I can't say enough good things about Mill Valley Auto Service. We were in a real bind while on vacation—our starter decided to quit on us at the worst possible time. We called them up in a bit of a panic, and they were incredibly understanding and got us in right away.
What really blew us away was how fast they turned everything around. In just a few hours, they had diagnosed the issue, replaced the starter, and got us back on the road. The team was friendly, professional, and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of.
To top it all off, it's a family business run by Elijah and his dad, and you can really feel that personal touch and care in how they treat their customers. If you ever need auto service in the Mill Valley area, especially in a pinch, these are the folks to trust. They truly saved our vacation day!

I got a flat on my Subaru Crosstrek by my house, all the way up Mt Tam, and needed to have the car fixed the next day. My tires were completely worn out, so I needed to replace all four of them. When I called Mill Valley Auto Service, Elias was very helpful, gave me a good quote (I called several shops prior), ordered the tires for next morning, and even offered to come help me put on a spare so I could get down the mountain. I am proud to report that I was able to put the spare on myself, but I really appreciated the offer to help.
When I brought in the car the next day, we discovered that my brakes were also completely worn down and needed to be replaced. Elias showed me the wear and rust, and quoted me a good price for the parts and work. I compared prices with the Subaru Service Center, and am very happy with the total cost, as well as the professionalism and promptness of the work.

Really sucks to have to write this, the owner utterly lied his face off and tried to completely rip me off on back breaks. I brought my X3 in to get the battery calibrated, I also asked for a diagnostic. Elias said my back breaks were at around 2% and my front were maybe 50%. He said he was shocked I’m not getting sensor notifications. He quoted me $1200 for back breaks. I held off and haven’t driven the car much for fear of doing damage.
Today, I brought the car to another garage to replace the breaks before a road trip. They quoted me $660. Then they called me to tell me the back breaks are fine, at around 60% and the front breaks are even better. I was stunned.
Mill Valley Auto Service did great work. There was a hiccup in part delivery, and the owner Elias, kept me updated through the whole process regarding timing and any questions I had. I plan on returning to them for any future work.
Elias was great to work with. They were efficient and got me in and out in reasonable time and provided feedback for what kinds of maintenance I’ll face in the future and how much my investment will be. Professional and friendly. Highly recommend.
My check tire alert went off in the morning but I don't live near Mill Valley and I couldn't get it serviced until the afternoon. Elias the owner was very kind and said to bring it by when I was done which I did. Got to meet his adorable dog. His technician checked the tires. Turned out they were just low on air. And within 10 minutes I was on the road home. Couldn't have been happier!

I usually do not do this with small business but this was so out of pocket that if I can prevent this from happeneing to someone else, I will. We've done business a few times when his dad was there. Good, whole hearted man. Well last month, my husbands car stopped working out nowhere. The first place we thought of, was here since we've had a good experience up until now. Elias told us he'd do a diagnosis and would figure it out and then told us it was the transmission that was gone. Then it was he couldn't figure out the code it was giving off, but he had his people take it apart to try to figure out what was wrong with it. He then went behind our back and called the warranty and didnt even tell us. He was adamant about helping us figure out what was wrong with it. Cost us $800 to flush the transmission when the transmission was gone. Then said he'd "do us a favor" by letting us keep the car there for 2 weeks before towing it to the dealership for a new transmission. Finally, when it went in the headlight was working and we had to ask him to replace it. Now, the car has a major oil leak that it didnt have before. Beware. It's not the same shop his dad had and it cost us money when the whole time it was the transmission.
Elias was great- had an incredibly quick turn around time to get me a special tire and his dog Jax is a sweetheart. The pricing was super affordable as well. I’ll def go to them again.

My battery died out of nowhere and the roadside assistance tech, although able to jump it, let me know it might be time to check it and/or replace it. Elias let me know on the phone they could take care of both for me, and to simply bring it right in. He was patient with my questions and didn’t mind educating me on what was going on, what was needed, and what they could offer as far as a replacement battery and warranty. As a first time car owner, I felt well taken care of, and the whole experience was trust-inspiring. I would easily send a friend here.
Elias is a ROCK STAR!!! Came in on December 23rd at 3pm with an engine light that came on, and Elias was able to diagnose AND his mechanic was able to pick up the part that night and have it fixed by the next morning, ON Christmas Eve! We were visiting the area to see my elderly mother and could NOT be without a car last week!
