What clients say about The Inn at Benton Hot Springs in Benton Park (CA)

This place is AMAZING! To set the stage, we came and stayed in the Inn while there were NO OTHER GUESTS in the middle of winter. Which means we had 3 hot springs tubs all to ourselves! So I cant speak for the cabins or the tub sites. What I can say was that staying at the Benton Hot Spring is exactly what we needed after 10+ hours of snowshoeing around Aspendell. I would recommend ANYONE who wants to get away from all the hubbub of Mammoth, Bishop, Aspendell to come out here for part of your vacation. Sitting in our hot spring tub at night watching the stars is really a thing of wonder. I also have to give a huge shout out to the proprietor Jody, and Stephanie who really went out of their way to make sure we had the best stay possible. We made the mistake of not bringing a steak knife and they were happy to supply us with one, even after hours! Jody, definitely went above and beyond what I would expect for customer service. We also really loved our room at the inn! The colors scheme was really amazing and it was extremely relaxing. Oh and the breakfasts were great! Clearly prepared with love and I appreciate that! We plan to come back and stay again!

Our hot tub was squeaky clean. Our campsite was large and private. Our friends' room was spacious, warm, and beautifully decorated. VERY quiet. Great place to "get away from it all." NO parties, no music, just peace and quiet.

100 % recomend but it is very remote. Give yourself extra time to get there. Don't come in the dark it's hard to find and the self checkout was challenging in the dark. We'll definitely be back though!

I want to go back RIGHT NOW. My boyfriend and I stayed here after coming down the mountain from Yosemite, heading back home to Utah. This is a wonderful oasis in the middle of nowhere. The whole property is so fun and such a delight! We stayed in the Miner's Cabin and loved every second. The bathhouse was fun and quirky, the cabin was comfortable and cozy. We took a soak in the smaller of the three public pool/tubs and that was so relaxing. It was a clear night and because there's no light pollution you could see the Milky Way and even shooting stars! Breakfast was delivered to the cabin and was just a perfect start to the day. We are recommending anyone we know to stay here if they are in the area. Absolutely wonderful experience.

So disappointing. Miners cabin was ok, private bathhouse was close, electricity in room, towels and robes provided. But wifi rarely worked in room, sometimes worked in bathhouse or porch. Staff not very interested in customer service, told me the bare minimum on arrival, didn't tell me about office, I feared I wouldn't get help with heat in room and would be cold all night. Fan in room needed for heat was very loud. But worst part was it wasn't a relaxing peaceful environment due to the guests. The cabin was by the parking lot where guests slammed car doors and talked loudly, motorcycles were running and very loud for a long time in the morning while riders were getting ready to leave when I was expected to eat breakfast at table outside by room. And I could hear car doors slamming while in the hot tubs.

It was a last minute reservation we got lucky to find. It was delightful beyond words! Breakfast served to your cabin was also 5 star and accommodating to my gluten free request. We will be making another trip there soon! Everyone was friendly, helpful and place was quiet, clean and rustic. Great stay!

I looked forward to a long soak in a hot spring tub and a hearty meal after a dream backpacking trip through the Yosemite and Sequoia-Kings Canyon high country. The long soak in a tub to myself was welcome and rejuvenating. The meal the next morning was the saddest bed-and-breakfast breakfast I have ever seen–as sad as a public elementary school lunch. I didn’t take a photo because I was famished and…coffee…so I just ate it. Imagine a McDonald’s breakfast wrap, a bite-size muffin and a three-inch wedge of watermelon. The petite bites could have made a haute cuisine plate imposition if the ingredients weren’t so pedestrian. I should have left it as an expression of my disdain. Don’t go for the food and if you go for a night’s rest, don’t stay n the “JV Suite” with its barely functioning air conditioner.

I would love to give a better rating than 3 stars. But I was really disappointed with some of the things I experienced during my visit. To be clear, this review is about the campsite hot tubs. And some issues are specific to site #9. The check-in is described as "contactless". There's a spot in the main parking lot where there's a double sided piece of paper with information for the tub campsites. But unfortunately some of the information is lacking details. And this ended up with me having to drive back to the main office a couple of times as I tried to resolve issues. In my opinion, they should add the details to the handout even if it means adding a second sheet of paper. So, my initial concern was that my "hot" tub was lukewarm at best when I got there. It was only around 85 degrees. The instruction sheet says to use the walkie talkie to let them know if the water is too cold or too hot. However, what's missing is the detail about where the walkie talkie is located. Once I found it, I tried raising someone on the other end but got no response. So, I had to go back through a closed gate and then try to find someone in the main building. The office door was open but nobody was there. When I found someone, the woman told me that I had to choose a particular channel on the walkie talkie for it to work. But, I'm left wondering if you have a communication device that's also supposed to be used in emergencies, why isn't the channel pre-set? The woman did offer to come to my site, but her solution was to simply open a hot water valve all the way and let the tub overflow until the water got hot enough. This was simple enough to do on my own. But it took over an hour to get the tub to near 100 degrees. While I was waiting for the water to heat up, I decided to text and check in with family at home. Well being in a remote spot, I wasn't too surprised that there was no cell signal. I searched for available Wi-Fi networks and saw four for the property, and one specific to the hot tub campsites. I re-read the check-in handout looking for information about the password. No mention at all about Wi-Fi was in the handout. So, back to the office a second time to search for someone. I found the same woman and she gave me the password. Again, I feel they should take the time to include this detail on the handout. Needless to say, even before I got settled into my site I was feeling discouraged. Especially at the price of $105 a night. All this being said, the property location really is great! There are beautiful views all around. And sitting in the tub at night and looking up at the starlit sky was magnificent. One last note that's pretty specific to site #9 is that it lacks privacy screening in what I'd consider a crucial spot. Because everyone walking or driving along the main road through the campground has a clear view of this tub. I'm glad I got a chance to experience the hot tub springs here. The water had no sulphur smell and again the views were great. But it's the lack of attention to the details listed above that has definitely soured me on ever coming back.

What an amazing experience. It was all better than expected. The solitude of the place - an oasis; the caring attention of the staff; the hot spring fed hot tubs; the breakfast in the morning. If you are looking for an experience off the beaten path this is highly recommended. Comes with a self guided ghost town story (small donation to the non profit). Great history lesson

Miners Cabin – Benton Hot Springs Inn I’m leaving a two-star review due to a lack of cleanliness and inflexible customer service. When I arrived, there were no staff present. I attempted to use the walkie-talkies (they weren’t working), knocked on the locked office door several times, and couldn’t call due to no cell service or functioning Wi-Fi. The Miners Cabin was very hot (around 85°F), had no AC, and was dusty with visible cobwebs in the room and bathroom. I eventually left and called five times once I had reception—no one answered. When I finally reached the owner, he questioned whether I had made any effort to contact staff and was unwilling to offer a refund or credit. I’ve stayed here before and enjoyed the hot springs and peaceful setting, but this experience was disappointing. I wouldn’t book the Miners Cabin again and recommend the inn improve communication and guest support.

We stayed in the camping area with our RV. Visited 3 times so far. Having a private hot spring outside your door is the BEST! We’ll be back again and again. Benton is our favorite hot spring, we’ve been to dozens of hot springs. This one takes the cake. Clean bathrooms, wonderful hot spring pools, hot water. So good! Beautiful views, amazing stars and quiet! It’s really hot in the summer, be advised, your pool will need several hours to cool in the summer. In the winter it’s absolutely delightful! Can’t wait to spend more time here!

This small Inn is amazing. Very relaxing. The hot tubs are really hot. It snowed the first night we were there, which was awesome because we were in the hot water. The bed was super comfy. The water is very therapeutic. The free Wi-Fi was fast. We met some other guests that were super people. We just loved it and will be back again.

We stayed in the back camping under the stars. Our site was private, had a nice view, and our private tub was clean and just freshly filled for us. The water was silky clean and provided Zen-like replenishment, during the morning, afternoon and by the light of the night campfire. I slept like a teenager! They had brand new communal bathroom facilities, (a trailer) for all of us campers to use. Super clean and well supplied. That added such value to our stay here. It was a memorable trip that I won't soon forget. Reservations are needed well in advance. Come prepared , as there's only a small general store and one cafe nearby. I highly recommend you experience this place!

Super clean, super HOT tubs. It was a very cold night and felt so fantastic. Even the bathrooms were 5 star. The sky was so cool with great views of the Milky Way while you soaked. We camped. Will be back to try out the inn. Highly recommend. It is out in the middle of nowhere. Bring what ya need. Wish I had packed a robe.

We come to Benton every year and have done the camping thing with our own Hot Springs and stayed in almost all the houses. Check in is that a board when you come up and it has your paperwork with information about your reservation. Your are bill and the day before you arrive so make sure your credit card is active. Once there you grab your paperwork and go to your assigned camping or rental. We stayed in the house this time, see the pictures, it had an indoor tub as well as an outside pool that we regulate the temperature. All very private and you can’t see anyone around you, which makes nice for having coffee in the hot tub in the morning. The campsites all have their own Hot Springs as well and our very private although you don’t wanna walk around in the buff too much but hanging in your tub is fine. There’s a walking tour for the historical area and you could go and read about what a rough town it was and how the Hot Springs developed overtime with different owners although this has been in the family for many years. Up behind the camping area is the old cemetery. Here you can read about the people who lived here and as well as the story behind the naming of Convict Lake. See one of the pictures for the story. As mentioned, this is my favorite pay-for Hot Springs to go to and we make it an annual event. Iwould highly recommend this if you’re thermal tourist.

I loved it. On the cold remote road a room with heated floors and very authentic. Yet new windows to match and every detail nice. I went in the tub with my bathing suit with a flashlight and watched the midway, shooting stars and every detail in the sky floating. Set in a old Town walking back in time as yet upscale. Wonderful.

The Inn at Benton Hot Springs is probably my all-time favorite resort to visit. It's beautiful, quaint, super quiet, and as laid-back and refreshing as any place you could visit gets. The staff is available and helpful, but you aren't likely to need much of anything. Benton is a rural area, and one comes here to relax and decompress. Do not come here expecting exciting entertainment or noisy activities, and do not come here planning to add any noise of your own! Music and noise that is audible to other guests is not allowed, and for good reason. Benton Hot Springs and the Inn are about as restful and peaceful as you can get.

The Inn at Benton Springs has friendly and helpful staff. The actual location is definitely a gem. Everything here is chic and amazing! I love this location because of where it is and the beautiful scenery both getting here, and once you get here, you will be amazed at how beautiful it is. The springs are amazing geothermal jacuzzis that are phenomenal. Diane and Bill love this location and it shows.

We had a great time at the inn. Our room was clean and comfortable. The tv and WiFi worked great but that’s not why we were here (but I mention it because I know it’s important for some). We came here for the hot tub experience and we loved it. The three tubs for inn guests are clean with great views of the white mountains and are kept at a perfect temp. The courtyard and rooms have lots of rustic charm with a boho flair. The staff were so very nice. Breakfast was good (i didn’t really care for the coffee though). The one thing that I feel isn’t emphasized enough on their website is that there are no dinner options in the areas (the closest cafe is 22 miles away in Chalfant). The website does mention that a propane grill is available for inn guests, hence you need to bring your own food to cook. Otherwise there is no microwave, hot plate, etc -none in the room nor in the common area. Luckily we traveled with an ice chest and some dry goods so we were able to make a sandwich. Overall this was a great experience with history, charm, and comfort. I will gladly recommend to friends.

Spent two nights with my grandsons Very kind folks. Room was comfortable, our room had a bidet! Hot tub we used was the “semiprivate”’ Meaning everyone at the place had access. This wasn’t a problem for us. Beautiful location, amazing sky views Breakfasts were good Affordable

This Place is Ermosho and is in a stunning environment. The tranquility that surrounds the remoteness of the property and the darkness that surrounds it at night make it a true paradise away from civilization. Incredible Campground. The toilets have tushys! Bidets. That alone, besides the very thorough and well done after-hours check-in, makes this place 5 stars. Everything is better than you'd expect. Tub water was amazing. Coming back.

We have wanted to stay here for a long time. Reserved our spot 9 months in advance and planned our entire trip around it. I woke up the morning of our reservation so excited. It was like Christmas, I was that excited to stay there. If only we had known about the draconian policies. Our credit card number had changed and the card was declined. They sent an email which we didn’t get (this is a remote location, we are in a van, and the email didn’t come through.) We were so disappointed. We were left with no back up plan, nowhere to stay, and have I mentioned this is a remote location. There aren’t a lot of options. Worst of all was the attitude. They clearly didn’t care AT ALL. We would have paid in advance. We would have straightened it out, if they had given us a chance. I’m so very disappointed. If you make a reservation here, be sure to call and make sure they haven’t given your spot away. Anyone who is this cynical should probably just get out of the hospitality business altogether.

We recently stayed at the Hobbit House the end of January during the cold months. All was great, but there is no source of heating in the Hobbit house. Bring your own electric heater. Guess we hit the hot tub about 7 times to warm up. Please put in a gas wall furnace.

I didn’t know what to expect when I came here with friends to one of their fundraising events. Honestly, though we were youngest people there, we all had a great time. The people running the springs are passionate about this little town and their fire makes them interesting to hear from. The tub sites were fun to camp at and the locals were all a hoot!

What can I say? How about we are already booked again for next August! We loved Benton Hot Springs. We were in the Miner’s Cabin, 8/17 for 2 nights, so charming, and Sylvester the resident cat slept with us one of the nights! There are 3 tubs on site, and they serve you a lovely breakfast each morning. But be aware there are not many food choices nearby for other meals which we already knew. We had come from camping in Yosemite and had food and a camp stove and grill with us. A huge shoutout to the manager Chris, so friendly, engaging and helpful!|Laura Napoli|Pacific Grove, CA

A rustic charm staying at the Inn. |There was a choice of 3 different hot tubs to relax in and we always went for the large metal one facing the, almost desert landscape. |The water is from the nearby ancient thermal spring which was very sacred to the Indians. 120 degrees Fahrenheit takes a few seconds to adjust to but once in, is a tonic to your skin. The bedroom was old fashioned elegance and clean. Breakfast was brought to us each morning. A real treat!|Each of the rooms were

You never know quite what to expect when traveling in “out of the way” destinations with unique features. Benton Hot Springs was a resounding affirmation that it can pay off to head off on an unknown adventure. The setting was spectacular with snow on the surrounding hillsides. 20 degree nights in the private natural hot spring tub at our camping site ( campervan with good heat and down comforters) with amazing night sky and glorious sunrise glowing mountains. There was a sweet B&B attached with cute rooms and tubs as well. It was a clean, well cared for and managed rustic resort. Sean who checked us in gave good advice on local roads and even checked road conditions for our outbound travel itinerary. Plus wifi at campsites/tub sites and a very clean heated toilet facility with hot water! Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

This is the best campground I have ever been. The quality of the springs is excellent. The water in bath tub is drained and cleaned every time the guests change, so it is very clean. Each camp site is far enough away and there are partitions so that you can have some privacy. The view is also very open. Anyway, the hot spring is so nice that you can soak in it for hours. The water temperature is adjustable. In the summer, there are horseflies, so you need insect repellent. There is a cape right above the hot spring in summer, but it will be removed in winter. The toilets are very tidy.
