone in the re-use store, but the people working outside don’t seem to care much about providing any customer service. I just dropped off a large appliance and the guy “working” in front of the appliance bin didn’t get out of his chair or even ask if I needed help. He was on his phone the entire time as I unloaded my appliance. Clearly there’s LOTS of room for improvement.

Very rude staff. God help you if you have a question or don't get your ID out fast enough or struggle to throw (as directed) to the back of the dumpster a 50 pound steam cleaner with a compromised shoulder. But okay. Thanks for helping the environment and have a great day.

This is a great place to recycle paint and electronics. I just drove in and they unloaded the materials. Also the reuse center is a fun place to get spray paints and cleaning materials.

They are making it very difficult to dispose of your recycles items . Be prepared to take some of it back home .

I drop off stuff there frequently, like old batteries, cardboard, etc. the workers there, consistently, have a chip on their shoulders for some reason. for example, I went to drop off some cardboard boxes one time. there are two lanes you can drive through, one for chemicals, and one for stuff like cardboard. I went to the lane for cardboard. I stopped, waited for someone to check my ID. when no one came by, I thought maybe one didn't have to show ID for drop offs like that, so I drive through. no malicious intent. anyway, as I'm dumping my cardboard in the metal bin, one of the workers comes running at me and yells at me that I can't do that and have to go back in line and check in. I seriously thought he was going to punch me. I'm like, ok, calm down, I didn't know. bunch of angry weirdos.

I visit the EG Special Waste Reuse Room every month, sometimes even more! As an Elk Grove resident, what a blessing it is to be able to pick up 10 items, completely free! With the help from the EGSWD I've been able to not only finish up DIY projects, but they've saved me so much money on repairs on my; patio roof, bathroom tile, unwanted weeds etc.. too many things to mention. If you're a resident of Elk Grove. With approved identification, I recommend giving a visit.

Amazing place, I came here and had an amazing experience. A very nice young lady on the phone aliah is the best helpful person. She gets you the rite info u need. And goes out her way if you nede help in the reuse room. All my years coming here, the reuse room looks much more organized.

Easy as 1,2,3. Had old paint and cooking oil. Pulled up, stayed in truck, they will ask you what you have, scan ID, they unload it and your done.

Great place, I’ve used it many times to recycle scrap metal, wood, old electronics and paint! Staff is nice and the facility is open Sunday to Thursday. In my visit I also picked a couple of items in the reuse room as well, a tile cleaner and weed killer. The negative posts on this review page seems odd. It’s a free service and they provide free used items to EG residents. If you have any questions like I did, call them. If I had to leave a message, they always called back and answered my questions.

they are also hilarious, they took like 20 empty cans of paints and left a small one 1/4 q saying they can’t take more than a certain weight or quantity

Great service but only for those resident who live in CITY of Elk Grove. They are particular about certain items but doing it to enhance recycling and hazardous waste so I get it. Glad they have one so all that stuff doesn't end up in the trash!

Great facility and setup. Friendly staff and always easy in and out. The reuse center (only for Elk Grove residents) is great with old cans of paint, chemicals, fertilizer, etc. Ensures that things get used instead of ending up in a landfill. For those giving bad reviews... its not hard to follow the rules designed for yours and the staffs safety: 1. stay in your car, 2. show your drivers license showing you're a Sac County resident, 3. consult the website on what is accepted and what is not.

Quick trip to unload three old TVs. No waiting on Sunday. The friendly crew emptied the car before I could get out!

Just called telling them I moved to this location and that they accepted cardboard boxes. In my mind, I thought great with given opening hrs. Once I drove up though, I was only to be turned away because I didn't have utility bills to prove I moved. It would of been handy to know that information before driving down, especially telling that you just moved to the location. Most paperwork on driver's/car registration or utilities take longer than a month to have everything transfer to your name. Like this was cardboard, no toxic waste. Isn't this suppose to be a public drop off? Are people really falsifying information to recycle to help the planet? Please tell people that they need their id or some kind of proof of id of living at elk grove before having them waste their time.

Drove by for the tire recycling event and didn't have to get out of the car. It was very easy to drive through and they take the items out of your car for you and have you swipe your driver's license. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Very professional staff. Convenient open days and hours. They make it so easy to properly dispose of items. Many items are reused Your unwanted paint, insecticide and fertilizer gets put in the reuse room that is free to take if you want. They are organized and fast. Probably should bring them doughnuts on my next visit.

Worst experience ever at a recycling place. Droping off 2 old tvs to recycle. The whole time I was there treated like a 5 year old. They said stay in your car over and over. May be I did want them to touch my car. If the policy is yo treat you like a 5 year old i do not recommend this place to anyone period.

Fairly easy to navigate to and around. I had no problems dropping off my laptop batteries, ewaste, and small appliances (at separate locations within the facility).

I have used this facility many times. Staff is efficient and courteous and the place itself is clean and well-organized. Drop-off has always been easy! This is an excellent service to the Elk Grove area.

You need to tell the public when you aren’t accepting drop off cardboard. Wasted a couple hours loading, driving over and back. Then I had to unload, only to go through the process again when you alert the public (if that ever happens) that you are accepting cardboard again.

I went today to drop off my old fence wood and was today that they are not accepting fence wood or plastic any more. Took me a good hour to load my truck just to find I have to bring it back home and unload it.

I’ve taken our Elk Grove household e-waste to this facility many times, but after our last experience I’m doubtful we will come back. We had just a few small boxes of electronics and an old tower PC in the back of our brand new SUV. The attendants “dragged” everything out of the back of our car, scratching up the top of our bumper. It very much felt like when we pulled in that we were interrupting their day. The public is not allowed out of the car to unload. The staff is oblivious to how their lack of care impacted our desire to responsibly dispose of our e-waste. This is only going to result in more household electronics in the landfill. Some customer service training is desperately needed to improve how the staff interacts with the public.

If you live in any other city than Elk Grove they refuse service to you. My residence address is Wilton and they told me it was SACRAMENTO county and told me i could not come back there. Lady i checked Elk Grove is also Sacramento county

This is such a neat Service. But be warned: THESE PEOPLE DO NOT PLAY AROUND! DO NOT GOOF OFF HERE. When you drive up to the entrance, wait your turn. DO NOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. When it is your turn, drive up, turn off your engine, and DO NOT GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. Bring your hazardous household waste items in sealed packaging(lids, caps, covers closed) or place into a resealable bag if you've lost the lid. I usually make a list of all the items i have, their size/quantity to make it easier for them to differentiate. If you do not make a list, expect to relay this information to the worker when they approach you. You need to present identification that shows you live in Elk Grove, Sacramento County, Sacramento city, galt, or rancho Cordova or else pay a drop off fee when asked. Do not attempt to help the worker when they ask where the materials are in your car, just tell them where they are so they can bring a cart over and verify. It is always helpful place the materials if smaller and numerous into a box to allow for easy transfer. It's just courteous. Larger items (used tires, televisions, mattresses), have designated dumpsters or containers in which to dispose of along the road to the exit. I believe they also have a deposit box for used clothes and recycling however CRV is not redeemed here. They do not take carpet or carpet pads.

Very convenient, they will take everything with no questions and a smile. You can make as many trips as you want, limit 15 gallons so if you have more than that, you can be sited if you get pulled over for transportation of hazardous materials.

I have dropped off cardboard once before at this location but only a few pieces. This past Sunday I had a full dump trailer of clean cardboard. They said since I lived just outside of city limits I was not allowed to leave it. I could have taken it for money somewhere else but this was convenient. I was told to just take it all to the landfill?! So the whole premise behind this place is to save the planet but yet the young female employee said just dump it we're not taking it from you. What a joke...

LOVE this place. Friendly staff, easy to get to and easy to drop off my stuff. Helpful list of accepted items on city website- I printed it out and put it in my garage - they take almost everything! Solves so many problems about what to do with unused yard amd household chemicals, Amazon boxes, and much more.
