Angie and the employees obviously need training. AAA informed them that i would not need my AAA card because they havent sent my card yet. Angie refused to do the service request with my Drivers license. This tow service is a joke! I had to tell her how to do her job! She finally got back to me about how she would do the service in 90 min. 3 hours pass and the driver was still on its way with no communication what so ever. They costed me $500 of missed work. She is the most disrespectful person I have ever dealt with. Her attitude and tone was completely unacceptable. I have canceled my AAA membership unless they contract with a different towing company.
Very unprofessional- Over an hour late without any updates and later called to say a tow would be several hundred more dollars than originally quoted. Highly do not recommend Milne or Cal-Nevada Towing
I never thought I'd be writing a 5-star review of a tow company, but they absolutely earned it. My truck and camper were destroyed in an accident. Cal-Nevada in Truckee recovered them and got them to their yard (a complicated task of it's own). They were incredibly compassionate and helpful. They went out of their way to help me recover my stuff and work with both myself and my insurance company. Just really good people. Megan in the office was really responsive, and Steve went out of his way to make sure I had access when I really needed it. Thank you!
0 Stars is more suitable. They lied to me multiple times about the ETA, originally within the hour, an hour and a half pass by and I get a 2nd call, its going to be another 30 minutes, another 45 minutes pass by and I get a third call, from the driver this time, “Hey Im about 40 minutes away”. 45 minutes later he arrived. So multiple times I was misinformed, and I asked “will the price be reduced because of this?” The not so kind lady, Meghan implied yes. I was charged the original price, called back multiple times, to dispute and was ignored and when I finally got a hold of management, there wasn’t an ounce of sympathy shown, and she listened to the recorded calls (wouldn’t allow me to listen, hmmm wonder why?). She called me back and told me the same corporate BS that Meghan had told me. So I waited 3.5 hours for a tow that was originally said to take less than an hour, I was charged the full price even though when I asked if it would be reduced they implied yes. $300 an hour is blasphemous as is, this company will overcharge you and keep you waiting. I would advise anyone that needs a tow, to just push their car as it will be more efficient and cost you less.
This agency runs all of the services in the area and when our car broke down they wouldn't help us for 48 hrs. They are the AAA contractor for the area and prevent other agencies that WOULD be helpful from getting the contracts. This company is responsible for the bad night were having.
My car slid of the road due to snow and a difficult weather into a ditch and seemed very impossible to be towed but thankfully my insurance called this towing company Cal-Navada and the lady over the phone was very helpful and sent me two amazing individuals JOE K and Christian, both brought out my car with ease with no extra damage to my car... Steve was great after we had an electrical issue a mile out of Truckee. Somehow our call was cancelled by AAA the minute he drove up. Still he stuck around while we called again and the call was redispatched. From the initial call until the time he drove off headed toward the dealership in Reno only took about 25 minutes.
We had a flat tire about 10 mikes out of Truckee. After calling several other places, we called Cal-Nevada Towing. They made it easy. Jacob was at our car in less than half an hour and our tire fixed up quickly. He was so helpful and educational and friendly, thank you!
The dispatcher was easy to reach and communicate with - we had been waiting 3 days for a tow of our new van that had been blocking the road after the brakes failed and were relieved to finally find someone to take the job. STEVE was OUTSTANDING - he made quick work of helping to finish clearing the berm (we had done our best to keep it clear through an epic storm). His confident, competent and warm demeanor was refreshing and so appreciated, thank you Steve!!! Wanted to shower him with coffee and cookies, but he only accepted gratitude. Steve was great! Awesome really. We broke down just outside of Truckee on one of the hottest days this summer. We only waited 30 minutes, Steve showed up had us wait in his air conditioned cab while he quickly hooked up our car. We spent the next hour chatting with him as he got us back home to Auburn. Steve was very friendly and professional. Great experience in a not so great circumstance.
Our Volvo had a mechanical failure on the I-80 Freeway near Emigrant Gap (everybody was safe). First, we tried going through our insurance company to find a tow truck but they couldn't find anybody "in network". We called Cal-Nevada Towing and they showed up 30min later. Steve was calm, cool and collected. He towed our car down the Reno and had great follow up. We're really thankful for the team at Cal-Nevada Towing!
Steve, the tow truck driver, was professional in how he did his work and showed his honesty and restored my faith in humanity. I tipped him after the job and he reluctantly accepted it. 5 minutes after leaving he called me to tell me I made a mistake and accidentally gave him too much. He drove back and gave me back two hundred dollar bills I accidentally gave him when I intended to tip $40. He didn't have to do that and showed his honesty. I would recommend Steve and Cal Nevada for anyone else that needs their services.
Steve was a wonderful driver. Picked us up ahead of schedule and was very patient with our tricky pick up location at such a late time of day. Such a pleasant ride to drop us off at the auto shop and made us feel very safe in an unfamiliar area since we are from the Bay Area. Highly recommend!!
The dispatcher (Ashleigh I believe) as well as Steve (driver) saved our day!!! We sat on the road stranded for hours, having called MULTIPLE other tow companies, including AAA, with no luck. Brandon with truck 72 was a huge relief and help with towing my 1976 MCI 8. I lost track of the challenges that Brandon faced from start to the very end. Especially the end! He was always calm cool professional and constantly had the safety of ALL parties in mind at all time. These guys were amazing! I called several companies and no one was able to tow my truck and travel trailer and these guys could! And they were there in 20 minutes! The driver was great and offered me cold water and made me feel comfortable. He even put my trailer in the spot at the rv park! The ladies in the office were very nice and helpful too. I highly recommend this company for any of your towing needs!
My tow truck driver, Brandon, was fantastic. He was professional, punctual, calm, and clearly experienced in heavy duty hauling. I had to get my 15,000 lb RV towed out of Truckee and back to Oakland, Brandon was on time and took great care of my RV.

Outstanding service! Our car broke down in Truckee on a Sunday evening. AAA told us we would have to wait 3 1/2 hours for their truck to pick us up. When no one showed up, we called AAA again & they told us that it would be another 3 hours. She suggested we hire a tow truck driver directly. We contacted Cal-Nevada Towing. I first spoke with Keith who was so positive & helpful. Within minutes he arranged for one of his drivers, Steve, to pick us up. Keith texted me to let me know Steve was on the way. Steve was also really friendly & helpful. He took our cell phone numbers in case we lost each other. I only wish we would have called them first. I will never make that mistake again.
Semi broke down on the interstate. Branden arrived pretty quick. He was very personable and professional. He even gave me a ride to my hotel. Branden definitely helped a bad day to not seem so overwhelming. I’d recommend these guys to anyone needing a great tow service.
Nothing but class from top to bottom! Joe the regional manager was extremely helpful and knowledgeable with an over the phone diagnostic that turned out to be 100% accurate. His drivers are also very professional.
We are driving a Class C RV on a lifted 4x4 kit. We had a blown spark plug and requested a tow. When the original tow driver showed he was unfamiliar with towing such a vehicle so he did the professional thing of calling someone more experienced to help him out. The communication amongst themselves and with us was very respectful. They helped each other out and were transparent through the entire process.
They got the vehicle to the mechanic without any major incident. However, a minor issue occurred because of the design of our 4x4 kit. The front springs are not secured at the bottom (which we were not aware of) so when the RV was set down the spring on the passenger side missed where its supposed sit. Mistakes happen and this is a minor one, the frustrating part is the mechanic let us drive off like that on a Wednesday night. We followed up with both the mechanic and Cal-Nevada that night becuase the alignment felt off. We were told to wait until the next morning to speak with Joe the regional manager. We were able to get ahold of Joe in a timely manner the next morning. We explained the issue and he diagnosed it quickly on the phone and came to check it out in person. Within minutes he found us a solution and took care of the problem within a total 30 minutes and got us safely back on the road.
At the end of the day it doesn't bother us that the spring popped out on the original tow because had we been aware of the design we would have told the driver to keep an eye out for it. What was frustrating was that the mechanic let us drive away after doing a diagnostic and a test drive after they fixed the spark plug. The only helpful party in this situation was Joe and his team. They really took care of us.

He was professional and skilled, he made sure my tractor and trailer where secured all the way. I’ve never been glad to have been towed before... that’s how good my experience was. The response time was better than I anticipated. Brandon was awesome! Professional, motivated, safe and just a great person to interact with. He was very careful to make sure that everything was done right, but in a timely manner, and for once I don’t feel like I was overcharged for towing. If you drive trucks long enough, you’ll need to be towed, if your lucky, you’ll breakdown somewhere where these guys are available!
