I had a disappointing experience with Salvage Society Thrift Store and Donation Center. Despite their commendable mission to support individuals with developmental disabilities, my professional engagement with them was marred by poor communication and unmet financial commitments.
As a freelance designer, I was contracted to develop initial design concepts for their organization. We agreed upon a $625 retainer for the initial phase, with the understanding that additional work would be billed separately. However, after dedicating three months to tasks including logistics, budget planning, research, and design, I submitted an invoice on March 31st for the additional work performed. This invoice has yet to be addressed.
Throughout this period, I encountered significant challenges:
• Lack of Clear Communication: Project scopes and priorities shifted without adequate notice, making it difficult to deliver consistent results.
• Unfulfilled Financial Commitments: Despite verbal and written agreements, my invoices remain unpaid, causing personal financial strain.
• Disorganization: Attempts to present completed designs were interrupted, and feedback was seldom provided, hindering project completion.
While I support Salvage Society’s mission, my professional experience with them was unsatisfactory. I urge fellow freelancers and contractors to exercise caution and ensure clear, written agreements when considering collaborations with this organization.
Integrity matters—especially for organizations that rely on the goodwill and talent of others.
Decent prices love the third Wednesday of the month all half off great deal on top of great prices the employees great help the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars it's because they don't give a discount coupon like other thrift stores when u donate items I donate like 10 30 gallon bags worth a lot but didn't get a coupon since they don't give that there
Hands down my favorite thrift store!! Can always find something or lots of things to love for great prices, especially amazing to find shoes! 50% days are too good, amazing amazing place and staff, truly a gem!
Had a wonderful time here. Good music and a singing staff. If I wasn't retired, I'd apply for a job there. I really felt welcome, and staff was eager to assist me.
Good stuff I bought a little girls bike practically new for 7$ I love this store always nice things for less & every 2nd Sat & last Wed of month is 50% off everything I love the last Wednesday of the month 1/2 off of everything in the store sale. I got a mini fridge for 20$ & great other things
Finally a community thrift store ACTUALLY helping the community. Love the staff here and the opportunities given to those with employment challenges in a positive and nurturing way. I’ll only take my donations here and love to peak at the revolving inventory.
