I really liked the place (nice view) and folks were friendly, but OMG the salad prices!!! I took the Buddha salad which was $25 thinking it would be a copious portion. See the photo. No protein.. salmon was $14 extra which would out this at $49!!! You have to be kidding.

*FIRST REVIEW IS FOR THE LODGE, 5 STARS, RESTAURANT REVIEW BELOW, 2 STARS* We loved our stay at Sunnyside Lodge over the 2025 new year’s holiday! Service was outstanding, the rooms were super comfortable, and they had lots of little extras. We really appreciated the super comfortable beds, high-quality, soft sheets, ample room space, basically everything we needed for an enjoyable short day while skiing. They even have ski lockers to store your gear. Their included continental breakfast was outstanding, we especially enjoyed the bagels and smoked salmon. Also really appreciated their afternoon freshly baked cookies and warm beverages! Beautiful location right on Lake Tahoe. The only thing that would make this stay even more perfect would be if they added microwaves to the rooms. They do have mini fridges and the restaurant kitchen is happy to warm up anything for you. The carpet on the main level can use a refresh, but I am sure they are on that. Again, their customer service is outstanding and all their employees are super helpful which we greatly appreciated. 10/10 Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again. RESTAURANT We had dinner here on New Year’s Eve upon arrival. All three of us had the halibut with greens and mashed sweet potatoes. The taste was delicious, but the portion sizes were TINY! We were so disappointed. The fish ended up being 5 ounces which is more like a lunch portion, and the mashed sweet potato and collard green portions were probably about 2-3 ounces each. For the price, they could’ve been a little bit more generous. When we addressed this with management a couple of days later, they said that we could’ve asked for more side dishes, but who has ever done that at a restaurant? We did not return to the restaurant to dine.

The food was delicious; however, the coconut crusted calamari was a little tough. The hula pie was fantastic!! The atmosphere was wonderful, and the view of the lake just makes it even more amazing!! Our server Carlin was FANTASTIC, she was so attentive, kind, sweet, and treated us like family—it was an absolute pleasure having her as our server!!

The restaurant and lodge lobby looked charming but the noise level in the wood-paneled restaurant was uncomfortable, the food was incredibly expensive for its quality and the service was incredibly slow. It took about an hour and a half to have our meal once we were seated.

We had a lovely meal at Sunnyside Restaurant, the food was delicious and our waitress was very attentive. They offer nightly specials, and on our Wednesday visit we were lucky enough to enjoy discounted sparkling wine. Both of our meals were excellent, and we shared the Hula Pie for dessert — absolutely delicious. Highly recommend, and we’d definitely return.

Went in for happy hour on Taco Tuesday. Fish and shrimp tacos were delicious. Service was good except for overcharge on bill which was quickly fixed.

Went to Sunnyside for dinner 2 weeks ago, not very crowded, but the hostess gave us the option of waiting for a waterfront table, which we did. We waited about 20 minutes when a few tables cleared and our buzzer went off. The girl then proceeded to take us to a seat against the bar. I told her she was mistaken that we had waited for a waterfront table. She informed me that the manager said those tables were for guests with reservations and I could take the table near the bar or leave, I chose option B. The depths that this place has fallen to since Covid are just sad. Please sell this place to someone who cares about the hospitality business. Even with the spectacular view, this place is no longer worth the hassles for food that has steadily declined in quality.

Do not miss out on the fries zucchini! It was delicious! We also loved the atmosphere on the lake. Plus hula pie of course!

Don and John, the lodging managers along with the rest of the staff were fabulous! Everyone made us feel at home while we stayed with them for 3-nights. We had a room that faced Lake Tahoe and the view was amazing. Great place to hang your hat for a visit to a great area.

We had lunch for 6 and we found the menu limited, premium pricing for not premium food. The cocktails were average. The seafood curry had very limited seafood and a ton of curry sauce which was way too sweet. The salmon bowl, the salmon portion was small and dry, the hawaiian chicken was dry and bland. The Fish Tacos were liked. We boated in, the guys on the tender and dock were very nice and our server was good. We were disappointed in the food. The location is amazing, but we will boat into a different restaurant next time.

Sunnyside Restaurant was delicious and just what I was looking for with a healthy option, spinach salad with salmon. They have other not-so healthy items that looked great too. And the juice is a must- passionfruit, pineapple, orange and grapefruit, I believe. I highly recommend getting a reservation in advance as the deck is quite full.

Everything is fine, guys, we ate deliciously, but after the waiter took the card the next day, strange transactions began with it. I'm not claiming anything, but there were no other options for leaking information. Check your waiters. It was August 19, at about 4PM.

We had a fabulous dinner with a lovely view of the lake. We really enjoyed the cocktails and our various entree choices. The highlights of the meal were the double rainbow out over the lake and the warm, personable service we received from Lauren, our waitress. She made great recommendations, helped us with our group photo, and checked in just enough to feel helpful and friendly but not intrusive. Great spot!

Restaurant only review: Incredibly disappointing. Service was extremely slow. We were waiting for 30 minutes for anyone to come by and ask for drinks or food. The only good thing we ordered were the Mai tais. The other drinks my friends ordered were disgusting. Everything else was subpar and extremely overpriced. My friend ordered a $60 filet and it came out moo-ing. The view is gorgeous but I have had better food at chilis. They were bringing out entrees when we still had all of our dirty plates from appetizers. It is not worth the price at all. Such a horrible night.

I arrived to Sunny side restaurant, weather was nice and location was nice as well with a great view. Had their cheeseburger with bacon and fries. Quality of food was fantastic, as well as the service. Had their ice cream cake which was finishing touch. Absolutely would recommend.

This restaurant has declined and is barely recognizable. We had always had very good food before. Yesterday, the fried calamari were nearly burnt fingers of unrecognizable white stuff inside, gross! My Thai seafood curry with coconut milk hotpot was brimming with sickly sweet broth that had neither curry nor coconut flavor, limp, lifeless lobster tail and so-so shrimp, not worth the price at all. The views are stunning, the outdoor patio is the place to be, best for drinks alone, the slushie is too sweet and unknown if there is really alcohol in it, stick with beer and wine.

We visited Sunnyside Restaurant during our trip to Lake Tahoe with our family of five and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant offers absolutely stunning views of the lake — the kind that make you want to linger a little longer. The food was delicious, with every dish tasting fresh and well-prepared. Service was decent and efficient, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended if you’re in the Lake Tahoe area!

Incredible view, but the restaurant has sadly lost its way. The management clearly overbooks the place, and the servers and kitchen can’t keep up. We were a group of four. Two meals came out first, and it took over 20 minutes for the other two to arrive. We also ordered drinks but only received half the order—and what did arrive was wrong. No one offered water refills or asked if we wanted another drink all night. The waiters were running around like headless chickens, so I can’t say I’m surprised. The food was decent when it finally arrived, and the views are still wonderful, but they either need more staff or fewer guests

We paddleboarded to this spot and waited at the bar for our table. The view is absolutely gorgeous, which is clearly part of what you’re paying for. Drinks were on the pricier side and a bit weak, so I’d recommend sticking with beer. Food was also a little pricey, but again—you’re really paying for the atmosphere and amazing view. We had the fried calamari, fish tacos, and one other dish I can’t quite remember. Everything was just okay—nothing really stood out. That said, our server was great, super friendly and attentive. Overall, it’s a decent spot if you’re looking to relax, have a drink, enjoy the view, and nibble on a few bites.

My wife and I visited the Sunnyside Restaurant & Lodge for a wedding reception this past weekend, and while this was a special event, the staff all did a fantastic job keeping up with our requests. The cocktails were quite good, with a solid assortment to suit every taste. The food was delicious, and we ensured that none of it went to waste. We don't get up to Lake Tahoe very often, but this is a place I would definitely recommend for a group meal or cocktails near the water.

We enjoyed a Kimo pie remembering days in Maui ..before kicks burned..views and the burgers and tacos..great… ahem… but taco Tuesday should be ALL day. Starts at 4 so please pay double for your marg at 2pm! Hmm. Not a fan..and we had a Huli Huli ordered at our table. It was want back in favor of a burger as it was chopped chicken w bad rice and teriyaki sauce..it did look like a nursing home or hospital meal. The check came and the waitress did not take the meal|Off? Hmm I guess message is go after 4 for better pricing.. and stick w basic bar food to be safe. Views unbeatable ..watching the boats getting dropped by lift Into the lake is great.. skilled people. Overall needed more staff to max selling drinks, clearing plates ..the t shirt booth was doing a brisk summer business impressive.

I'm giving this place three stars, mainly for the VIEW! Arrived right at 11 AM when the restaurant opened and snagged a spot on the patio with a jaw-dropping view of Lake Tahoe and the boats. The staff was friendly, but they make you wait until the clock strikes 11 before taking your name. The wait wasn't too bad though. Our waiter was super nice and gave us some great food recommendations. We tried the halibut, halibut macaroni salad, and bok choy salad, all of which were delicious. The only downside was the rice - it seemed like it had been sitting out for a while and was as hard as a rock. If you order the halibut, make sure to ask for fresh rice! The real star of this place is the amazing views, so if you're all about that scenic dining experience, this is the spot for you. Oh, and the soda was flatter than a pancake - definitely skip that!

Review about restaurant only: We were seated right on the water, super pretty view of the lake. Our waiter Bode was friendly and attentive and our food came out fairly quickly. My favorite was the fried zucchini, and their salmon bowl was pretty good too.

Overall experience has declined - the deck was a beautiful spot to enjoy the lake view, but it definitely needs some love. Hard to find a clean spot that is not covered in food leftovers or outdoor smear of weeks, or find a functioning chair/non-shaky table. Food is average at best, most N/A drinks are pure sugar. We've been twice last week and won't come back, options like Gar Woods or Chamber's Landing are a better experience at similar price.

Over priced for the quality of service we received. The waitress never bothered to check in if we needed anything even though she walked past empty glasses frequently. When asked for more water she would get side tracked easily and never return. I had to ask three times for the bill. Lazy and inexperienced or management not properly training folks. Can’t say I’d return anytime soon.

Best patio in Lake Tahoe! It helps that the drinks and food are always fantastic. But also the service, we had a couple of little ones with us that ended up spilling a glass of water early in the meal. A complete accident but the manager reacted with urgency to get us dried off, a new glass of water and replaced the kids activity book before any tears were shed. Overall a great visit that we ended up going twice during our trip.

This restaurant is a go once kind of place: food is alright but your mostly paying for the view, was $22 for a calamari appetizer which included 4-5 pieces of small sticks and $30 for 2 tacos. Our server was pretty nice, provided lots of water refills and attention to accommodate given allergies. Unfortunately, our table was shaking the whole time, broken from the base. After our waiter got under the table and failed to fix anything another worker was able to fix the table. They were really kind about it but it felt oddly unprofessional for an overpriced dinning experience.

We’ve always loved the Sunnyside restaurant and have gone for years, but only recently realized you can actually stay on-site. We’ve now spent Father’s Day weekend here a few years in a row, and every visit has been incredible. It’s become one of my daughter’s favorite places to stay—they love the cookies at 3pm and could spend hours just throwing rocks into the lake. It’s such a great family-friendly spot. Lisa was amazing—so kind and helpful, and really elevated the whole experience. We were welcomed with champagne, had an incredible breakfast each morning, and even got a 10% discount on a boat rental through Sunnyside Watersports (thanks for letting us know about it). Everything from the hospitality to the lakeside setting makes this place special. We can’t wait to come back again next year!

We are former Bay Area residents, and return often to Tahoe for family vacations. This trip was with another adult couple, family too.||We booked their Most expensive King Suite, and booked through Open Table dinner for my wife ON HER BIRTHDAY at Sunnyside. I requested through the app a nice table since we were celebrating her birthday. I also confirmed with the restaurant staff the day before our dinner (we were here four nights) that we would get a good table. Their exact reply was "we will try but not guarantee..." ||When we showed up for dinner we found out they decided not to open the restaurant and they put us in the bar, under a TV, at a door that was bumping be all night as people came in from the deck (it was opening night on the deck!). There was a Golden State basketball playoff game going on, and lots of yelling in the bar. Normally, that's fun. But we wanted, and paid for, a nice birthday experience. This was not that experience. I was embarrassed over the whole disappointment.||We had dinner the night before at their sister restaurant Jake's, and it was wonderful, service great, and the place was 80% empty. Had we known they were only serving in the bar, they had ample times to advise us. ||Now the room - For the "king suite" I expected a nice view. We had stayed before in other Lakeview rooms that were beautiful. The king suite has a large view of the boat ramp, parking lot, then the lake. The room is large, I'll give them that. We watched all the boats going into the water (as they were "opening up: for the season", we watched a guy building and staining a hut/building that I guess is for seasonal service.|The maintenance in the room is also lacking. One would expect this time of year would be the lull between the busy seasons, and they would be ready. The shower handle came off in my hand one day. The shampoo pump never worked right, in spite of me telling the front dest multiple times about it, a dresser drawer was stuck open when we opened it because the inside was coming apart and a wood screw blocked it operation, the door stopper was sitting on the floor of the closet, one of the Ratan chairs in our room has a big hole in it and we were afraid to sit in it, my lamp shade only stayed on the bedside lamp if I leaned it against the wall, some of our bathroom towels actually had holes in them and the rooms really need a refresh. The TV in the suite area was "smart", but the bedroom tv "dumb" so no streaming possible.||I recognize the pandemic and inflation have put pressures on small businesses, and many struggle to maintain their stature in the face of these factors. However the room rates reflect a resort ready for business, not one with maintenance issues.||And the blunder to take a booking in their beautiful dinning room, with notes for a "special occasion" and then jam us into the bar is without justification; its just sloppy and shows no evidence of putting your guests first.

first arrived at the lodge after spending some time in Mammoth for a ski trip. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the wonderful news that we could enjoy free champagne, and there was also a lovely tea time with biscuits. Our room, which had one queen-sized bed and a sofa bed, was bright and inviting, with a beautiful view of the lake. During tea time, we enjoyed more biscuits and had access to a variety of books and board games, all while taking in the stunning lake view. The lodge is conveniently located near the resort, making it easy to get to and from the slopes. The next morning, we went down for breakfast, which offered a wide selection, from pastries to bagels with salmon. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, especially with the crackling wood fire nearby. For dinner, we dined at the lodge’s restaurant downstairs, which had a more upscale feel. The service was excellent, and we made our choices quickly. I ordered the salmon rice bowl, which included vegetables, rice, and a flavorful sauce with a perfect balance of acidity, sweetness, and spice. I will say, though, that the salmon was slightly overcooked. My brother had the fish and chips, and the fries were absolutely delicious—crispy and savory. My dad chose the ribs, which were sweet and spicy. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lodge
