We returned the next morning and they were really helpful and honest with assisting us with figuring out what repairs our vehicle needed. I arrive at the Kings Canyon Pepboys, only to be told that i did not have appointment with them. I accidentally scheduled to a different Pepboys. I was informed that they would not be able to accept me because I did not have an appointment with them...I scheduled an online appointment with the Clovis Pepboys but the earliest appointment was still two hours away. I drove there two hours brfore my scheduled appointment and they got me in and out of there within 30 minutes...awesome work Clovis Pepboys.
Had truck towed in, fuel pump i guess went bad. Towed in on a Thursday night, noone was able to look it over until Sunday when I was then quoted $1700+... calling around, looking up pep boys price match guarantee, i received quotes from other shops indicating between 1k-1.2k for the same work from 5 other shops. When I called in Monday to inquire about the price and to see what was making it so much higher, I was met with an overly hostile and aggressive tone, told they "wont" price match, among other things. When I found they had only quoted based on manufacturer parts (high price), I asked to hear a quote regarding aftermarket parts, given the age of the vehicle (23 years old). This basically set him off, and was when he got so hostile (gonna lose your slice on the work?) And at one point he even set the phone down to complain to his coworker about me, and talkin himself up, saying things like "the dudes stupid, hes just gonna be right back in here, i told him it aint gonna last and hed be better off with the manufacturer part."
Sir, I heard all of that. As an MBA candidate, I am well aware of the cost benefit analysis I do when I am considering my options, and I am fully aware that even "manufacturer" resell parts are 6 sigma process rejects sold secondhand. So, instead of coming at me with hostility, you do your job, and give me simply the service estimate i requested that allows me to drill down and make an informed decision on if I will be towing away, or staying.
This comes after a significant period of avoiding this specific shop because of the exact same shady stuff they did to my civic years ago, where they intentionally destroyed my radiator by doing work out of scope of the service agreement.
Both issues resolved with a significant amount of extra headache, stress, and undue hassle, and now because of this, not only will I now avoid that specific pep boys, but because its been so long and the same stuff is happening still, it tells me a lot about the oversight from the company as a whole, and I will no longer service, nor recommend services, to any pep boys because of these systemic and pervasive issues.
I wanted to not leave a review, but your automated follow up system wont leave me alone until I do, so here you go. -100/10 stars, avoid at all costs, even if you break down in their parking lot. It's just not worth the hassle if you know anything about anything with vehicles, and if you don't then you will absolutely be taken advantage of. Hope this helps someone.
Called to schedule a 10 am appointment for a battery change. Only took 20 minutes to get it done for $280 total. More affordable than the dealership Thank you Pep Boys
The Clovis location was great, had called the Kings Canyon store and the gave me a $300 higher price, so I didn't go to the store 2 miles away and instead drove 10 miles and was treated honestly.

oct 17, 2025 i took my car in because my car had just recently hit 200k and i wanted to get the recommended services toyota says for hitting these miles. I also wanted them to check my coolant because i kept hearing a strange water noise coming from my car, but prior to this interaction my car was driving fine with no check engine light whatsoever.
after 4 hours they state to me they found the problem and replaced my coolant along with other things relating and did my tune up and fuel cleaning. my car drove off fine
the next day i start my car in the morning and instantly my check engine, horrible idling and my rpm is moving on its own. i call them and the "diagnostic" guy wont be in till the next day, so i wait and bring in my car on sunday oct 19,2025.
on sunday it took them 3 hours and 3 different guys (one of which would not put his vape down?) to figure out what they messed up. my car drove off fine and everything was fine, just a simple mistake.
now monday, oct 20, 2025 my check engine light comes on and i hear a strange noise along with my car is now smoking. i call them once again and they tell me they cant do anything about something they messed up till sunday......
do not come to this location if you care even a little bit about your car! my car was driving fine until they spent over 7 hours completely messing it up!
I made an appointment...came in and checked in. They took my car right away while I waited. Car was done in about an hour and I am always very please with the customer service and excellent explanation every time. The staff is always friendly and courteous! Great job!
I was here for tire rotation for 2 of my cars and was smooth and shout out for Ryan who helped me out. I would definitely return here and recommend this to others.
That was by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I don't know what's going on with one of the staffs, Ryan, but he was extremely rude. He was clearly irritated while talking to me right of the bat. I do not recommend going to this place. Very unprofessional.
Brought my aunt's BMW X1 for A/C diagnostic since it was blowing hot air. Tech got the job done sooner than expected and system was blowing cold air again. Staff was friendly and great at explaining issues post visit.
Only good experience here was Ryan, the customer service agent that assisted us and showed concern for the lack of care the team took.
I tried to avoid leaving a review here, I reached out to corporate. They took my name and number and had the problem call me back. If I was able to resolve the issue at the storefront I would not have contacted corporate. PepBoys is a joke. Specially David the so called manager. We went in for front brakes, which should have been a fairly simple job, we took our truck in at 9AM on Saturday and didn't get a call that it was ready until after 5PM on Saturday. We went to pick up our truck and the brakes were not functioning, apparently they had messed something up on the rear brakes. We did not ask for rear brakes, anyways an entire day later and my husband could have been killed I get a phone call that I would need to pay an additional $400 for something they broke! When I asked David what would have happened if my husband had made it out onto the street before realizing he had no brakes, David's response was "I don't know". Really? You don't know? They will try to kill you and not care. Avoid at all costs they are not safe.
I have to say that the team at PepBoys on Shaw ave in Clovis Takes customer satisfaction seriously. We had a piece of hardware in our tire (cab over camper truck) that looked ominous with respect to leaking if removed. We were on our way back to Gilroy and literally within minutes the team at Pep Boys evaluated the situation and secured a new tire if needed. Luckily the (bolt) when removed miraculously didn’t cause a leak! Gotta say, we were treated like long time customers. Kudos to the Pep Boys team they understand the meaning of customer satisfaction. We needed a tire replaced right away. We called local places and no one could replace tire until several days later. As soon as we called Pep Boys, they accommodated us. We showed up and it took hardly any time at all for them to install a new tire. I will continue to be loyal to Pep Boys, who has prompt, courteous service.
I made an appointment and Got seen on time. Upon their further review, they diagnose my truck and said everything was fine. They were very honest and they tried their best to fix an issue that went away. I appreciate their service I recommend coming back.
I came to this exact location two years ago and was very disappointed. So after that I only went to the location off of Shaw and 99. I told myself to give this place a second chance since it’s way closer to home for me. Idk what changed but the service was way better and honestly what it should be! I was thoroughly pleased and left feeling like they were very efficient compared to last time. I will be back again!
Unfortunately, I am not one to leave very many reviews, but in this case I just felt I had to! I was so disappointed in whole with my service/Experience at this location. I had an appointment at 9 o’clock for an oil change. Something that Should only take no longer than an hour, took four hours! Receiving my car at 1 PM. Once receiving my car, I noticed my keychain side panels seat, steering wheel, and so many other areas had to oil all over it. (See attached photos) Now I am going to have to pay to get it detailed to get this oil removed. Very upsetting.
Service was awful. The worker who “assisted” me was taking their sweet time as if they didn’t see me standing there for 10 minutes. He also answered the phone and assisted the caller before he got to me. Once he assisted me, he was completely rude and seemed like he was inconvenienced by me checking in for my appointment. Took like 40 minutes for a tire repair check. My tire wasn’t repairable and the worker was trying to charge me for a new tire before even getting me prices on tires. I had to ask him and again, he came off inconvenienced. After he quoted me over $100, I declined and he got upset and walked away to get my paperwork. He handed me my paperwork and didn’t even let me know how much longer my car would be. He just walked away. I noticed my car was parked on the other side of the parking lot after being inspected and I still waited an additional like 10 minutes before a different worker came in the waiting area to give me my keys. Idk if they get commission for selling new tires or what but I went to a different shop right after and got my tire repaired and fixed/patched in less than 10 minutes. I feel like the worker tried to play me because my tire was an easy fix and he just wanted to charge me a large amount. I won’t go back there for a service again. Horrible customer service. The other worker who gave me my keys was very polite though.
I called Pep Boys to see if they resurface brake rotors that is off the vehicle already. Ryan was able to help me out. Nice gentleman and very helpful. When I arrived there, he was able to get me set up. Another gentleman, Greg, took my rotors and got started on it before I got my paperwork filled out. I left and came back 45 min later and my rotors were finished and ready. Everything went smoothly, everyone was helpful, job was done efficiently. Great work. I'll definitely go there again.
Overall, it was a very good experience. They did a great job. My only disappointment was how long the service took. I was there over 2 1/2 hours for a 4 tire installation. That said, they were very professional and their techs did outstanding work. I'll definitely go back for my future needs.
Avoid this place like the plague!!! I had the worst experiences 3 days in a row, it was a nightmare and my car came out worse than it went in. I originally went in for a tire replacement which turned into 2 tires being replaced, went in the very next day to replace the other two tires, they didn't have the tires so I made an appointment the next day. Came 5 minutes early, my car was one of the first in the bay, I asked for an additional alignment. Not only was I charged MORE for the same tires being replaced not but a day later for some mysterious reason, but my car was put out in the parking lot for a good while without my knowledge, the mechanic thinking he was done but he didn't do the alignment. If I hadn't noticed it out there it would have sat for much longer. I had to ask why my car was out there, if it was done or what, they said they forgot to do the alignment and I had to wait longer because my space was now taken even though I had an appointment. Most uncaring, unorganized, unprofessional place ever. I'm not even sure if they DID the alignment because my car drives significantly worse than when I took it in. And because they ripped me off I don't have the money to go get it fixed somewhere else. SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME, MONEY AND NIGHTMARE do not go here. I will never go to Pep Boys again, let alone this location. Wow. Wish I could have given 0 stars.
I made an appointment for 8 am this morning to have my brakes replaced. My car sat for 2 ½ hours without anyone even looking at it. Then only after I asked how much longer it would take did some one look at it and tell Me that my brakes needed to be replaced. More than 2 hours and no one even looked at my car.
I will definitely not come back here. A job that should take an hour turns into 6hours, I was there a full work shift, practically closed the shop with them. The staff was courteous and I appreciate their sympathy I been on both ends of customer service. I get the line staff can’t always do more. My review is solely on the wait time and the tech who left my vehicle and that I know the manager could have done more or at least authorize a fair discount. I took the day off to get all my maintenance done and I missed the smog check. I was sitting there all those hours a no one was working on my vehicle, the tech was gone so my truck was just sitting there. With this issues you would think they would consider getting a shuttle, other people there also mentioned they waited longer than expected. Update I made it home at 7:29pm, they workers tried their best to get me a discount but it did not seem their manager cared since he was off the clock. I appreciate the techs that helped and apologized for the tech that left my vehicle. Pep Boys had always been well known to me but I will not go back again after this.
Do NOT give this place your hard earned money, I went in Friday to have them replace a dead rear driverside turn signal. They fixed it upon getting out of work later that evening I find my whole headlights do not work , I bring it in Sunday and they tell me it will be 90$ for an inspection fee to figure out the problem. I asked how does replacing a bulb result in all my headlights not working to which the manager replies "I DONT KNOW" called HR and Ron White the district manager is going to handle it . Upon them reassembling my truck together I find a loose screw on the floor from the bottom and when I check to see of they re affixed it after telling them about it I fine TWO screws missing. This place is never getting my business again. I will tell others not to go here long as I live and recommend the place I should have taken it to the 1st time . Thanks for nothing Pep Boys.
