They are excellent. The work has always been completed on time and well executed. But the biggest thing that keeps me coming back is their honesty. When I first went to Jared's shop, he could have easily sold me an extensive & expensive brake repair but to my surprise didn't. He advised against it. He advised me to come back and I'm glad I did. I took and left my 2017 Hyundai Sonata for a check engine light. Once my wife and I arrived we were greeted and attended to immediately by Jared and Abdul. They let me know that they would run a diagnostic scan on my vehicle which would sum up to $150 and if an issue was found on my vehicle the diagnostic fee would go toward labor and parts fee to fix said issue. After 45mins I received a call from Jared in which he explained the repairs that were going to be needed on my vehicle. Unfortunately, my vehicle misfired and was also burning oil internally and he told me that I would need to get the engine switched out as the misfire caused permanent damage to my vehicle. However, Jared and his amazing team were able to get my car in drivable condition and all he charged me was the $150 diagnostic fee. My wife and I expressed our thanks and gratitude for his great customer service and help in general as we have struggled for almost 2 weeks with the check engine light issue on my vehicle. He was also very kind as he told me that if my check engine light came on again (he mentioned it would because of the misfire) I could return to his shop and he would take care of me and my vehicle. I highly recommend anyone who has issues with their vehicle whether it be big or small, to come to Fair Auto Repair &Tire as their name says they do have Very Fair prices and excellent customer service. They take the time to hear out their customers and even make sure they are well taken care of and are back on the road safely with their vehicle. I will definitely be coming back for any and all future auto repairs and maintenance on my vehicles. Amazing place, they always pay attention to small details and they're super nice and hospitable. Their prices are great and I feel like they always treat me with such respect.
It's been months since I've been there, and I'm still finding things they broke, screws they left out, and fittings left broken. My car never felt right after they worked on it, and when I brought it back, they said everything was good. Save yourself the headache, and spend a little more somewhere else.
I was there for my car Ac work they offer very low price for fixing and repair done in the same day. Owner was very nice and friendly I highly recommend them to all of my friends and family members for best service.
I took my Mercedes S550 for alignment here, the guy name J serve me in a great polite manners and without having me wait he put my car on alignment ment machine and within an hour he professionally aligned my car which was pulling to the right before.
Thanks to J and fair auto repair shop. Definitely recommend for any car issues especially for alignment.
This place is a rip off. They charged me to find out what was wrong with my car ($150) called back hour later I need a timing belt but they need another $150 to make sure that was the real problem said I needed a new motor SMH took it to another mechanic I needed a sensor.

Refuse to give me a written estimate for the repair they recommended. Then expected me to bring the car in and authorize them ordering parts without a written estimate. The verbal repair estimate was 30% higher than the estimare from the auto repair shop at the dealership for the make of my car.
They seem nice but I don't trust anyone who won't put in writing what they're going to repair on my vehicle.
Fair Auto Repair and Tire provided exceptional service. I initially went to America Tire to have my tire repaired. After waiting an hour and a half, I was told they wouldn’t repair it but could sell me a new set of tires. I went to Fair and they repaired my tire in less than 10 minutes. Jay and his crew are GREAT!
J was extremely kind and helpful when I got a nail in my tire right before our holiday travel. He made time to check it out for me, and fixed it on the spot so we wouldn’t have to worry about it! Trustworthy and friendly - I highly recommend Fair Auto & they’re certainly have all our future business
Note: Negotiate the price before agreeing to any service. They tried to charge me $160 for a synthetic oil change on a 2015 Benz C300. I told them I usually pay $80, and they immediately lowered the price to $130. I didn’t want to negotiate about the price more, I declined and left the place. Please try to avoid scammers like this. I changed it somewhere else with $85.
Great prices, quick service, and lovely conversation. What more could you want? Got my oil changed and tires rotated same day I remembered I needed that done.
Jay is really nice and he cares a lot about his customers. One time I locked my keys in my car and he came really quickly to help and was extremely accommodating. I also always gets nails in my tire and he fixes it quickly for a fair price. My whole family goes to Jay and he remembers the details of all our cars, and he does the same for all his customers.
My name Adam, this is by far my favorite mechanic shop. I drive 30 mins to always come here. Jay and his crew are great. They have very fair prices, will take the extra time to show/teach you about what is wrong with your car & if there are ever any issues post a repair they have you covered. Check engine light was on for a misfire in cylinder 8 on my truck. I work while the shop is open and my folks ended up taking my vehicle here for an assessment.
Jay, the owner, convinced them the truck needed a new engine. Without my input, they opted to take Jay’s advice and throw a new 5.0 in my truck.
The first engine that had the misfire had been looked at by a Ford Certified tech and very trusted family member. Both of them told me there was absolutely no reason to remove the original engine as it was still good and most likely just needed new plugs.
After Jay dropped the used engine in my truck, I told him it was running worse than before. Jay told me unless the issue is with the engine, he would not help.
I took the truck back to my two trusted people to see what they thought.
Both told me to take it back to Jay and gave me a list of things to bring up to him about simple things such as pigtailing wires under the hood, like he should have never done.
I took the truck back, and Jay admitted it was also a shot out engine, and needed to be replaced again.
Flopped another engine in the truck, and I could not wait to leave this shop.
My truck runs worse than before, fans turn on all the time, misfire and does not respond like it should when you hit the gas.
New code popped up for the catalytic converters, both need to be replaced.
Jay didn’t care as it was not the engine that had issues.
Worst mechanic I’ve ever dealt with. Terrible at diffusing situations, and just made me more upset whenever I would talk to him.
Would never recommend this mechanic to anyone, as he does not stand by his work.
Brought my truck in for leaking exhaust manifold Jay quoted me a price before I even brought it in. Was very fair and honest did find an additional issue with my motor mounts which he repaired at a very fair price truck came in in the morning and left same day, I would highly recommend this place. It’s great and refreshing to find an honest mechanic that doesn’t overcharge. Thank you very much. I will be back.
I called this shop to preform an inspection on a used 2004 Mercedes SL55 that I am considering. Jay was very helpful and we discussed a breakdown of what he would look over. I was most concerned with drive train, suspension and the convertible top. He examined all and then went into more detail regarding any electrical/system issues, minor fluid leaks, body/trim damage, etc. I felt like he was very thorough in the inspection. After Jay was done, we discussed all the issues and he gave me his opinion on the various issues and sent me a written report via email. Really appreciated dealing with him. Highly recommended.
At first I thought Jay was honestly. He has been working on my Truck for over 2 months. I originally brought it in informing him that my AC was not working. After replacing part after part to my AC, two month later and over $1000 later I brought it back to him today to inform him that the AC is not working, and he said it will be over another $1000. Do not trust this location.
This shop stands true to its name. First shop I've ever gone to and left feeling like they went out of their way to help me and were fair and honest beginning to end. Things another shop would cost me hundreds of dollars to fix they say just go get the part from dealer and during my next service he'll swap it out no charge. Said it's a 5 min job. Who else runs an auto shop with dignity like this? And he's gained a customer for as long as I'm within reasonable distance. Could not recommend these folks more!
My niece had her catalytic converter stolen and needed a replacement. We reached out to Fair Auto Repair And Tire for an estimate and decided to get the work done there. They installed a new catalytic converter and installed a used muffler/down pipe to save on repair cost since it was an older car. The work was good - the only downside was that the muffler exhaust pipe was hanging low since they didn’t do the extra work to get it sitting flush - fortunately I had a muffler shop resolve it for me.
The car also had a starter issue that was fixed by this shop. Other than that, they are responsive, fair prices, and fair work. Id recommend finding your own parts in order to save.
My brother found this place on Yelp, and both of us use them for a number of things. My brother and his wife are fairly a-b people with their car, but they needed an engine replaced. This shop found them a good engine at a good price, and then installed it quickly for another good price. Now they need a catalytic converter, but the shop can do it for way cheaper than the dealer ever did for my car (both are the same kind, aside from body style, transmission, and a year apart).
For me, I'm an eccentric car guy, and they took a bunch of relatively experimental parts that I had compiled for my car to have them installed (I don't trust myself with more complicated/safety related work). They did say they couldn't warranty or guarantee the parts, but they would do the work. Overall, it was a fair deal all told. It took them a few days more than expected, but they always called me when it was going to take longer, and explained why.
They have good hours and prices, not to mention a waiting room (which not all small shops have). It's a bit out of the way, but worth it.
Update 2022: I've taken the stars down to two. The catalytic converter job still left issues for smog and check engine lights, and their replacement engine ended up blowing a head gasket because the wrong coolant was used (green, not pink/red as needed). Correct coolant is a must, as gaskets are designed for a certain blend, and the wrong coolant can cause material failure. For my car, the rear springs (which have the brand and model of the spring on it) were re-installed upsidedown. I've lost faith in that kind of service for the future.
Relatively new to Sacramento (about a year) and had a bit of work done at Fair Auto Repair & Tire. (Brakes, Timing Belt, Water Pump, Accessory belts and crank seal) I'm the kind of person that likes to do my own car work, so I tend to be a little picky about who works on my car ;-) We had just moved to Sacramento and I needed to do a brake job on the better half's car (2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring). I got the recommendation for Fair Auto Repair & Tire from the r/Sacramento subreddit and decided to drop by and give them a shot. I'm so glad I did!
I was given options for different levels of brake component quality, recommendations as to his preference and a fair quote. I took him up on the offer and dropped the car off the next day. The service was fantastic and the quality of work was superb. Brakes are still smooth as can be one year later.
Fast-forward to about a month ago. I had been putting off replacing the timing belt on the very same Hyundai as I don't have the tools and the garage still has boxes from the move - lol. I went to visit Jay, and again he was very thorough in explaining what work they were going to do, and offering up alternatives to the parts that he would normally suggest (OEM replacement parts). A very fair quote was given and I dropped the car off a couple of days later. Not only did Jay show me the leftover parts from the work, but he took the time to perform a test drive and give me feedback on the suspension and the transmission (his personal field of expertise), both of which were reported to be in good shape. As an added bonus, he steam-cleaned the engine bay for me. What a class act!
The only challenge I have is that I always tend to have a long conversation with Jay because he is such a genuinely good person. :-) Jay is about as honest of a person as you can find; A trustworthy individual and business that I will continue to patronize and recommend for as long as he decides to keep doing it.
I can't say enough good things about my experience at Fair Auto. Javed was kind, friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, patient, and clearly a master of his craft. He took the time to explain things to me and gave me options without any pressure to do one thing over the other. I have experienced a decrease in the quality of customer service in so many areas of the economy since COVID, so it was actually a surprise to be treated so well. From my first phone call to getting my vehicle back took less than 24 hours. When I went to pick it up, Javed told me he fixed a rattling noise that had been bugging me (but that I never mentioned to them) at no extra charge. I am not exaggerating in the slightest when I say this was the best customer service experience I have had in at least a year. This place was recommended by a friend. I was a little nervous at first since I usually stay away from shops. However, Jay always takes great care of my vehicle! He listens to the issue I’m describing, takes the vehicle on road tests, and lets me know what the problem is, what needs to be done, and how much it’s going to cost. If anything changes, he is quick to give me a phone call and keep me updated. I used to have a Prius and he did incredible work. Now I have a BMW and he is the only one I will trust with my vehicles. He is honest, and will recommend other places he has good business relationships with if there is something he can not do.
I had to keep filling my tire...i decided to fix it. At 5 pm..i looked on yelp and found this place. I called to find out the cost to repair the tire...i was quoted 10.00 if the tire stays on the car and 15.00 if they had to take it off..
I arrived 10 minutes later...rhey asked me to pull the car up so I did.
I did not even have to wait...right away the nice guy came out...lifted my car up and discovered a nail...
Immediately he got his tools..pulled it out..put in a plug and sealed the tire.
I was literally in and out within 10 to 15 minutes.
I was so happy how quickly they serviced the car. It was fun to joke with them.
I for sure recommend this place...the staff is very friendly...and they were very quick to get me out of there.

No pressure, he gives you the option of thinking if you want to do it or go somewhere else, TWO THUMBS UP for this guy is a genius and explains to you in the most understandable way.
There is no mumbo-jumbo with these guys. I can call this guy doctor auto. Similar to a doctor he said, we will try this if it doesn't work we will try a different approach, which is the same thing when doctors gives you antibiotics, if first antibiotic doesn't work, they will add or replace the antibiotic.
