Very unprofessional- Over an hour late without any updates and later called to say a tow would be several hundred dollars more than originally quoted. Highly do not recommend Milne or Cal-Nevada Towing
The tow estimate was 3 hours and ended up needing to wait a few extra hours before the truck arrived. Cal-Nevada towing has much better service and communication.
They must be Milneionaires charging these prices..
I was charged $150 by Richard to get one backpack out of my vehicle because it was "outside of normal business hours", even though he was there and the door was open.. You know you're getting screwed when the 60 year old tow truck driver is wearing squeaky clean Calvin Klein shoes..
Cost me over $700 total for 1 hour 15 minutes of towing and about 30 hours of impound.
There is another driver there named Rich who is actually a good guy and tried to help me get the costs down, but a manager named Joe refused to budge on the extra $150 they charged me.
I called for a tow and was quoted a reasonable price. I had to make some financial arrangements to make this work, and when I called back, in less than an hour, a different person answered the phone. I explained who I was and that I had called earlier. He pulled up my information and quickly said, "Oh, so sorry, sir, for your troubles. I see you need to go 114 miles. The total cost will be $4,780."
I said, "NO! That is not the amount I was quoted. I was told it would cost $1458!!"
He said, "That's the price. What time do you want my driver there?"
I chose NOT to use this company.
I found four other companies that charge anywhere from $1600 to $1900.
Literally the only towing company that would come tow us early Saturday morning in the snow. Every other plane we called said they couldn't do it. Also driver was professional, friendly and charged us let than we were quoted.
Better than the 1st place I called. I was facing a 2 hr wait when 1st company called back saying they had to double the rate due to their driver having to travel a longer distance. I called milne and they said they would be there in a half hour. That beat waiting for four hours for a company who promised 1 rate and changed it plus the time it would take to get to me.
Milne towing (driver Richard) came through big time for us. Did a great job not further damaging the vehicle on a difficult recovery. Highly recommend.
They advertise as a 24/7 outfit, yet they have not one truck available for a call. They said they're all booked out at the moment. “Okay... So, what about when the next truck is done with its current call? Nope. Not helping you get unstuck, ma'am ! “

Milne Towing is in partnership with local Pizza Hut off 7th street, towing cars from empty parking lot every night. They were rude, dirty, and mishandled vehicle they towed
Richard is on an ego trip. Has horrible customer service. Will Charge you for random things never mentioned in the beginning and will hold your car hostage. If you have any other options take them. Don't get frustrated and robbed by these crooks!
I own a local roadside assistance business in the area. Normally I'm the one getting called out to rescue somebody. My girlfriend and I were in a hurry to get back to Reno to see our friend in the hospital on her death bed. While towing my rv, we had major engine problems near mammoth lakes. 15 minutes later, we got the call that our friend had passed! Stranded and emotional, we slept in our rv @ zero degrees. Realizing that I couldn't fix my own breakdown.......I called Milne towing. They arrived promptly and towed us home 190 miles. The driver was extremely careful with our rig & very courteous.
If i could give this review no stars i would. So i locked my keys in my truck and called Milne towing. Gave me the price and i said" i will pay i need the service to be done between 5:20pm and 10:00pm." Im at work working and waiting for a call from someone and soon 9:50 i finally got tired and called the company back different dispatcher answered and i asked where the driver is. She said apparently no one was sent. So i told her "i would like a driver to come and unlock my truck." She said it would be 40 minitues for him to get out there. My co worker was nice enough to stay so i can be nice and warm since i was locked out in tahoe city. The driver shows up and unlocks my truck. And i ask him if theres a supervisior i can talk to to get a little bit lower fee after 40 minutes after 10:00pm. He was nice and lowered the price and i tipped him and he said someone today would get ahold of me today to see what happened. NO CALL ALL DAY TODAY. Very unsatisfactory coustomer service.
I was in dire need of having my car towed to an automotive shop for repair and was told that there were three pick-ups before me. That would have put my car at the automotive shop after hours. When one if their trucks pulled up to the gas pumps while we were on the line with dispatch, they made arrangements to tow my car then and there!!! Thank you guys so much!!! Richard is the best!! You saved the day and i was able to make it home safely!!!
Just finished dealing with them. We got stuck in a parking lot because we were dumb and drove down an icy hill. AAA quoted us 4 hours as a response time. Milne was there in 40 minutes at 7pm on a Saturday. The driver was great and got us out quickly (he was literally running back and forth to get the job done). Totally saved our butts.
Out of state tourists visiting Truckee to spend our money locally during Truckee Thursday. Arrived around 12:30 pm to see the town and stay until the vendors arrived. Paid for parking until 6 pm. Local police called Milne Towing to tow our rental car at 3:10 pm because, unknown to us, we were in a parking lot where the food vendors would be setting up their tents. It took Milne towing exactly 30 minutes from the time of the call until they returned to their shop with our car. Exactly 2 hours passed until we arrived to reclaim our car. Milne Towing held our car hostage until we paid them $465.00! Highway robbery (literally)! What a nice racket between the local police and the towing company to rob from the tourists!! Employee (Richard) from Milne Towing, refused to lower the fee and/or call the owner for approval to do so. $270.00 towing fee when requested by police,$75.00 storage fee (REALLY??), and $120.00 gate fee (???). Milne Towing posts reasonable fees on their website! What a joke! We will never return to Truckee.
Exceptional customer service in my friends time of need!!! Would recommend for anyone to use Milne Towing if you're ever in their area!!!! Very very positive experience!!!!!
HORRIBLE!! RIP OFF! Don't use them.. Awful experience with the office staff here. Pam Milne can't answer anything about price so transfers everything and you wait on hold forever.
They lied on that my car was left out a WEEK and it was only THREE DAYS then charged 700 bucks and were a pain to get the car from.
Then no one will let you pick up your car without PAM MILNE being there. I was told by the driver I could pick it up 24/7. When I alerted them i had the necessary documents to pick it up tonight, then changed their story and we had to wait an extra day. The driver and Pam were unsympathetic saying the would CHARGE another day of storage even though THEY REFUSED me the right to pick up my car the night before. THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY and DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. When I asked them a simple question about the stipulations of the tow ... the driver got mad and hung up on me! The driver was clueless on what documentation was needed and told me something different than what PAM MILNE did. NEVER USE THEM... they WILL take advantage of YOU.
Said they'd be here in 30 min. Then said they had an emergency call from CalTrans and would be here in 90 min. We were happy to wait. After over 2 hours, we called for a status update and they basically admitted to have forgotten about us. We would have understood of there were other emergencies, but they could have called to let us know.
