Al and his team are the best! I've been a customer for a few years now and have brought several modern and classic vehicles in for a variety of services and I've always been very happy with everything. They're ready for my appointment time, do all the work right, and it's usually ready before I expect it. Just check out how clean and organized their shop is and you'll know that Al runs a 1st class operation which allows them to fully focus on YOUR car.
They got me in and out very quickly for a fair price. They cleaned up my battery and threw in some new wiper blades at no extra charge. Very polite and friendly.
Al is a very good mechanic. I had a tough issue with my Ford truck where it was throwing a bunch of ABS brake system error codes. Al chased it down and made the repairs at a fair price.
Al was friendly and helpful. I showed up at 8:00 am, explained the problem, South County assessed the issue, got back with me and fixed the problem, and my truck was ready to go at 2:30 the same day.
Great service at a decent price. Took the car thinking I may need all 4 brakes done. They called within an hour to advise I only needed rear brakes/rotors and the front was ok. Questioned them on surfacing rotors vs replacement and was told there was too much damaged on the existing ones. They were quick and friendly. Turned my car around in about half a day. Price is a little higher than expected. They are not the cheapest guys and you do get what you pay for. I was satisfied with the work and would return again.
Able to accommodate a quick turn around. Advice was great and offered alternate solutions based on budget. I explained that we do a lot of towing so he made recommendations on that. Great service and I highly recommend them.

Al is the best! I was introduced to him by my (then) girlfriend about 8 years ago because he had been helping maintain the 4 vehicles for her family, including a 20-year old mercedes and a 15 year old minivan. He doesn't recommend services that you don't need and his work is always thorough and reliable. I've recommended him to my parents and two sisters and he services their cars as well.

Great and honest service! Unlike some other places, they do not force you their disk re-surfacing service if there is no need for that! It is owner operated which is a big plus! He is very friendly and professional. He offered me using high quality OEM disks and pads which I accepted. Very happy with their service and price was reasonable too.
I had an awesome experience. I had some problems with my brakes and the first mechanic, recommended by a friend, told me that everything (rotors, calipers,...) would need to be changed and everything would cost about $1600. I am glad I decided to get a second opinion and listened to these reviews. South County Brakes told me what needed to be repaired exactly (definitely not everything), plus an oil change, and it was like 5x cheaper.
Very thankful to this business. I'm from out of state, visiting local area for a couple days and my 2013 Scion XB started making a noise in 1 of the wheels. I look for and read reviews on Google and choose here. They were able to get my car in a few hours later for inspection and after I agreed to the recommendation they fixed the issue for a reasonable price. Waited to write the review to make sure work was legit and will say almost 1000 miles later back home it's noise free and glad I was able to support local area business.
I was new to the area and had 3 different friends and colleagues recommend South County to me when I needed brakes for my wife’s SUV. That was 5 years ago and since then I’ve gone back for several different things on several cars. At this point I don’t even shop around to make sure I’m not over paying because they’re always very competitive. Trust is hard to come by these days and I’ll tell you what, not having to worry about the car that carries my wife and children around is priceless. I always recommend these guys to people and you will too.
My 1st experience was excellent, great work and honest pricing. My 2nd experience was not so good, excellent work and extreme price gouging. I don't think I will come back. I was charged double for aftermarket rotors of what OEM would cost, and that's my price, not wholesale. Needles to say, I felt extremely disappointed, a bait and switch.

After getting tired of being what I felt was excessively charged for service and repairs to my vehicle by the dealer as well as being "upsold" on services that really were not necessary, I found South County Brake and Auto Service. Al has been wonderful in getting the actual work that needs to be done completed and doing it at a fair and reasonable price. My repair work has been done expeditiously as well. I've been going to Al for over 10 years and it's so nice to know that I'm dealing with someone who is honest and trustworthy. Being a woman who doesn't know anything about cars, I always worry that I'm either going to get ripped off, overcharged, or taken advantage of. I don't have any of those worries at South County Brake! Highly recommend!
For 20 years, Al has serviced my vehicles. He is extremely honest and describes what should be fixed to insure no future problems, and what, at a minimum NEEDS to be fixed. I own three vehicles with over 200,000 miles and one with 340,000 miles thanks to South County Brake.
