They charged me $130 for a transmission diagnosis which was no more than an uneducated guess and quoted ne $4300 for repairs. Wes tried to talk me into leaving my SUV there but I picked it up instead. The transmission is no longer engaging like it was when I took it to their shop. Wes claims it mysteriously went out just now. He even refused to refund my diagnostic fee.
A garage elsewhere rebuilt our transmission, but a severe vibration ensued. Repeat visits to the other garage did not result in a diagnosis. Red D promptly found the problem and repaired it. Responsive and skilled. What more can we ask for?
Took my car to 2 other places before getting referred here. They were able to get me an estimate within 2 hours, and had my car fixed in 24 hrs. Worked with Jason. Great service, very professional, and he was very clear when describing the work that needed to be completed. Pricing was fair. I will definitely refer family and friends to this location.
!!!!WARNING!!!!: Worst shop I've ever been to. I had to take my car back twice because my car was shaking and now it shakes when I put it in reverse. I just went there to get my transmission serviced and he ended up saying I had to also replace 3 of my mounts. They said my car was fine and now after 1 hour of leaving the shop my car is shaking. I spent over 1300 with them and they would not resolve it saying it might be my transmission. Don't waste your time or money. I tried getting it resolved through them and they said they would not be willing to do anything. Update: come to find out he never replaced all my mounts and actually lied I called the B.A.R. and they said there was nothing they could do because he's licensed. Don't risk getting your car tampered with by someone who doesn't know what they're doing. Go to Greenback Automotive and they'll take care of you. Honest work and you never have to worry about them messing up your car and leaving you on your own.
Wes and the family/crew at Red D are awesome! From their customer service to their quick and reliable work! Both times I took my Jeep in for work to be done, it was done before the end of the business day! Very quick turn around time. I highly recommend this shop. A great place that I found just by searching around on google.
My 25 year old BMW 528i was leaking transmission fluid and starting to clunk when changing gears. I expected the worst and started researching transmission repair companies. One national brand told me to leave the car for an entire day for a "free estimate." I don't expect not to pay for a man's work and after researching that shop's reputation, I decided to go with Red-D, which is not 1 mile from my place.
I came by at 8 on Tuesday but it was raining and Wes and I agreed tomorrow would be better. He said they don't work on BMW, but I said it's got a GM transmission and so he said that will be fine.
I dropped the car at 8:00 Wednesday and expected to wait most of the day for the estimate, but within 2 hours Wes called and told me that he can fix the 2 leaks and recommended full service as well. I agreed and asked him when he could do it, expecting to have to make an appointment. He said he could finish it today and the price was not even close to what I had expected. I said "do it."
At 2:11 he called and said the car is ready and come pick it up. I walked over and paid him and got in the car and WOW! Smooth as butter and no more leaks!
I do lots of reviews and this is one I have gone the extra mile to review thoroughly as transmission problems are a scary deal. I highly recommend Wes and his family owned business. They've been there 30 years and I've driven by there for 30 years. The place is clean and you will find many positive reviews besides mine.

I found myself stressing out over a camping trip planned in 5 days. I had to tow my travel trailer up and over Donner pass but my truck was throwing a code for torque converter lockup, and flashing "transmission fault" on my dash. I called Wes , explained my situation and asked if there's any was possible they could get me in and fixed by then. They totally came through, and fixed my transmission. It's shifting beautifully and camping was a success!

Jason right away wanted to start off small to see if it will fix my transmission issues. Changed sensors didn't work. But 2nd try thankfully found out it was of all things a bad alternator that was causing electrical interference with transmission. Thankfully Jason knew right away that it was an electrical issue and wanted to fix that issue 1st before diving into transmission. Turned out I have no transmission problems at all even when check engine codes were reading transmission issues! So generous of Wes and Jason to apply the diagnostic fees and sensor fees to the already reasonably priced alternator replacement. Thank you Wes and Jason come here for all of your transmission needs! They're not trying to take advantage of you. Very honest and fair.
Wes, at Red D Transmission went beyond what a traditional Transmission shop handles. I asked for a lot of work to be done. His shop was busy, which is a good sign of a quality company. My requests were met with a can do attitude and anything that came up I was called immediately. Great communication and friendly customer service, which is important. End result, is that I was happy with the performance with Red D and Wes, I would recommend this shop and I will continue to use this shop in the future.
Great place to have your transmission replaced. After talking to different shops I got a referral to use them. Not only did they give me a fair price but when I had a problem with my car a few months later they looked at it at no cost and let me know what was wrong. The owners are easy to work with. I will definitely be referring this shop to others .
I've owned more vehicles than I care to count in the 30 years I have been driving and I absolutely don't want to think about how much money I've spent on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs over those years. So many different auto shops in the Bay Area and then Boston and now Sacramento...some good, a bunch in the middle that were just sort of average and blah, and of course a few criminals disguised as mechanics that severely dented my wallet. But in my 30 years there has never been a shop like Red D. Wes and his brothers have the right amount of knowledge and experience and you put that together with their integrity and they are without question the best shop I've ever been to. Took my car to Red D after another mechanic shop wrongfully identified transmission issue. Red D found out it wasn’t transmission and fixed the problem quickly.
I called and spoke with Wes and he was very helpful over the phone. I brought my car in at 7:30am Friday morning, they had it diagnosed and called me back with the results in a few hours, tracked down a replacement driveshaft locally and fixed my issue. New Ujoints, replaced driveshaft, transmission filter and fluid change and had my car ready by 5pm.

Today I took my car to Red D for the first time to have the transmission fluid changed. Wes wrote me up and my car went in right away. He came up to me a bit into it to tell me my oil pressure switch was leaking oil badly which I confirmed because I had been smelling oil burning but didn't know where from. They changed it for a mere $25 parts only because they were already in there. They saved my engine from burning out and I am so thankful to them! I was in and out so fast it was perfect timing. These are some honest, standup guys and though I hope to never need repair services, I will definitely come back again for maintenance!

Unprofessional. They did a diagnostic on my vehicle without telling what kind of diagnostics,my coolant was COMPLETELY gone,and they didnt tell me,my transmission oil was low and they didn't refill it.Just sorry to have been in business for so long.and then when I told them about these issues they were careless and just made excuses instead of being men and owning up to their mistakes.
I was told by the Nissan dealership, after they had their master mechanic inspect, diagnosed a blinking light on my transfer case of my 04 Nissan Titan. That said I was prepared to pay 3600 to replace the transfer case.
Did some research, liked reviews of Red D Transmissions, which was across from my dental appointment...any the point being Red D Transmissions determined it was a Relay switch which didn't need replacing.. just cleaned.
Sidenote... If I did have to replace it Red D Transmissions beat the dealership by 1k in price.

I brought my car in last year for an oil leak and rear differential fluid change. They are fair on pricing, considerate and get repairs done in a reasonable amount of time.

Came here for a second/third opinion on our truck’s driveshaft, and for an all around drivetrain look over.
