My family has been recycling here for over 5 years, even when they were located near the Costco entrance. I can’t believe how much work they do every week and the service is always efficient.
Karla and Nate are amazing people! They helped my mom out when she goes alone.
Just finished dropping off my recycling here and I have to say the attendant Christian was very helpful and honest! He stated the previous owners weren't very honest and to spread the word the owners are different.
Clean spot and quick service! definitely recommend coming here.
Great place to recycle and a few bucks back from taking care of the planet. Only complaint would be that even though their business hours say that they close at 4:00 PM on Sundays, I got here at 3:52 PM and they didn't take me by saying that they were already closed. I stated that their business hours said the closing time was at 4:00 PM and they replied that they stop taking customers at 3:50.
I had a great experience at Sunset Recycling Center because the service was very fast and reliable. I had no problems with any of the workers and was serviced excellently.
Yo I feel like I get cheated. When I go here, this is the second time I had like 8-10 bags and they did of cans and bottles and I on get $12.00 in the crazy thing is, you can't see what the weight of your items and then she took my bottles. Put them in a trash can and gave me $13. There's no way. Definitely do not recommend to go here

From the moment I was looking for parking and parked, there was a man in a parked vehicle away from the recycling center, glaring at me. So, I was wondering if I had parked in the wrong spot (no, I didn’t). I parked the car, went towards the recycling center, no one was there, so I went towards the inside, heard someone working, and kindly said, “Excuse me. Can you tell me how to do this? It is my first time here.” to the woman who was inside. She spoke in Spanish, only, could not speak English, said that she could not speak English, and gestured to get the plastic bins and to fill it. I thought that I would figure it out on my own. I went to my trunk and started taking out the bags of recyclable plastic bottles, started to count, and fill the plastic bin. As I went to my car to get some more, the man who was sitting on his car, glaring at me, started to walk over, took the bottles, was missing count, and started throwing them in another plastic bin. I found out that he was a worker. He took my plastic bag filled with plastic bottles, and started missing count (he, purposely, missed count and counted wrong so he and that woman inside could pocket that money) and started throwing the plastic bottles in another bin. On his shoulder, he had his phone on speaker, and was talking to some woman. I came back, took the plastic bag back, like, “What are you doing?!” The whole time, his face was rotten angry and mean. Since I was counting how many bottles there actually were and were trying to figure out how much they cost (keeping track in Notes), he got angry and started cursing and saying bad things in Spanish about me to the woman he was on the phone with and the woman who was inside. I got very upset, looked at him straight in the eyes and said not to curse in Spanish at me, to not say bad things in Spanish about me, and he got very angry and hostile. The whole thing was recorded. He was so hostile, I felt threatened. I thought to call the police. I told him that if he keeps being hostile, I will call the police on him. I recorded his face. He took a plastic bottle and covered his face. That is when he started to cool down, started looking nice, and started counting the plastic bottles right. He even confirmed that number with me. Honestly, he was so disorderly, towards the end, I lost count and just hoped that he counted right. After the worker started counting right and needed to give me the right amount, the woman who was inside looked sad (like she lost money). He showed me the receipt, showed me the amount that I was supposed to get back, and he gave me that exact amount. LOOK: All I want is for you to count right and to give me what is due. THAT’S IT. I don’t need more. I just want the right amount.
The money was wet, felt dirty, and smelled like homeless people. I feel terrible to the bank for having to deposit this dirty money.
Do yourselves a favor and do not come here. Always count, for yourselves, and document the whole thing. This is ridiculous.
Great Service very helpful! We usually get 20$ but under the new management we got payed 50$. Will keep doing business with Sunset Recycling in Hawaiian Gardens.
Seems like this place is under new management. I am very pleased with the services. I was surprised with the amount I got. I never got more than $22 dlls. before. Seems like it was a standard rate for them. This time I got $60 for the same amount of cans and plastic. I couldn’t believe it. I highly recommend this place.
Recycling doesn’t really suck so bad anymore!! Sunset Recycling in HG, has a very friendly and helpful staff. Never any hassle, and they are willing to help out with sorting or answering any questions you just might have I am definitely going back and bringing my coupons!!!

If I could give a zero I would. Total rip off. I filled up my Suv to the rim i weighed my recyclables before I arrived. I always get over 50 bucks. And they were trying to give me 16 dollars for 44.5 pounds of plastic.. Sorry, but last time i checked 44 pounds @ $1.33, doesnt equal $16. stay away. Go elsewhere. Other places have taken a lb away or so. He took 32 lbs away. from Me. They hide the scale. Ridiculous.. waiting for Sheriff to arrive. . Update: waited over 2 hours for supervisor to show up. He never did. I know these places shave the amount, but $ 40 dollars worth c'mon. For better understanding. I took in 44.5 lbs in. A whole suv full. Back of suv, middle and front seat. I weighed it before I took it in. it's accurate. I always get over 50 dollars. Sunset Recyling owner. FYI. I know scales don't lie. People do. Your worker said it was 12 lbs. Where did the other 32lbs go. He even said one was heavy, because they were all gallon juice bottles etc. I separate them. I have video footage from my ring showing I loaded up my suv. Picture of your employee as well. I will be reporting this to the state. I also can't call you without a phone number. The one at site is a bad number. On top of that the employee kept insulting me..
Update... I went to a different recycling center the next day. This time I only had half of my middle seat with plastic recyclables. I weighed them again. This guy was honest and said it was 10.2 lbs. Exact weight I had b4 I took to recycling center. Go to the one on Pioneer and Del Amo. He won't rip you off.
I arrived there at 4:40 to drop off some bottles. Was having trouble getting bottles to the front. When I finally got then he miraculously pops out of his booth to tell me they close 15 minutes before they actually close. Even though there other employees out there who saw me with the bottles struggling. Do not come here with any recyclable bottles. You will not get any service from them.
I have been a customer at this location for years. It is truly disgusting to see someone cheat you out of what you worked so hard for! The person working yesterday was rude, dishonest, and was on the phone the entire time I was there! He did not give a receipt and hid the scales from view, come on! There is a reason why he parks his car ten feet from the door. You can't keep cheating people and expect them to just be okay with it!!!!
I’ve been coming to this location for 1 year and have never had a problem before. Two days ago I went to take my recyclables and I had very bad customer service. The guy didn’t let me see the weight of the material and payed me way to little for what I had brought. Apart from that he was rude to other customers. He even threw materials on the floor to customers. Even the police were called when I was there. I have never seen this in all my time that I have been going. I won’t be coming here again.
I took more than I would normally 4 green bags (lawn size) 2 green bags of plastic & 1/2 bag white (kitchen size) received $9.94
2 week a ago I took 2 green bags of cans and 1 full white bag of plastics and received $19.00bags of cans
The guy does not show the weight so either he is under weigh not writing proper weight or cashier is not calculating correctly, not good business
