Id already heard great things about the food, so I wasn’t surprised but still pleased by our awesome oysters and smoked fish dish!! I want to give a special shoutout to our server Manuel who was super kind, accommodated our special requests, and overall added to our great experience

A rainy evening with fireplace and view of weather on Tomales Bay. Delicious food and excellent service. Prices quite reasonable. Worth the drive from the east bay. We also saw the sealions at Chimmy Rock on the other side of Tomales. A day's adventure.

Our car club drive ended at this location, and the restaurant is big enough to accommodate large and small parties. The view for the restaurant is amazing and relaxing. The restaurant has an intimate feel, with attentive staff and amazing food. The food is a bit on the pricey side. 6 oysters, clam chowder, salad with crab, smash burger, beer, and iced tea came out to ~$150 for lunch for 2 people.

My cousin and I stopped for a late lunch and enjoy the view after meandering along the coast. I had the fresh halibut and she had the Mac and cheese with crab. We shared an ice cream cone. The food was yummy and the staff were attentive. We enjoyed walking down the dock to see the views and watch people catching crabs.

Best clam chowder I've ever eaten! And the fish and chips were pretty good, too.

Peaceful and relaxing weekend with my wife and dog in the Nicolina cottage. The views, the food, and the staff were all amazing. I've already recommended it to multiple friends. We want to make this a yearly tradition!

Nick’s Cove is one of my favorite spots. From the accommodations to the food to the excellent service and staff, it is a hard to find a better experience. I love it! Everyone needs a Nick’s Cove fix!

We had the privilege of making the Fly Fisherman at Nicks Cove our home for a few days. Our dogs were happy as clams in front of the wood burning stove, and I indulged in a long soak in the antique tub. We were so dazzled and will definitely return to this beauty experience. ||And I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet…||Every need was anticipated and communicated before we needed it. The front desk person proactively texted us on our way in to alert of us if potential bad travel weather, and went out of her way to make every detail work for us throughout (including hot breakfast delivered and replenished firewood.) ||Oh… and you really must try the grilled Bourbon oysters at the near by Hogs Island Oyster Co… delish! ||Prepare to be dazzled.

Late December 2025 Mainly recognized as a local restaurant serving mainly popular seafood. Visitors then find out that they are running an accommodation business as well of renting a number of cottages both inland and at the seaside The food is freshly made and of ample quantities. The menu is a standard collection of Western seafood fare that is well prepared ? ? with some creative tweaks based on seasons and trends The service is attentive and prompt The interiors are historical and characteristically rustic. An adjunct platform can also be used for crabbing, fishing ? or picnics Evokes typical coastal vibes along the iconic Highway One

We absolutely loved our long weekend at Nick’s Cove. This was our first time up in Tomales Bay and it was so relaxing and peaceful. Our bungalow, Al’s, was the perfect size for the two of us. Such a cute and cozy place to stay. Being right on the water was a dream! The views are gorgeous and you can see the stars in the sky (we even got to catch a meteor shower). We enjoyed waking up and falling asleep to the water right outside our window. Be aware there is no cell reception but they have free WiFi to accommodate. The bed and pillows were so soft and comfortable. The bed is noisy getting in and out of it but once you’re in it doesn’t make noise. The bathroom is spacious and beautiful. The shower was fine. I wish I could have soaked in the tub but there was a rust line that was off putting and the knobs for the water for the tub part were painful to turn/use. The shower worked well. Free parking for one car per bungalow is amazing (considering the price you pay for the room there should be free parking). We ate at the restaurant twice. It’s okay. Some dishes were delicious- cioppino, cod dip, and bbq oysters were great. The fries were too fried for us and the raw oysters we tried were too briny in the aftertaste. We ate here a second time because we were hungry but exhausted from a long day. It’s convenient if you are staying on property but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. There are plenty of other options within 5, 10, 15 mins. Every single staff member we encountered was so nice and friendly. We really had such a peaceful weekend here. Sitting in the room with the fire on after a day of exploring the area was a cozy dream. It’s a good home base for exploring this area of the bay.

great food, I had best fish & chips anywhere, partner had halibut entree also very good, after a wonderful drive on a cold but sunny afternoon up Hwy 1, a treat in itself.

We spent a romantic Thanksgiving night in the Nicolina’s boat-style cabin. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion. We live in Marin and this was a long-dreamed about staycation that did not disappoint.

Excellent restaurant, the batter on the fish and chips was light and crisp, and the lemon zest on top made the dish! But my favorite part was the oysters. I will be back again!

We spent the weekend here with our two-month old baby and dog in Al’s Cabin. What a fantastic little resort in such a great location. Perfect place to relax and get away. I also loved that could order drinks at the bar and bring them back to my cabin to enjoy on the deck. The restaurant is nice and big and the food is excellent.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to stop here for the night, our first night of my 60th birthday bucket list trip to the redwoods. Angela was so kind and accommodating! We stayed at Jerry‘s cabin and it was phenomenal so beautiful and comfortable! The food from the restaurant, fantastic! The breakfast the next morningone of the best we’ve ever had. The eggs were cooked perfectly and everything was hot and delicious and delivered right to the room.

Nick's Cove located on Scenic Tsmaled Bay has gone upscale. Food is delicious though rather pricey. The service is excellent and we enjoyed our lunch there. The oysters on the half shell we're delicious

Had a great dinner there with the party of 10 including 2 kids. Small menu but everybody got something liked and the food was hot and delicious. BBQ oysters were the bomb. Great location for sunset

Did not stay at the hotel, this review is for the Restaurant. The food is good seafood fare. The service we experienced was excellent. Once we stepped onto the ocean deck, we are immediately greeted by our server, Cole. He was friendly, helpful and attentive throughout the meal. His service really highlighted the experience highly recommend.

We’re locals, and Nick’s Cove is truly a hidden gem — not overpriced, not a tourist trap. Especially with all of the very fresh (and some local) seafood! The view is absolutely stunning, especially on a cool Saturday evening around 6–8 PM. The vibe is casual, but the food and service are top-tier. The waterfront view is stellar, foggy with Zen energy and beautiful mountain-scapes and generally a cannot miss! Not a super popular place which makes this the perfect eatery gem! (You can have your peace and eat it too :) ) The Cioppino was probably the best I’ve ever had - deep, flavorful, comforting. It’s like a whole symphony of flavors, served like some art exhibit! Everything is included: crab legs, prawns, clams, mussels etc… It came with delicious sourdough bread from a local bakery and house-made tartar and aioli that were garlicky, rich, and unforgettable. Ask for extra - you’ll want to dip everything in them! We had seconds, thirds and fourths! Even demanded the recipe!! We also had: • Fish & Chips: Perfectly golden and never greasy or over fried. The cod was super fresh, flaky, and full of flavor. • Clam Chowder: Creamy, balanced, and comforting. Very fresh seafood! • Butterscotch Pudding: Homemade and heavenly. Silky, gourmet, and the perfect end to our meal. Easily the best dessert I’ve had of 2025 so far! Seafood dishes range from $20–$40, very reasonable for the quality. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, like it was caught that morning. Our server Callen was wonderful — warm, attentive, and made the experience even more special. He would come by the table constantly to ensure we were satisfied and brought a homemade vibe with him! He gave us recommendations and always brought a cheery smile. Thank you, Callen! We’ll try to be back and catch you there! We came here during a tough moment in our relationship, and somehow, this meal, this view, this place brought us back together. No matter what happens - we’ll never forget it. Truly a remarkable experience and we are blessed to have one-of-kind experience…

Next-Level Fries & a Truly Special Experience! If you're a fan of fries, Nick’s Cove might just serve the best fries you’ll ever taste — seriously. They’re perfectly seasoned, crispy, fresh, and cooked in clean oil (you can tell — it makes a difference!). The rest of the food was just as impressive, and the service was outstanding — warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The atmosphere is authentic and unique, with a beautiful view of Tomales Bay, just a short drive from Point Reyes. This place feels like it should be part of a perfect weekend getaway — imagine: stay at a cozy hotel, go on a cheese-tasting tour, and end the day with a delicious meal at Nick’s Cove. Sounds like a dream, right? Highly recommend for a special occasion or a relaxing coastal escape.

We had a fantastic time at Nick's Cove. My husband and I went up for our anniversary, and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. The rooms were well stocked and very comfortable. The scenery was stunning. The food at the restaurant was delicious! We wished we could have stayed longer.

Great service! The entire staff was engaging, knowledgeable and spot on! The food and menus choices were stellar and we have to tell you, the French fries are some of the best we have EVER had! Drink selection from the bar is outstanding! Can’t go wrong with the oysters, burgers and sweet corn on the cob! We can’t wait until the NEW shack is rebuilt at the end of the pier! Very dog friendly too!

An absolutely unforgettable dining experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the panoramic views — a perfect setting for a relaxed meal by the water. Whether you’re seated indoors or on the terrace, you’re treated to sweeping coastal scenery that elevates the entire atmosphere. The seafood was exceptional — incredibly fresh, flavourful, and clearly handled with care and expertise. We started with oysters that tasted like they had just been harvested, followed by grilled sea bass and a generous seafood platter that showcased a variety of local catches. Every dish was beautifully balanced, allowing the natural quality of the ingredients to shine. Service was equally impressive: attentive without being intrusive, and the staff were happy to offer thoughtful recommendations based on the day’s specials. Their knowledge of the menu and the local seafood made the experience feel even more curated and personal. What made the visit truly memorable was the combination of outstanding food, friendly service, and a setting that felt like a hidden gem. It’s the kind of place you want to linger — to enjoy a glass of wine while the sun sets over the water. Highly recommended for seafood lovers or anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful, scenic escape with exceptional cuisine. A real standout.

Had such an amazing time at this location, we stopped here on a whim and stayed at the Bandit Bungalow. This was the perfect experience for having a relaxing evening. The major highlights of this place is the design and feel, the comfort, the quality of it all, and the service. I recommend going out of your way to stay at this place if your doing a coastal drive or if your in the area. Such an incredible experience, the breakfast is incredible, best french press I've had at an accommodation. The service was impeccable as well, Angel and Kortney took amazing care of us!

I’ve read some other recent reviews and I’m surprised because our experience was completely different. My husband had the clam chowder which was creamy, but not overly so with nice crispy nuggets of bacon. I only had a couple of spoonfuls but I too thought that it was tasty, although a little on the salty side. I ordered the fish and chips and it was without a doubt the best I’ve ever had! The fish was super crispy on the outside and plump and moist on the inside with a dusting of crushed fennel seed which added a nice touch. The fries remained crispy right down to the last fry and they were perfectly seasoned. No need to add seasoning except to dip them into the yummy tartar sauce. The portions were very generous too and I shared with my husband and we both really enjoyed it down to the last bite. We will definitely be back. Maybe in spring or summer when we can enjoy the deck.

The barbecue oysters are fantastic! The clam chowder was a bit of a disappointment. I'd had it about 10 years ago, and it was the best I've ever had. It was briny, full of plump clams, and while it was creamy, it was not thick. What I was served was thick with no evidence of clams. It was like chowder served at Midwestern diners. The service was really attentive and helpful. I'll be back for the oysters, but I'll pass on the chowder next time.
