I tried to reattach a bent sway bar bracket in the parking lot and failed. They loaned me all the tools i needed but when i still couldnt get it, Freddy offered to take a look at his shop when he got off work. I waited for them to close and he had it bolted back down tightly within an hour. When asked what I owed, he responded with “give me whatever.” Real hero of Lone Pine auto repair.
Had to pop in here today on the back end of a trip to Horseshoe Meadows because my engine coolant light came on. The gentleman who helped me was absolutely wonderful, I believe his name was Dave, but I could be wrong, help me pick out the right coolant and figure out where to put said coolant. Absolutely wonderful guy. So much thanks to the team at Napa Lone Pine.
I just got into Lone Pine, and my radiator was leaking. There is only two gas stations in the town, and none of them had water for the customers. So I looked across the street and there was an NAPA auto parts store. Running out of time, and the store is closing soon. The man behind the counter asked me what I needed, and I wasn't sure if it was the radiator or the thermostat. He said, we are getting ready to close, so I bought a thermostat. He also said, why don't you pull your truck over here so I can look at it. Well, it turned out that I needed more than a thermostat. The man behind the counter name was Freddy, and he said my friend, you are here for the night. So I parked my truck at his house, and got me a room for the night. The next morning he put in a new radiator, and a clutch fan. Freddy is truly last of the good guys, and a life saver too. Thank you my friend for being there. Whoo-hoo!
Best auto parts store in town! Dave can get anything for you and really help you out of a jam. A good dude and he knows his stuff when it comes to cars and trucks. He is great to just shoot the breeze with as well.
This place is amazing. They went above and beyond, looked at my car and helped me find a local mechanic who solved my problem and got me back on the road in a Jiffy. Unliked the folks that told me to get lost at Lone Pine Auto/Millers
Bought some snow chains here at there prices $120 more than the retail price. Ended up not opening them. Took them to return and they're was a tiny spot on the bottom of the receipt that said no returns. Was never mentioned during the sale. Dishonest and would not recommend.
Dave was the best! We stopped to pick up some snow chains for Mammoth and Dave made it so easy! He also introduced us to Caltrans QuickMaps which will be so helpful! Thank you!
I just want to give recognition to one of the employees there by the name of Freddy. Although I did not end up purchasing anything. He was helpful and willing to go the extra mile for me. After I was stranded with a broken down rental with my family, he offered his personal vehicle to me, so that I may drive up to the next town to get the oil. I didn't end up using his car but the fact that he offered a complete stranger a his personal vehicle, I was pleasantly surprised that he did that. Thanks Freddy, keep up the great work!
On our way up Hwy 395 we spent some time in Alabama Hills and on the way out our truck overheated! The nearest auto place was Napa, and we got there thankfully by stopping multiple times and letting it cool down.. inching a little more and cooling down. I read on other reviews that they had a very knowledge guy named Freddy, so looked for him as soon as we got there.
God bless this man! Not only was he knowledgeable, he was very helpful and honest, showed us the parts we needed and got us back on the road in no time 🥹❤️ The last thing anyone wants is to breakdown down in the middle of a road trip, but thankfully Freddy was there to help us out! Highly recommend!! Thank you Freddy and Napa :)
Freddy for Mayor of Lone Pine. The best customer service! Lost a bolt on a brake caliper 😱 and he not only had the part that no other store from Ridgecrest up had, but he went out of his way to make sure our family was safe on the road by coming out and ensuring that the new wasn't going to come off. Thank you Freddy and thank you NAPA.
Freddie is the literal best! When our malfunctioning keyfob locked us out of our car- He was the finest line of offense, got us back in in no time!! Absolute hero, thankyou so much!!
Highly recommend Dave's. I was having starter problems on my way through (driving between Mexico and Canada) and came in here 15 minutes before closing on Memorial day weekend. Not only did the friendly young man at the counter do his utmost to help, he even called Dave himself to make sure I was getting the right part. He's a solid, honest guy with true knowledge and passion for mechanics. Glad I stopped in!
Freddy is the man. Super knowledgeable and helped us get back on the road. Our radiator popped on our Subaru and he had the part ordered and got it by the next morning. We were back on the road by 11am thanks to him.

But the bolts on the water pump were not tightened
Ironically we broke down again 10 miles away from your shop, too uncanny to call coincidence.
Also, too easy to avoid, literally tightening the bolts would have been one of the finishing steps.
For $700, you'd think you'd care about the lives of those who were in the truck when it broke down.
When I approached you in NAPA Auto Parts and you said you work on diesel engines, I vouched for you in front of my fam.
I am utterly astonished that for $650, tightening the bolts wasn't included in the repair job.
I would have gladly tightened the bolts myself, had you clued me into this incredibly shady corner cutting decision.
The only reason we paid you to do it is because you seemed trustworthy.
All in all Freddy seemed like a good mechanic, but I'd recommend watching him work on things because this simple issue of not tightening the bolts on the water pump, put my friends, family, and me in danger.
He came across as a solid guy, but from my experience solid men don't make such mindless mistakes.
Do better and I'll update the review.

Like many of the other reviews here, I ran into some mechanical problems in Death Valley and the staff at Napa in Lone Pine went about and beyond to assist. The service here is outstanding and I can't recommend this place enough.
The staff at Napa were amazing, in helping me trouble shoot various options to fix my leaf spring and loaned me both shop tools and even their own personal tools to help me make the fix. After about two hours in the parking lot working on my truck with their advice and tools, I was able to make the fix and hit the road again. If it wasn't for the staff at Napa, I am not sure what I would have done.
In my 2+ hours at Napa, I also saw them interact with many other customers and I can say that my experience is not an outlier. I saw them help out another off roader who needed to replace a brake line, as well as helping out locals with their auto part needs. They provided amazing customer service to everyone and helped them all figure out what they needed.
Thanks to the team at Napa and again, I can't recommend them enough.
This NAPA was the best NAPA I've ever done business with. The employee who helped us went far beyond "good service.". He was patient, trusting, and gracious. I will stop there just to spend my money if I have to.
Super nice people. Friendly and knowledgeable. I had a check engine light come on. I stopped in and asked to use their diagnostic equipment. Without hesitation they let me diagnosed my problem, and get on my way. Highly recommend Dave's auto parts.
These guys are always far more patient with me than I would be under similar circumstances. They ask me the right questions so they can figure out what I need, or, even more importantly, don't need. I wish they weren't 300 miles from home.
Truck broke down when the 7.3L powerstroke water pump failed climbing Towne Pass, leaving me stranded in Panamint Springs. Great folks of Panamint provided a lift into Lone Pine.
Dave had a new pump, coolant, and 2 special tools needed (pulley holder, 47mm wrench) all in-stock so i could replace the pump back at the campground. Super helpful, thanks!
Dave s a great parts owner and a nappa 1 store I had problem with my gen 2 minutes later it was running 2 people very happy P.s later gave Dave a bottle of cider and a hand shake thank you sighed case
Dave and his crew very helpful on a recent trip thru Lone Pine Ca. Our alternator went out and lucky us they had the replacement in stock . And since I'd gone off without my normal tool bag they lent me all the tools needed to replace myself since it was a very easy job. Thanks again Dave and crew. The battery is aok no problem.

My car lost all of it's coolant at a gas station in lone pine, I walked in with little idea of what should be fixed and the guy at the counter was able to direct me to where needed to be done. I left in my now non-leaking car the next day
Dave Mull is the best. We were from out of town with a blown out wheel bearing that had caught fire. The entire community of Independence, California were so caring, but Dave offered his shop, tools and hospitality. The last thing anybody wants is to be broken down in unfamiliar surroundings but if you have to break down on highway 395 make sure you are near Lone Pine or Independence, California.
