legit company. #1. had my car picked up in a small city in wisconsin. its took a while due to the holidays (just bad timing) and the tow truck driver was a a hole and never called me when my car was being picked up so i had to wait 2 more hours on the phone and call back to have everything verify. i thought it was a scam. at the end, it was worth it. i got top cash! 1250 for my 2001 toyota rav4 that was undrivable and a goner too. the phone people are always trying to give the best offer and top cash. other tow company offers and sweet talk you for low prices, like 100-200 dollars thinking your car is worthless and trash. its not. its valuable and if you're able to take out and sell the pieces or even fix the cars, you can sell it for so much! and yea, they got people for that. so its a lot of money to be made. don't be desperate too. make sure you get the best deals and negotiate. worth it at the end waiting a few days. yeah i was sweating a lot too cuz my car was at the shop and luckily the shop manager was cool about it and never complained even though my car was there for a while. thank God i got it done.

I live in Iowa. First time using this kind of service, so was apprehensive about the legitimacy of the transaction. Their first offer for my '07 Camry (transmission went out, otherwise good car) was lower than other companies. Once I shared their competitor's top bid, they surpassed it. From moment I accepted to receiving my money was less than 24 hours. Only reason for the 4 starts is starting with a lower bid and some minor towing scheduling issue.
Recently I sold our 68’ Cadillac. We had actually spoken to another company before finding Family Car Buyers and that other company left us in the dark for a week. When I called Family Car Buyers they were quick to give me a quote and then worked with me to get the price we wanted. Family Car Buyers were a pleasure to do business with. They were easy to reach by phone. They were always extremely courteous, patient, and helpful. They gave me a quote quickly during my first call and sent a text to confirm. I received a call to schedule the appointment to have my car towed within a couple of hours or so after we agreed on the price. The Family Car Buyers rep stayed on the phone when I was talking to the local rep. They provided the VIN # I had given them earlier, but didn't have while I was out. Everything went smoothly with the sale and pickup (towing) of my old car. They provided helpful info via e-mail and text. I had an excellent experience all around! From the initial phone call kinda bummed out about my car and worried about getting pennies. The quote process was made extremely easy, with just having to text over some pictures of my Lexus, to the extremely fast call back with my quote. (To my delight was almost dead on to as what I was thinking myself.) Also to my surprise my car was also picked up only a few hrs later with a check in hand! I received numerous phone calls from extremely friendly staff and run around, or hassle. The staff made a not so pleasant situation for me to have to let my baby go into a non stress and extremely friendly environment. From the initial quote, to the other employee I had to give a lil info too, down to the tow truck pick-up, was nothing short of an A++ all across the board! Even wanting to know how things went after my car was picked up. BLEW ALL COMPETITION AWAY! $800. Had a 2007 GMC Acadia SLT-2 SUV. Two days before T-Giving it just died trying to leave a parking lot. Thought out of gas; filled gas but still nothing. AAA hauled it to a AAA mechanic. Told need new Timing Chain. AGGH! Means needs a new engine. Can't afford, must sell. Mechanic says scrappers will give $150-250. Did a Google search and found Family Car Buyers. Ended up getting $800 for my car. They can pay more if the rest of the car is nice. Received offer and told if send in pictures I may get more. Did just that. Car had no scratches, no pings, no dents, leather mint interior, entertainment system fully functional, etc. When tow truck was running late I asked for $25 more to get a Uber/Lyft to the mechanic to meet driver. They did: $825. Paid on spot. Dena Tunstall there was great! Followed up all the way to when the driver came to after he left. Great customer service! Totally sucks when your car breaks down. I called and spoke with a representative, I don't recall her name. She asked me some questions about my car and said she would call me back in a few minutes. This must have slipped her mind because after about an hour I had to call back. I spoke to another representative that informed me an offer was made. No big deal and the only reason no 5 star.
I accepted the offer and Cristina walked me through all the process. She connected me to another service , Copart, which would be writing the check and scheduling the pick up. Fairly straight forward and easy.
Pick up was on time and professional. I had all the proper paperwork, driver gave me a check and they took the car. Pretty simple.

My experience with this company was very good. The people I talked to were professional, very nice and very helpful which made me feel at ease. There was only one negative that I had, they were a day late in picking up my car. However that was quickly rendered and takin Care of and my car was picked up on the next day with a check in my hands. The driver who picked up my car was very nice and patient with me as he answered all my questions. I still give them 5 stars as my overall experience overrides the one day late. I will have no problem referring them to people I know and if I ever needed to get rid of another car I would go back to them.

Offered a fair price, and the payment for my car arrived promptly in my Paypal account at pick-up. Staff was pleasant and easy to work with. The only problem was that although we agreed that the tow truck driver would arrive between 1:00-4:00, he called at 11:00 and wouldn't wait 30 min so I could travel to the location of my car. Family Car Buyers and the lot personnel apologized and were able to arrange another pickup in the original time window. I'd recommend this company!

I was very skeptical at first being this was done online and through email, but I received excellent customer service. She gave me step by step instructions on how to do what was needed. I received a very fair offer considering my truck wasn't running. The driver ca me out picked it up and wrote my check. Simple and easy. No hassel at all. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience with Family Car Buyers I found the company through a link on a junk car website after my car engine went completely dead. I was a bit skeptical at first because they offered a great price, higher than a local competitor. They took care of everything, including the tow and any fees.
