Got towed. Completely my fault. I was directed to their location by the Sherrif's department. I called over there and the lady on the phone quickly confirmed they had my car. When I went to pick it up the guy at the window couldn't have been nicer. I was respectful and he was respectful in return. It's great to have my car back!
Private Property Tow (CA Vehicle Code 22658): If the car is still on the private lot, the driver must release it if you are present, regardless of whether you have cash. Twice now i’ve seen this towing company break this law.
Tow truck driver ripped the bumper and grill off the vehicle. Wouldn't acknowledge the damage when confronted, denied responsibility fled and continued to take vehicle. Train your drivers properly.
Most predatory towing company ever!!! Towed my car only LESS THAN 5 MINUTES after my parking had expired. It’s like they just sit there and wait like a hawk. I got my car back within 30 mins of it being towed and it was $420. They charged an extra $80 because it was a weekend. Absolutely insane
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place towed my car 30 minutes before the last business closed in the parking lot which is illegal. They don’t care about people they only care about money there way of life is disgusting they aren’t professional at all.
This place is trash I called to get info on a car they towed on Xmas eve day that had been parked in the same parking space assigned to the apt for over 13 mths, when called to get info they were very rude and hung up on me with out answering my questions or anything, horrible service n you can hear the female in the back saying we don't give discounts! Like who even said about discounts I askedsince when did we need a permit?! Since we had lived same place 13 mths n never had one n that car had been there since day one!
My vehicle was towed by Mr. C’s Towing, Inc., owned by Kurtis McElroy. If you search his name along with City of Seal Beach, you can find all of his business information and insurance.
The tow occurred at Bay Hill Apartments in Long Beach.
California Vehicle Code § 22658 states that residential properties must have specific, clearly visible tow-warning signs at every entrance (17”×22” with 1-inch lettering, listing the towing company and law enforcement phone number). The entrances at this property did not have the required signage.
When I picked up my vehicle, the written authorization, which legally must show the authorized agent’s signature, name, and reason for the tow, had the entire authorization section removed on my copy. California law allows redaction of some personal info, but not removal of the authorization itself.
The tow-inventory sheet stated “no damage,” but my vehicle had new scratches on release. Only one unclear pre-tow photo was provided.
I sent a written request for a refund and copies of the authorization, but I received no response. I have since filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, California Attorney General, and Long Beach Police Department for review under Vehicle Code § 22658.
If this happened to you, here are steps you can take to recover your money (all based on California law):
1. Take photos of the entrance to see if the required signage is posted. 2. Request a copy of the written tow authorization. They must provide a redacted copy within 24 hours upon request. 3. File a complaint with: • Better Business Bureau (BBB) • California Attorney General • Department of Consumer Affairs • Local Police Department (unlawful tow report) 4. Check your tow receipt and if no authorizer is listed, or the authorization is missing, the tow may be unlawful under § 22658. 5. File in Small Claims Court. California law allows recovery of the full tow fee plus statutory damages up to 4× the amount if the tow violated § 22658.
I hope this information helps others understand their rights and what steps to take. Always verify signage and request a copy of the written authorization and photos when retrieving your vehicle.
Incorrectly and illegally towed AWD car mechanically destroying it, then further damaged all 4 wheels, ripped off rear bumper, backed into side of it, and ripped parts off underside of car when dragging it around their yard. Terrible attitudes, awfull human beings. Tony intentionally never calls back to make your bill just go up. "GM" Rikki was a real piece of work, chill out big man, no one cares you were a grunt in the army 30 years ago. Won't give out insurance information, doesn't have a claim sheet for damage or missing items, didn't take appropriate pictures, see ya in court.
my car got towed and i tried calling to get it back and they gave super bad attitude and called me a racist word. i get that i am the one getting a car towed but they should have some respect for paying customers. wouldn’t recommended getting towed by them.
They take your car with people in it and even if you have handicap...don't let it be a weekend if you don't have the money as soon as you realized they have your car ,when monday comes it'll be between 500-600 to get your car out they also laugh at you and play games with you when its time to pick your car up...very unprofessional...I can honestly say I DO NOT LIKE MR.C'S TOWING
Charged $436 dollars to pick up my car after being towed from a AutoZone parking lot in Long Beach on Anaheim Street. I Was patronizing Alex's Bar next door for a music show. There was no spaces left in the venue lot and 2 parking lots are connected via driveway and it was after store closing hours. Came back to find my car missing what a rippoff.
One of the worst towing services I have ever experienced. The staff are extremely rude and unfriendly. Their prices are outrageously high—probably the highest in all of Los Angeles County. Avoid this business at all costs—you will be ripped off. After paying an already hefty fee, I still had to wait a long time just to get my car released. When I asked about the delay, the person at the counter simply told me to wait, treating me as if I had done something wrong. Even after paying such an unreasonable amount, the disrespectful attitude was unbelievable. Stay far away from these people.
At the apartment building, there are no signs indicating that parking in front of our garages is prohibited. My neighbors and I have parked in front of our garages for years without issue. There are no posted signage prohibiting parking in that location, as required under California Civil Code §22658(a). This code mandates that private property towing is only lawful if clear, compliant signage is posted at all entrances to the property. The only visible sign near our building states that parking is reserved for tenants, which I am, and there have been no changes communicated regarding our parking policy. This morning, my vehicle was towed despite other cars being parked in the same location where we regularly park. Mr. C’s Towing Company unlawfully towed my vehicle having me to pay storage fees and impounding fees.
The lady at the window was very rude and unprofessional. She refused to give her name and asked that I move in order to help the next person. There were three people behind the window, and I was ignored when I asked to speak to the person in charge.
I went to the Los Alamitos Police station to file a complaint on those crooks. I was informed that I should file a complaint against Mr. C’s Towing. I submitted a complaint with the BBB and now I will take it to civil court.
Nothing but crooks! I pulled over for about two minutes and my car was towed within the first 30 seconds. I left my hazards on, but that didn't stop them. When I get there, I'm obviously frustrated. The lady at the front told me if I didn't calm down, they wouldn't release my car back. Once I did get my car back, my engine light was on. Are you serious!? They screwed up my car. I was told, they've been scamming people at an Apartment Building in HB just waiting to tow people. Last time I checked, that was illegal.
I went in to unload some food from the car . I park in front of my parking spot . By the time I went and came out my car was gone .. $ $411.00 for the first night .. who.ever the toll guy is .is a thief.. and toll company don't suppose to even be in our apartments.. I will file a complaint on him Monday morning. With a ice agent
I mean they they towed my car with a medical service animal that just got back from being groomed and a k9.
I walked into the yard and once I saw my vehicle i see the two dogs shaking in their yard. The driver towed my vehicle from Huntington Beach to Los Alamitos all in the process of ten minutes after I let the driver know I wasn't going to be long just getting an older woman settled and bringing the dog in.
There is damage to the vehicle so who knows if ill be able to contact the manager or if I just need to go about this in a legal manner.
Mr C’s Towing towed my car and damaged the front bumper. I’ve called numerous times and was told to speak with Ricky, however he is never in the office or so I’m told.Ricky will not return my phone calls or email. Unprofessional business that won’t take responsibility for damage their tow truck caused.
dont get scammed with this towing company. they towed my personal vehicle illegally. i park only for 30minutes on a non-red zone

-check the place where you park if this company has jurisdiction on the property -ask the appt. office who ever authorized the towing ( not just only security. need to be management ) -this company name is not the same as the towing reciept. (check that)
they have a lot of illegal towing. can be filed as carnapping.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would but I'm sure they enjoy screwing up people's lives. Neighbor called to have a whole separate car towed. Onsite for 10mins unloading groceries and furniture and they came and told my car instead. Instead of fixing their mistake because their driver is clearly incompetent, they still charged me. No accountability whatsoever.

This place towed my vehicle from my apartment building parking area despite the fact that I pay for the parking and have the permit on my vehicle that authorizes me to be able to park there. Possibly considering persuing this in small claims as this cost me around $309 to pick up my car that they towed just 2 hours before i had to go to my shift at work. Causing me to lose a day of pay on top of the issue at hand.
I would give it 0 stars because they been towing cars from our apartmwnts because our management calls them everyday to tow our cars. They towed our car from the handicapped for being there for more than 48 hours yet it doesn't say on the sign plus they didn't put it on the reason as to why it was towed. They put that it was inoperable. They should refund us for this illegal tow because our car is operable.
I never leave reviews. But with this incident the public should know. Going through the process of receiving your car out of the impound could be a real bummer. To make things smoother it would be suited to call ahead to get proper information of the documents and information needed to get your car. The first day of assisting with retrieveing a car out the impound, we called THIS COMPANY over 5 times to make sure we were prepared when receiving the vehicle. We received different information each time we called. One question that was asked was " What forms of payment do you take". THEY SAID ALL FORMS. I would think that's a very important question when paying a business over $1000. After gathering ALL the information that was needed, we went to receive the vehicle. While submitting all of the documentation to the lady at the window, SHE FINALLY SAID ALL THE FUNDS NEED TO BE IN ONE FORM. EITHER ALL CASH OR ALL ON ONE CARD. This is a task that could be taken care of prior to driving to the tow yard. By the time we came up with the funds in one form, the lady at the window told us THEY were now closed. They closed at 5. It was 4:58. We got there at 2:30. She also said if we come and pick up the next day, it would be an additional $264. Highway ROBBERY! The next morning we called to make sure things were still in process and we had all the funds in one form, the registered owner had to work and could not be present but was present the day before and signed documents. The same lady at the window watched us stay there all day until the registered owner was present and did not release the vehicle until 8:00pm that evening. She even lied to the police to further hold up the release. This was a quick $1200 to make as a business owner and not hold up people's lives. What a waste of time. Be aware of employees and their power over businesses. 0 stars!!!!
This is less about the fact that my car got towed and more to do with a worker they have working overnight by the name of Candice. Truly disgusted by her attitude and telling me to calm my emotions down. She answered with an attitude and even hung up on me and told me I shouldn’t have been parked in a certain space. She wouldn’t tell me her last name and was even less helpful about where and how to to get the car back. I ended up being able to work with someone else there to get my car back. I would avoid this place at all costs if you can.
They lied about everything when my car was stolen they wouldn't even let my personals out of it and then tried to send me to collections after i signed the car over for storage fee's. This place sucks and the ppl answering the phones have a lot of I DON'T KNOW THAT INFORMATION as answers so they shouldn't be in business w employees that dont know answers on how to run it much less the laws they have to follow to operate. Im already filing a claim to take them to court over the issues they caused me,i was a victim and they just wanted more money from me. They weren't helpful or understanding at all and didnt even try to wk w me to let me at least get what wasnt stolen from my car. That's says a lot about the owner of this company. I know its a business but they could care about the ppl they serve more and they'd be better received in review. Cuz it wasnt my fault the car was there yet i was treated like it was and told well ur gonna have to pay at least 400 to even see the car to get ur stuff out of it. Thats not ok.
