What clients say about Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite in Fish Camp (CA)

I had an amazing visit to Tenaya Lodge in February. As you can see from the photographs below, the property was covered in gorgeous snow. I stayed at Tenaya Lodge for a 3-day women's retreat. I have only good things to write: our room was pristine, the banquet hall and rooms were a good temperature, clean, and beautiful, the food was spectacular (your gluten-free quiche is dreamy!), and the service was great and friendly. What a blessing to have our retreat here! Thank you Tenaya Lodge staff for the super job you do taking such great care of us on our stay! I look forward to 2027 with you, God willing. God bless you all!

Overall, our first time experience here was great. The property is beautiful, the rooms are spacious, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. However, there were several issues that took away from the experience. Parking was very difficult, we had to park on the side and walk up to register because it was completely jam packed. Our room was not ready until 10 PM, even though check-in is at 4 PM, which was very disappointing. We were staying on the 3rd floor, and the layout made accessing our room very inconvenient. Instead of taking one elevator directly to our floor, we had to take an elevator to the 2nd floor, walk across the hotel, and then use a second elevator to get to the 3rd floor. That was the only way to reach our room. Additionally, valet service took over two hours to bring our vehicle, and the water pressure in the room was very poor. They didn’t put trash bags in the trash bins. Despite these inconveniences, we did enjoy our stay, but I hope these issues can be improved for future guests.

Let me start by saying we LOVED our overall experience. We arrived on Saturday in the mid 50s and had the pleasure of playing with our teens in 2' of snow Monday. We stayed in the cottages and really liked the layout. They DO need a major refresh. Old, dated, ants, dusty vents, and could use new mattresses. We loved the activities available for kids and adults alike. Our 2 teens and 40-50 something adult parents enjoyed sledding and skating like we were kids again. We wish there was a separate pool area for adults to enjoy a less "kid friendly" hot tub option. The indoor pool area is borderline overwhelming with screaming, unattended kids (not the resorts problem, just poor parenting). We were hit with a severe winter snow storm and the staff SHINED. My wife and I both admired the front desk staff, the bar staff (Rhonda was amazing), the cleaning crew, the valet attendants, the maids, and the snow crew. I make it a point to say hello and thank the people that are often under appreciated. Ironically we observed what appeared to be either resort executives/upper management taking for granted the day to day operations/food/beverage staff on a day where weather made it hard for the staff to make it in due to road conditions. Rather than thank the few that were working their tails off or even being grateful/thankful to those that made the drive in, they sat in a corner table blissfully unaware of the efforts taking place around them. A simple "thank you" goes a long way. There are definitely 2 types of families that visit this style resort: 1. Those families that are involved and active participants with their kids. 2. Those who come and let their kids run wild with complete disregard for others. (unfortunately there were a LOT of these type parents on our trip). Rant over. In summary we would come back in a heartbeat. The location and staff were amazing. Thank you so very much.

Loved this place. The rooms were exceptional the cleanliness was excellent. Service by 99% of the staff was great. Only reason why its not 5 star review because 1 bartender got into an argument regarding 8oz of hot chocolate into 16oz cup rendering it watered down. And on a cold Winter's Night nobody likes water down hot chocolate. He literally had to read the instructions of the packet to validate our claim that the hot chocolate was watered down. And then of course ending it with a snide remark of "well if that's the way you like it". I absolutely love this place and the staff but it only takes one person to ruin your experience. I would definitely recommend this place just avoid the hot chocolate from the bartender.

Great place! It is in a wonderful setting and all in all, very well maintained. Some times there are issues with water or such things, but we always come back. They do need to bring back ice skating all day rather than the small evening window that they currently offer. Their on-site restaurant, Jackalope's needs to improve their menu and food quality for sure. It is convenient being at the hotel, but the food is never good.

Just got home from a wonderful stay at Tenaya. So much to love about this place. Service is super friendly... everyone from consirage to the restaurant staff and front desk, everyone is clearly trying to make each visit the best possible. So much to do here. Just because the location is super close to the Yosemite entrance, you are not limited to just a trip into the Park, there is iceskaking, a game room, indoor pool, spa, massages, salon.... I can go on for a while. Pet and Family friendly, this is a must visit.

Last week I booked a stay at Tenaya for my fiancés birthday. After driving a very long distance to get there we were tired but excited to get settled into our spa suite and see Yosemite. After getting settled in we went down and had some drinks and appetizers at the Jackalopes bar and grill and then shopped around in the gift shop purchasing several souvenirs and clothing items. Angela in the gift shop was very kind and informative. We decided to get changed into our bathing suites to enjoy the pool but wanted to have a couple more drinks at the Jackalopes outside patio fire pits. There were two fire pits and only one of them was lit and was being enjoyed by a small family roasting marshmallows. Not wanting to intrude on the family my wife approached a staff member (short older guy with glasses) and asked if it would be possible if the other fire pit could be turned on, as the hostess earlier that evening had told her to ask any of the staff to help with the fire pits. After asking one of the maintenance staff about the other fire pit he was extremely rude to her and was annoyed with her for asking. I walked over to see what the issue was and the man kept making side comments and was being very rude to us just for asking if we can use the other fire pit. We could sense his annoyance. My fiancé was so taken back by the interaction and was so upset as we just spent a lot of money in the bar, gift shop, and overall booking to stay there. It completely ruined the mood for the evening and was enough for us to not want to come back. Thinking back I should’ve got his name and spoken to a manager but we were both tired from a long travel and just wanted to relax and leave the following morning. We sat at the bar after swimming but was ignored and others who came in after were served before us. And the bartender kept disappearing. We got up and went to the room and ordered room service. She was very upset as it was supposed to be a relaxing birthday trip for her. After spending a good amount of money and time getting there it’s crazy how much customer service impacts someone’s stay when traveling. We did not feel very welcomed. The room also was a bit overpriced for the quality. The jetted tub is enough for 1 or two small children. Overall beautiful resort, the bar and restaurant was really nice and the amenities are great and probably even better during the spring and summer. I think it would be wise for management to brief this individual on how to treat guests and how to better their customer service skills. Not very impressed

This hotel seems to have 90% of the clientele being families with young children. I had booked this as a relaxing weekend getaway at a “resort and spa” but upon arriving we were shocked by the number of young children everywhere. The indoor pools and two hot tubs were completely full of kids, so no room for adults. We were awoken by children running up and down the halls both in front of our door and above us. The walls are paper thin so we were unable to sleep past 7am, which I suppose is when parents must awaken too. There is nothing wrong with places for young children, but I feel misled by the implication that this is a relaxing “spa-like” feel. This seems to be a key point missing from all other reviews, which is the only reason I am writing this. Great for young families, not great for adult couples looking to relax. Update: The hotel staff checked in on us during our stay and when I relayed my opinion they immediately offered to move us to an Explorer Cabin. That was amazing and thoughtful. We weren’t able to use the amenities in the way we hoped. But you couldn’t ask for better service than that!

We stayed for three nights in December and had a great time. The Cottage rooms where we stayed were a short walk from the main lodge and were very comfortable. We had dinner at the Jackalopes Bar & Grill and the Pizzeria and both places had good service and food. They had the ice rink, guided nature walks, nightly movies for the kids at the indoor pool and archery for lodge guests to enjoy free of charge. We did not get to try the archery since the line was really long. No snow yet, but I can imagine it's beautiful with snow. Beautiful decorated for the holidays, too. Yosemite entrance is also very close so a good option if you want to visit there.

Stayed at Tenaya this weekend and it was amazing! Super relaxing, family friendly and clean. Rooms were clean. There was an ice skating ring, multiple restaurants, indoor/outdoor pool and they had movie nights at the indoor pool. Definitely will come back in the future.

My family and I loved Tenaya Lodge. It’s great for families with kids because you don’t have to leave. There’s enough going on there to have a good time without having to leave the resort. People were very nice and friendly there and it was a beautiful place. We went for Christmas and it was so festive everywhere. Just great vibes, and we will certainly be back!

This hotel is soooo beautiful at Christmas. The man doing the decorations has been doing it for a long time and he does an amazing job! This place is such a family oriented hotel and also can be a couples hotel. Its always clean and beautiful and the workers are always welcoming and nice. The gingerbread house and huge Christmas Tree are something everyone should see at least once a season!!!!

Our stay here was absolutely amazing. Very family friendly, loved that they had board games for you to play in the lobby. The staff was incredible, the activities that were included in our stay were also nice to do. We can't wait to come back in March!

Tenaya Cottages Near Yosemite – Superb Location Close to Yosemite National Park We visited Yosemite in August and stayed at Tenaya Cottages, and choosing the cottages turned out to be an excellent decision. The location is superb—very close to Yosemite National Park—and our stay was even better than we expected. Overall, the experience was great; however, breakfast was the weakest point. There were very limited options available—mainly a coffee machine and a few fruit choices. When we contacted the reception, we were surprised to learn that although breakfast was included with our stay, we were not allowed to use the hotel’s main lobby breakfast unless we paid extra. Apart from this inconvenience, our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. We would still recommend the cottages, especially for their location and overall quality. Lastly- If You are a food lover, then , it’s better to stay on the lower side of the hills, where you’ll find all kinds of facilities—from restaurants and supermarkets to gas stations.

Positive aspects • The hotel is spacious; you can spend time in the lobby, game room, pool, and ice rink. • Located in the middle of the forest, surrounded by trees. • Very nicely lit and decorated. • Due to Christmas, there were some activities: story reading, free hot chocolate, popcorn service, daily cartoons, nature walks, etc. — quite full and engaging. • Christmas stockings with gifts, etc. Negative aspects • Far from the city center. • The hot chocolate was watery and tasteless. • The Christmas story ended within 10 minutes — very short. • The movie event being shown at the pool was very strange; watching people swim while trying to watch a cartoon on the other side was unusual. • While watching a movie at the pool, you’re exposed to a strong chlorine smell. • There were poorly maintained, non-working machines in the game room. • All food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) was paid, and some activities were also paid.

Unfortunately, there were no snow activities, which was disappointing. We booked a room with two queen beds, a sleeper sofa, and a balcony. While the room was spacious and generally clean, there were several inconveniences. There was no microwave, which made it difficult for a large family bringing their own food and drinks. The mattresses were uncomfortable, and the bathroom sliding door offered very little privacy—you could hear everything, and there was a visible gap along the side. The balcony was small but usable; however, the wood railings were very wobbly and clearly need reinforcement for safety. Additionally, around 7 a.m., loud work trucks and constant beeping could be heard, which disrupted our sleep. On the positive side, the room was clean and well-stocked with plenty of towels, K-cups, soap, and lotion. Having two trash bins and a recycling bin was also convenient. We chose this resort hoping for a white Christmas, especially after checking the weather link provided by the hotel, which advised bringing snow chains due to snow. However, there was no snow at all during our stay—the roads were completely dry and clear. As a result, most snow-related activities were closed. We did enjoy the ice skating rink, hot chocolate, and s’mores, but many other activities required expensive additional fees (e.g., $100 for a gingerbread workshop, $35 for a basic snow globe workshop). We participated in the night nature hike, which was included with the stay. It lasted about 1.5 hours, and Tristan was an excellent guide. Unfortunately, our original stargazing hike was canceled due to “cloudy skies,” yet we were still charged for the blanket, book, and flashlight. Dining options were another major disappointment. Most restaurants were closed, and the pizzeria was poor quality and only open a few days a week. This left us choosing between the deli (the cheapest option) or paying very high prices at the Jack restaurant inside the hotel. There were very few affordable, quality food options, so we ended up driving to Oakhurst (20 minutes away) for meals. It’s also worth noting that the resort is still about 1.5 hours from Yosemite. Overall, this resort did not meet expectations. For a resort, there was very little to do, and many closures were not clearly communicated beforehand. We were disappointed and will look for a different place closer to Yosemite next time.

10/10! We had wonderful weekend celebrating our son’s birthday at Tenaya Lodge. The all included activities made so convenient so we didn’t have to go anywhere. The staff was so friendly! The lodge was so beautifully decorated for Christmas. And the dive-in Christmas movies was so fun. A relaxing touch to end the day.

My family had such an amazing experience here! The staff was great, from the point we checked in, even the cleaning staff I encountered was so friendly, all the way to check out. There were a lot of activities for the kids to do. They loved being able to make smores, drink hot cocoa, ice skate, and play games. We stayed in an explorer cabin which was great for our family size. They even had areas for the kids to make smores right by our cabin. There was a clubhouse near the cabins that was under construction but it didnt affect our stay. Inside the lodge they had a restaurant and a little cafe/deli which both were good. I really enjoyed the coffee from the cafe. This location is very close to the national park entrance as well. Overall we loved it and would stay here again.

This is a great place for both adults and kids. Lots to do in the area (check out Sugar Pine railroad), Goat snow play area (when there is snow), Bass lake, and the activities at the hotel. Oh yeah, and there’s the most beautiful place just a few miles away. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Starts with a Y ;-) Bring snow play things for the snow park down the road if you are so inclined. Timberloft pizza has really great pizza but it is only open certain days. Check this availability as part of your trip planning because it is cheaper than other options and really good. If you’re going to eat at the restaurant, recommend you make reservations for dinner to avoid the wait. Ice skating on the rink during the winter is offered, dive in movies in the indoor pool are super fun for the kids. Bring floaties or life jackets if you need them.

We have been coming to Tenaya for many years. We enjoyed the warmth of the lodge, the service you receive is excellent and it is the perfect location to Yosemite. It was lovely sitting in the lobby by the fire, enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Kids playing boards games. A lovely warm family friendly environment. So thats the positive. The negative, its lost its warmth. It doesn't feel inviting anymore. Its cold and just ok. They remodeled the lobby and has lost all its appeal. You walk in, there are long tables. People where sitting at the tables, on their laptops. I felt as if I walked into a Starbucks. The remodeling has taken all the charm and warmth away and because of that, I don't think I'm coming back. I have expressed my feelings to all workers I have come in contact with, and they feel the same and have said, they are hearing the same complaint, a lot. On top of that, the beautiful 35 foot Christmas tree that is placed in the middle of the lobby, is now replaced with an artificial tree. REALLY!! This is a mountain lodge, or should I say, it used to be. We stayed in one of the cottages this time, which was very nice. My one complaint with the cottage, they should really wipe down the bathroom doors or repaint/replace them. They were dirty and grungy looking.

The room layouts feel like an oversized 1 bedroom apartment, very comfortable, a lot of convenience features/amenities in the room, and spotless clean. The site is located perfectly in the mountains in proximity to activies near by. They offer on-site activities such as free bicycles, rock climbing, indoor/outdoor pool. What an outstanding experience at Tenaya! I cannot say enough about this place. We only wish we stayed longer! We will definitely be back. You DO NOT want to miss it!

Our family stayed here for the first time and we absolutely loved it! The staff are very friendly and very accommodating to our needs. I love how I can communicate to them via text messaging as they respond promptly. Our son had a wonderful and beautiful birthday celebration and they did an awesome job in the cake and fruit platter, it was so special that our son will remember this kind gesture. The 360 Yosemite Winter Tour was absolutely amazing. We had an excellent bellman, Mike, who has such a kind and accommodating personality with fun filled stories. Thank you Mike! For setting an excellent atmosphere to begin our stay in Yosemite. Jeremy was our tour guide and he has a lot of information to share and really fun filled stories to share about Yosemite. Over all it was an excellent stay! Thank you so much! For this marvelous stay, we will definitely come back.

We enjoyed our cottage it was spacious with a patio and a 2nd room . It was clean and the scenery was so beautiful. The restaurant in the lodge was not good at all and the deli could be so much better, it had very few options, don’t count on getting more than chips and a drink. The lodge itself felt very geared towards small children. The cottages had a hot tub but the jets didn’t work and the room it was in was very dirty. I would stay again at the cottage, but wouldn’t go to the lodge for any reason. It’s also an hour drive through the mountains to get to Yosemite valley, which we enjoyed but some may find it long and a bit hard if you don’t like heights

Don't expect this place to be a good as previous reviews (a lot of bots) make it out to be. Beds are average at best. Heating in room is very loud so bring ear plugs and even still you will struggle. Shower power is pitiful and also takes a few minutes to heat up so set your alarm early. Speaking of which, the alarm clock time was wrong in my room. The cleaning staff in my room didn't take away dirty cups which was a bit odd I thought. The food is average at the main restaurant. The sauna in the spa is a joke at 155 degrees Fahrenheit (<70c). Their payment system tried to charge me an extra 85 dollars with no reason why. Took me an extra ten minutes waiting around for that to be resolved at which point the staff members just said I was good to go with no apology. 👍 The positives were nice lounge area and open fires. Generally good facilities for a family and good location and parking space.

The Tenaya Lodge was a very comfortable and convenient place to stay for our quick visit to Yosemite. The Lodge is just minutes away from the southern entrance to Yosemite - less than 10 minutes to get to the majestic Mariposa Sequoia grove. The lodge has lots of extra amenities - several dining options; family adventures; access to a nice nature trail alongside the property; spa and pools, etc! So, no excuses for not finding something you can enjoy! I appreciated having a deli/general store for pick-up snacks and coffee. Every staff member was very friendly and accomodating. I would recommend as a place to stay while visiting Yosemite!

We LOVED our stay at Tenaya Lodge. It is very grand and beautiful and there are three outdoor swimming pools plus an indoor pool. And hot tubs outdoors and indoors too. At the pool area there are also cozy fire pits you can sit around and roast marshmallows for your complimentary S'mores. The food is also delicious at their on-site Jackalope's bar & restaurant. Great service and kind people. We loved the large, nicely appointed room, except for a problem getting cold water out of our room's plumbing and low water pressure in the shower/tub. But too many other things we enjoyed about it to let that change our mind. It's a great place to stay when you're visiting Yosemite and we'd love to stay there again.

I wanted to give the Tenaya Lodge 5 stars but had a few things that are holding me back. The lodge itself is beautiful and had a bunch of fireplaces & firepits to huddle around, which my wife loved. The Jackalope Bar and Grill was really good; we ate dinner there and breakfast the next morning. We reserved a spa room specifically for a Jacuzzi tub and a balcony looking out into the woods for my wife to sip coffee and look out. The Jacuzzi tub was broken and wouldn't drain. The balcony decking and railing was rather unstable. My wife wouldn't even step out on it. Lastly the shower had wads of female hair stuck to the shower walls from the previous guest. It really is a lovely place and the staff at the front desk and grill were great. We just weren't happy with our stay because of the tub & balcony that we couldn't use.

We enjoyed our time at Tenaya. It is about an hour from Yosemite Valley, but the drive in each day is beautiful. We stayed in the cabins and the rooms were nice. We used the golf cart shuttle and it wasn’t a big deal to request each time. The food options are expensive for what they are, but good in comparison to options outside of the resort. We did the breakfast buffet and I wouldn’t do it again if we come back. We did the smores bar every night and the kids loved it!! We also did the guided night hike and found that worth it - we had the best time! Overall a great experience and beautiful lodge.

a word of advice. call ahead before you check in. we were at the front desk waiting for someone to show up to help us at 8pm on a Wednesday. it took 15 mins for the staff to check us in, only to realize that they downgraded our room. we paid for an explorer cabin, One King, one Queen and 1 sofa. they gave us 2 queens and a sofa. they weren't even going to say anything to tell us that we downgraded. they were going to hope we were not going to notice! how utterly presumptious. we had booked directly through the hotel website months in advance. the staff kept saying they were sold out. how is that my fault? then we had to sit there for another half hour while they made excuses that our room was unavailable because they had gotten overbooked. eventually we were able to get the manager to "upgrade" us to a King, Queen and sofa explorer cabin that had a better view of some trees. it was so embarrassing for us to accept their mistake and expect to be thankful after they purposely downgraded our stay. however, they did rectify the mistake and gave us our original booking. thank you to the manager for helping us. the cabins themselves are spacious and there's lots of activities at the resort. there's a golf cart service to take you back and forth from the cabins to the lodge. be aware that there's construction going on down on Wawona, and right next to some of the cabins. would definitely stay here again but please call in advance! otherwise it is impeccably managed and they are ontop of things. the on site restuarant is really good as well. they accommodated our strict dietary restrictions. hats off to the staff there!

So happy with my decision to stay here!!! I absolutely loved my stay at Tenaya at Yosemite! The lodge is beautiful, cozy, and feels like the perfect mix of luxury and nature. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and I had such a relaxing time here. The property itself is gorgeous with so many thoughtful touches, great restaurants, fun amenities, and a peaceful vibe. The location is perfect, just minutes from Yosemite’s south entrance, which made getting into the park super easy. Every staff member I interacted with was warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. If you’re planning a trip to Yosemite, I can’t recommend Tenaya enough, it made my visit unforgettable!
