The So. Cal. Imports story began as a small family business back in December of 1988. Since that time we have had the good fortune to grow and expand to the So. Cal. I purchased some heater boxes for a 62 bus online. I got a call that they weren't in stock currently, and they offered to refund my money. I just decided to wait for them to come in, and the shipping timeline was spot on from what they told me, about a month. Everyone I dealt with was very nice and the product was perfect. When i would call, customer service knew exactly who I was and what order I was calling about. Thank you!
Ordered a rebuilt transmission and had to jump through several hoops to get it shipped. Transmission arrived damaged, but we couldn't tell until after it was installed (we did inspect it upon arrival and everything appeared okay). The damaged part appears to be internal, so I do question how.
Still awaiting a resolution, so I will update this rating and review based on the repair process and outcome.
Problem was not resolved and company will not refund my core charge. If you want to pay triple for bad transmission, this is the place to go.

Company said they will not refund my core charge because my transmission core wasn't the same as what they sent. Did they send me the wrong one?
Latest news. Transmission is failing and needs to be replaced after 500 miles.

The first thing I did was change my front rotor brakes to disc brakes.I spoke with Irving who advised me to change over and get the disc brake kit, along with a new master cylinder. He is very knowledgeable, helpful in person and helpful over the phone and has lots patient with me. These AC brakes are the best invest you can change on your VW. They have great stopping power.

Orderd a electronic ign. From them .....they sent it to florida....been 2 weeks....i called theguy on the ph acted like it was my fault my stuff was in fla...i finally got to talk to someone n they said theywould send out a replacement.....but sent n email saying they wont the next day......sad cust service i wont be spending any $$ there again
Very knowledgeable and helpful associates. Dont be fooled by the small store front. They have a wide selection of parts for your vintage VW. The majority of their business is online, so they have a warehouse of parts in the back.

Ordered brake drum kit for a customers 74 Super Beetle, they shorted me 3 bearings and one drum was damaged, gave my customer the runaround for weeks, they just sent UPS to pick up the damaged drum last week, UPS driver tells me the return is for the whole order, I said I already have the good drums painted and ready to go on so I just sent the damaged one back. Today they told my customer they will not replace the damaged drum or the missing parts. This woman who doesn't know me and I'm sure hasn't been in this business for 36 years like I have told my customer I probably broke the drum and lost the parts. I will never do business with them again nor will any of my customers. I deal with a lot of restoration parts companies, I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism. Avoid So Cal imports!
Ordered an exhaust for my VW Thing. After a week goes by i get an email asking me to call, and I do. First time the person I'm supposed to talk to is at lunch. Apparently they are the only one I can talk to. Second time I don't get him and leave a message. Not hearing back, I call a third time I find out he's left the company. No problem, transfer me to someone else. Woman who answers tells me that the exhaust is out of stock and my other options are much more expensive. When I suggest updating the website wouldn't have had me waiting two weeks to be told its not available, all I get is "Well we aren't perfect." I ask that my money be refunded and before I can finish, loudly she says "ILL GET THAT DONE RIGHT AWAY THEN" and hangs up on me. Deplorable customer service. Won't ever attempt to buy from them again.
Tried to bump my completed and paid for online order up nearly $200.00 saying that the product price online was 1.5 years old and had not been updated. This was after I personally called and went over the product availability, price and correct application. The staff member who called about the order became extremely rude and condescending after I expressed my dissatisfaction with this transaction. I then called the owner who refused to speak with me. Nice customer service...
Another company gouging the consumer in the wake of their own shortcomings...but I'm sure they have a good excuse. Not in my book.
I own a 1965 VW Beetle Sedan and I found out about So Cal Imports from Googling. I've made several purchases from them so far including small parts up to rebuilt starter and generator. Their prices are excellent and the parts arrived in a timely manner and packaged pretty well. They have an excellent selection from what I've seen so far. The quality of the parts seem to be what you would want.
Being able to find a company like So Cal Imports makes it enjoyable to be able to maintain the car. I will be using them again in the future as the need arises.
Excellent customer service. I have ordered from these folks at least 10 times. Recently I had an order that they could not fill because of out of stock items ( unfortunately normal in 2022). They called me, offered options, and I received my order two days later, on the east coast. These people will treat you right!

I bought a Christmas gift for my Husband and buy the time he opened it on Christmas day and installed it in the car it was after the 30 day of purchase. Well the electrical part had failed and did not work and nothing can be done after that time lapse. So My husband called Allen at SO CAL Imports and he was told , 24 hours had lapsed and electrical part has no return policy! He said he wanted me to be happy and would call back and work something out! No Call back as of 5/10/2020. I will not give this company my business and will warn other also. Not happy at all! I have spent several $$ on part from this company but will no longer recommend this company to anyone.
I recently had some questions regarding parts for a 356 Coupe Replica and both Andy and Daniel were a wealth of information. They were able to identify what parts I needed, educate me on some troubleshooting issues, even adjust my order for parts I no longer needed. Their customer service is second to none. I spoke with Andy at So Cal Imports about their AC Industries VW Bus Disc Brake Conversation Kit. I have a 1970 Bay with 2.5 drop spindles from Wagon West. I was concerned about the fit and the compatibility with the drop spindles. The kits fits real nice and exactly the right kit for the bus. Thank you Andy for all your help and guidance.
I bought the AC Industries disc brake conversion kit for my 64 double cab truck. No drama in calling in to check stock or picking it up. The kit fit good, no missing parts, Most important, the truck stops now.
I purchased the autostick conversion kit for a 1969 Beetle. Shipping was quick and all parts were included and fit perfectly. I had an issue with the rebuilt manual transmission and Andy provided great service over the phone to resolve the issue. When it came time to ship my cores back Candace was excellent to work with. Ordered my part and asked that they ship it quickly, as I was trying to get it by a certain date. Everyone I talked to was super helpful, fast and on point with their information. I received my order the next day and it was in perfect condition. I would definately recommend them to a friend and I will be ordering from them again for sure
This company claims to have parts, gets your money then emails you saying "we are back ordered"! What that means is they use your money to purchase what you ordered then mark it up really high and make you wait 45 days. If you want a refund, just call your bank now. It will never show up. Their staff is terrible and the owner is very rude with little experience. Both of my encounters with socal have failed. Beware. Rookies at best.
I recently made a purchase of some items for a VW dune buggy I had inherited. Upon receipt of items realized the dune buggy had been altered to the point that the items would not work without extensive rewiring. I contacted So Cal Imports via email and received a reply from Candace. She was very understanding, professional and very helpful. Even though the items were a little outside the parameters of the store return policy I was given a full refund.

I have ordered parts twice from So Cal imports and both time the service has been below par. My first order was lost and I had to buy the parts locally at a higher price it took them over a month to resend the parts. now I have $100 worth of parts sitting on a shelf. The second time I called in to ask which disc brake kit to order, I ordered it on line and it's the wrong kit but I can't take it back since it has been over 30 day so now I am stuck with another $275 worth of parts I can't use. I will never order from them again their customer service is worthless.
