About 20 minutes north of Palm Springs you'll find all things dates. The date milkshakes are creamy, smooth and not too sweet. The banana-date shake is even better. My friend had the soft serve and said it is now his go to snack instead of the shakes. The also have vegan shakes for folks with dietary restrictions.
They have so much to look at in terms of condiments, nuts, candy. I discovered chamoy peach rings and am now addicted. The jalapeño pistachios have been one of my favorites for years and still are.
Hadley's is a tourist trap and nothing there is cheap, but they have great date shakes, and a lot foods and drinks as well as some other stuff that you can't easily find elsewhere. I bought some candied hibiscus and it's really pretty good.
Date shakes are the attraction and I was super happy they had a vegan shake option for the lactose intolerance folks. Definitely enjoyed our visit and our shakes!
this an interesting store and cafe. they have an amazing selection of treats. obviously, lots of date products, bar be que seasonings and glazes, lots of yummy looking baked goods, various candies, including chocolate covered sunflower seeds, a huge selection of beverages, including wine, and fresh peanut butter.
the cafe offers a bunch of sandwiches, panini's, burgers, pizza, and breakfast choices.
the date shake is absolutely the best we have found in the valley. it is smooth and tastes like dates.
we will be back for the great food choices and especially the date shakes.

Great pit stop on the way from LA to Palm Springs. Huge selection of delicious dates and we also enjoyed the Date Smoothie. They also made me a hot, delicious breakfast sandwich
If you on the road from LA to Arizona, this is a great place to stop and catch your breath. The orchard shop, not surprisingly from the name, deals in fruits, especially dried fruits, and nuts. This is a place to find some unusual varieties of nuts and dried fruits.
The signature drink of Hadley's is the date shake. It is rich and potent, definitely worth a try, although ultimately it was a little too rich for my tastes, to be honest. You can enjoy your shake (they have other kinds as well) in a small dining area at the front of the shop.

Overall the this location is very nice, the selections of fruits is wide. However, I was looking forward to the soft serve and date shakes. I typically enjoy dates on their own. So I though the ice cream would be nice in a hot day, but the sweetness felt like an assault in my taste palette. Please consider offering an option without added sugar. This option would be much appreciated
Shakes were good but not as good as they used to be. If ordering food, stick to the cold sandwiches. The burgers and hot dogs are not worth it. They put ice cold lettuce, onions, and tomatoes that made the burger cold also. ? The Chicago dog had one super thin bacon slice, and bread was firm, chewy and not fresh.
The one positive was th that they still had a wide selection of dried fruits, nuts, and other chocolates.
This is my favorite stop for the past 30 years of scoring some jerky all kind of snacks for the road and cool little tidbits to save for the holidays as gifts. But I will say this, the date shakes ever since the big change they taste different please put more ice cream in there or something.

We stopped by Hadley’s Orchard on our way home from camping in Idyllwild and are so glad we did! We came specifically to try their famous date shakes, and they absolutely lived up to the hype—smooth, creamy, and perfectly sweet. I highly recommend adding chocolate and peanut butter mix-ins for an extra indulgent treat!
The spot is more than just a shake stop—there’s a full restaurant and a well-stocked store with snacks, gifts, and local goods. Everything was very clean, and the place was clearly popular with both locals and travelers. Whether you’re craving a date shake or looking for a fun roadside stop, Hadley’s is worth the detour.
This is not your grandparents Hadley's. It is bigger, cleaner and full of not only your grandparents favorites but also new and improved items. Beverage section has everything you may want. It is not limited. Plus it has lots of old time favorites. There is an attached café serving sandwiches and the all time favorite date shakes. Tried the banana date shake and it's my all time favorite now. Bathroom is open, big and CLEAN!
I drive from Phoenix to LA and back quite a bit and Hadley’s is always a must stop! I still remember when they were in the building behind the new storefront as a kid. Their date shakes are top notch, the store is constantly clean, and their selection of snacks is unbeatable!
What an amazing store! An incredible variety of foods, nuts, and treats. I got my mom a salad dressing there that is now her favorite dressing. Very reasonably priced.
After shopping, I had lunch there. They have your basic deli sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, pizza and the like... but the best part are the date shakes. Wow, delicious! And I'm not a date fan. Well worth stopping off for one on your way through town.
OMG the date shakes are amazing! And the store is great - lots of amazing products. We got candied orange peel, date nut bread, and date cookies. Take a few minutes to look around; it's worth the time.
This is a cool place with a lot of really niche items came for the beef jerky. The orange pepper teriyaki is so delicious if you haven’t tried it you definitely should. This is also the home of the date shake 10 out of 10 totally recommend it’s not too sweet and is made fresh. The service is great, and the staff is knowledgeable. The location is clean and plenty of parking. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Some of the things are a little pricey, but they do have plenty of cool things to look at.
When I was young I used to often visit the location they used to have in Carlsbad. Always got the date shake. It had been some 20 or so years since I had one. I was in the area and expected it to change given things change over so many years and it was pure nostalgia that the recipe is EXACTLY the same. The Date shake was just as I remembered it. It made me very happy.

If you’ve never heard of a date shake before you’re in for a real treat today! Their rich, caramel-like taste and soft texture are a perfect sweet treat on their own, or even better, in a milkshake.
It’s a great stop on your way to Palm Springs. It’s near the Cabazon Outlet stores and Casino Morongo!! It is a wonderful rest stop with small cafe, upscale gourmet food/gift shop area, restrooms and a large assortment of dried fruits and nuts.
I use to go here all the time as a child so I was very excited to come back. It's been 15 years since I was here last! We got lots of yummy snacks and of course had to get Date shakes. We even stopped in on the way back home for another Date shake but with banana this time. Very yummy! The only reason for 4 stars is because the employees there were not friendly and seemed like they didn't wanna be there. And there was also some Earwigs in the candy area but that wasn't a big deal to us??♀️
Love it here. Gotta try the date shakes, you'll never ask for anything else. They have so many good findsyou won't find anywhere else. I have to stop here every time we drive by. Highly recommend.
Ymmmm! THAT date shake was memorable! Flavorful & sweet, the taste lingers. I did my Christmas shopping here — everything DATES, dried fruits & nuts that you can imagine. A wonderful rest stop on a long road with small cafe, upscale gourmet food/gift shop area, & clean restrooms. Perfect!
I was in Date heaven! I even tried the delicious Date Shake. I'll have to try more of the food from the deli next time. We had a short visit and needed to get back on the road. We left with delicious Date bread, Date bars, date cookies and of course the star, the Date shake. We will definitely be back sooner than later.
Nice little place that will remind you of a Sprouts or Whole Foods. They have lots of varieties of dates, my favorites where the ones with pecans on them. Try their date shake while you are there too, it’s not too sweet but mild in taste.
