BAD EXPERIENCE! They draw out your repair and in the end cannot fix what they are supposed to! They make up stupid reasons while the mechanics stand around talking and not doing any work on the cars. They cannot get parts anymore and it seems like the business has many locations closing! AVOID THIS AND ALL PEP BOYS! Get a reliable mechanic!

Had a tire coming apart on the freeway during a work trip late on a Sunday around 4:40 PM. Most tire shops were closed or about to close. I tried Costco first, but their service was terrible — the manager basically said, “absolutely not.” Then I called the team at Pep Boys. They actually checked to make sure they had the tire I needed and told me to come in. They welcomed me in, and despite being close to closing, they worked hard to get me back on the road. I ended up buying a full set of four tires, and these guys stayed past closing time to finish the job. Super thankful for their willingness to help — they could’ve easily said no, but they didn’t. These guys are the real deal!

Don’t recommend this place at all. Rude management and to to “busy” to work on car I had to drive to the RSM location where those guys are actually really helpful. The turnaround time is a lot better and their communication time is through the roof. Don’t come to this one. I would recommend going to the one in RSM. They will treat you right.(:

I get that they weren't a reccomend3eed provider for my can warranty...they could have just refused to check my car out instead of making me pay 100 for an inspection for things I already know is wrong with my cat hence my reason for bringing it in. They didn't have to lie to me about how they supposedly submitted what needed to be fixed to my warranty company...they didmt dubmit shit. That's just working in bad faith. They told me what they charge is more than what my warranty company is willing to pay for labor. I knew I was being lied to so I called my warranty company and it turns out my warranty company never got a call about my cat at all or submission after sitting in that shop untouched for 3 weeks.

I had an appointment scheduled for 4:00 PM and dropped off my car at 1:00 PM for a simple two-tire replacement, which typically takes about 30 minutes. However, I never received any update. When I called around 4:45 PM, Enrique informed me that my car wouldn’t be worked on until the next day. I explained that I had made the appointment two days in advance and needed the car early the next morning. He dismissed my concern, stating that the corporate appointment system is “useless” and that the online appointments don’t reflect actual availability. I pointed out that this should have been communicated when I dropped off the car, but he was completely unapologetic and indifferent. Very disappointing experience — appointments should mean something, and customers deserve better communication and respect for their time.

The AI review of this shop needs to update itself. Oil changes are NOT fast and efficient. It took three and a half hours (with an appointment that I had booked last week!) and it was only three and a half hours because at the three hour mark, I said that I was done waiting and would kindly take my car back. Suddenly it was finished in 20 minutes. If I hadn't said anything, I think I would have been in that waiting room for several more hours. It was also VERY overpriced for just a simple oil change. GO ELSEWHERE FOLKS!

The team at this location was top notch. I had an emergency situation with my vehicle and needed the service done same-day. I went in and they were very accommodating. Alfonso helped me pick the right tires for my needs. Carlos did an amazing job helping with every part of the service of my vehicle. He even put the spare tire back in position for me on my truck. And finally...Matt, the Store Manager, was very courteous and helped close the transaction and answer any final questions I had. One thing I thought was amazing was that they called me right before doing the actual work to verify everything they were about to do was what I expected. Nobody else has ever done that. Thanks so much guys!!! I would strongly recommend this location for any service or tire needs!

I had a very disappointing experience at the Pep Boys shop in Lake Forest. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change at 9:30 AM, expecting a timely service. However, I did not receive any updates until 5:30 PM, when they finally called to inform me that my car was ready. When I arrived to pick it up, there was no acknowledgment or apology for the lengthy wait. This lack of communication and disregard for my time is unacceptable. I would not recommend this location based on my experience.

Disappointed with Pep Boys on Lake Forest Drive, Lake Forest, CA. They have been OK in the past, this time it was way below expectations. - Service advisor seemed lost most of the time, had to check with tech to answer each simple question. - I came in for new front tires loosing some pressure with 1 day. Their answer = "the weather causes this". Such an insult to my intelligence and to their professional image... - They found a small nail in a rear tire. Told me they can easily fix it but the corporate policy does not allow that. Instead wanted me to buy new tires. Almost feels like a scam, definitely not up to the image Pep Boys want to project. - Service advisor gave me two contradictory answers to my simple question "what was the front tire pressure when you got the car" ? His answer : 32 PSI. After asking again, his answer was 31 PSI. Didn't feel very reassuring. - They scheduled me to come in at 10:30AM. I knew this is check would not take long. No contact until 5PM. When I called they said my car is "next in line" and they are very busy. I observed maybe 2 techs working that day, no more. If they could not get to my car until almost closing time, why did they ask me to leave it there at 10:30AM ? All in all a very disappointing experience. Surprising, since they were quite OK previous times. It seems this store need serious management review and improvement.

SCAM alert! Pep Boys appointment setting feature on the website will not be honored at the Lake Forest location. Today, I showed up at my appointment ID (0798 56979587) at 10 am. I was told that my oil change would take 2 hours. At the 2 hour mark, I was told it may take another hour. They lost my trust and I left the store. Jiffy Lube saved the day!

My OEM shocks lasted 10 yrs and 85000 miles. Replaced them at Pep Boys in May 2023. 12500 miles and 2 years later, a different Pep Boys is telling me they're leaking and need replacement? What sort of crap quality parts are they selling? I now drive less than 6000 miles a year and 85% on OC/LA freeways so not really on pothole-riddled roads... Conveniently, warranty is only good for 12 months or 12000 miles. Advised repair parts needed to be located and repairs will take 4 more hours of my precious time. As a primary caregiver I get 36 hours a week to myself. Thanks, Pep Boys.

5/5. Fernando provided my service portion. He went out of his way to get the best parts at the lowest price. I think mgt got mad about him working OT so he had to clock out. After he clocked out, he still answered questions I had while he was walking out. Pepboys is lucky to have someone like Fernando. Eddie was the tech that fixed my problem. Eddie was great too. Everything seems to be running well now.

I’ve been going to this Pepboys for years and I’ve see a few changing of managers and mechanics in there. The group in their right now is by far the best. I like how they’ve made the waiting room more inviting. They have always been honest and upfront. They don’t try to pressure you into services. Great team!!

I went to this Pep Boys location in Lake Forest to get two new tires for my van, and I received excellent service from Fernando. PepBoys Lake Forest helped me investigate what was making a noise when I turn my car a hard right or left & to find out whether my SUV was safe to drive? They thoroughly investigated the suspension & steering to help me to resolve the problem. They were courteous and helpful!

I went to this place three times. The first time was for a battery replacement. At that point, I was made aware that one thing needed to be replaced, and I was quoted a price. The second time I was there, I got an oil change. Again, I made them aware of the same thing that needed to be replaced. Also, I feel the oil change inspection was not done right. They never checked my wipers or my lights around the car. For an entire week, I called to get the lower transmission mount ordered to get the process going. I was given the runaround because the guy wasn't at work. They finally called by the end of the week, but it was to a different person in my family. The third time I was there, I dropped my car off on a Sunday morning for the wipers and lights to be replaced because they failed to check them the first time. Again, I got a quote for the lower transmission mount, and it was a different price, double what I was told before. I know I needed this thing fixed, so I'm like, okay, whatever, let's do it. I was also told they needed to check something, but I recall never hearing a price. When I was texting back and forth with them on Monday, they had had my car for over 24 hours for two wipers and one tail light. I was also told they replace working tail lights if they are working because they don't want to be blamed for it. When I was on the phone with them, they told me they couldn't do the wipers because it's a dealership thing, and they replaced the lights. The quote for the things that needed to be replaced was outrageous for a person who brought their car back again and again. When I heard the price changed again for the lower transmission mount, I was done. Each time, the price was getting more and more. I asked the guy if he could honor what I was quoted, and he said no because it was a different part. I went to pick up the car after 4 pm on Monday. I saw the bill, which was outrageously high, and I paid for it. I didn't approve for all my back lights to be changed. They did it without my okay. My front wipers were replaced. Remember, on the phone, they said it was a dealership thing. What they should have stated clearly was that they replaced the two front ones, and the back one is a dealership thing. I went back in after I paid to clearly understand. They were like, we gave you the lights for free. He was like, they were three bucks. As I'm looking at my bill, there's a charge of 99.99. I am pretty sure they snuck that in there. They needed to run that test to tell me what was already broken was broken. I had to bring it back the third time because they failed to do the oil change inspection correctly, and then I got charged an extravagant amount of money for things I didn't get. The last part wasn't replaced because I felt like when I would have picked it up after the lower transmission mount was done, the price would have been higher because of hidden fees. Again, the last time I was there, I dropped it off at 12 ish on Sunday, and it wasn't done till Monday at 3:19 for two wipers and a back light. I just feel like the Communication wasn’t clear And they just want to make money. If they took away the 99.99 I would have done more work there, but since I feel like I can trust them, we are done

Thank you for consistent quality and prompt service. Guys in front are courteous and respectful. The guys in the back were careful and caring of the cars. I can always count on Fernando to make sure my car is taken good care of. I’ve been taking my car here for over 5 yrs!

I have a fleet car and chose Pep Boys for my repair due to their location across from Brio Brio where I knew I'd be happy to sit in while they did the work. Fernando is the epitome of excellent customer service. He was in constant communication with me on the timeline and was accurate with his estimate and ETA of when the repairs would be finished. I would highly recommend him and this shop

Brought in my daughter’s Camry for brake inspection and the customer service rep checked the car in and after inspection he provided us with a complimentary full inspection report indicating that the brake pads were good and no service was recommended. Very professional and honest service Will definitely return for my brake needs in the future. Thank you PepBoys !

On December 1, 2024, I contacted Pep Boys in Lake Forest for tire pricing. Matthew, the General Manager, was exceptionally courteous and knowledgeable. He provided his best price and assured me there was no pressure to decide immediately. After comparing prices, I found his offer unbeatable. When I visited the store to replace my tires, their efficiency further enhanced my experience. I highly recommend Pep Boys for both competitive pricing and excellent customer service.

I had a very unpleasant experience and won't be returning. I made an appointment for vehicle maintenance at 10 AM on February 1st through the Caradvise app. I arrived on time and, after checking in, was told it would take about an hour. So, I went to a coffee shop nearby to wait. After a little over an hour, I returned to the store and found that my car's maintenance hadn't even started. Meanwhile, a lady who checked in after me had already completed her service and left with her car. It was only then that they started working on my car. I ended up waiting an additional 45 minutes standing there before the service was finally completed. I'm not sure what caused this apparent discrimination, making me wait till the end to be serviced. Also, they didn't put any protective covers on my seat and steering wheel during the maintenance, resulting in some grease on my steering wheel.
