Says you close at 3:45 but here it is 3:33 you got your gate locked thanks for wasting my afternoon..... 8/7/25..I'll end this review with an update I have changed my two ⭐'s to five ⭐'s for good reason. Truth be told Robert and his staff have made "Recycle It" my go to place for recycling .Quick in & out, treated with Honesty, Respect & a Smile. You guy's do a 5 star service so in return I give a 5 Star review . Robert & staff thank you for the years of Business we have done. Looking forward to many more. And remember this started out a two star review over just 7min before posted closing time your gate was locked. I was bitter that afternoon, I'm over it now keep up the good work, !
Before I went to recycle my aluminum cans and plastic bottles I weighed them because I was curious to see if they were honest or not. As it turns out they are NOT honest!!! The guy took my aluminum cans while I was still standing with the other guy that was going through my plastic bottles so I didn't see him way my aluminum. I was paid for 24.8 lb when I actually had 34.8 lb. You need to be right there and watch them weigh everything so that they don't do the same to you!
Went there with a truck full of aluminum and plastic, and they started closing the door AFTER we parked and told us they were closed. It was 45 minutes before the posted closing time.
Note: lunch time is 12 pm - 12:30 pm and not listed on Google.
The staff are very nice and helpful.
Also, be prepared for some wait, but usually they are very fast.

Recycle It is fantastic! As a newcomer to Richmond, I was frustrated by many places not accepting cans or not answering calls. But Recycle It was different and worth driving a little further out for. They answered immediately, and when I asked about crushed cans, they assured me they accept them. I arrived just before their 12:00-12:30 lunch break, but they let me line up. They accept plastic bottles and glass, which is loud, so ear protection is a good idea. I had 88 pounds of pre-sorted aluminum cans, and they weighed them, gave me a paper for the cashier, and checked my ID. I received a nice check, as anything over $100 requires a check. The scale operator was kind enough to inform me that regulations limit them to accepting less than 100 pounds of aluminum cans. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they even seemed to be having a good time. Positive experience, highly recommend!
On the website it says it is open but when you come it is closed for lunch from 12 to 12:30 . At 12:30 it is still closed and men by the gate is not sure how soon they will open.
Don't bring copper. 124 dollars for 205lbs of copper wire. My coworker get almost 3 times that at Aaron's medals in Oakland.maybe they might have put it in as low voltage wire just to get over but either way I'm never bringing my copper here again
Great organized place with nice helpful workers. All the recycling places around my side of Contra Costa County have permanently closed, but this place was a wonderful discovery. I went by all the positive comments & tips mentioned by recent clients about Recycle Zone/ Recycle It.
Google and gate say they close at 3:45, pulled it at 3:31 for a guy to wave his phone at me and say sorry it’s 3:31. Apparently in microscopic letters on the gate it says “gate closes at 3:30” poor customer service
Everyone here is nice and always helpful. I forgot his name but he is always there and he saved me from a black widow so I have to say they go above and beyond. FYI when it gets hot keep an eye out for spiders. Still, clean and maintained as far as recycling places go. Then go get tacos from the taco truck down the street with your cash. Golden!
I'm giving this recycle center a 5 star because they recycle cans, bottles, and glass in exchange for cash. I was frustrated how their were no more recycling centers for the cans, bottles, and glass around me. I was told by a family member about this place. I have always been coming here and will continue to do so. Really coordinated and parking is not a hassle. A guy will bring bins for you to dump your things. Each bin must be sorted out and they are weighed at the scale. You fill out a form and wait in line by the window to redeem your cash exchange. Very clean, Great business and good people, love it!
They don't take car batteries... they seem to not screw you out of your money by somehow weighing it is less than what it is it just seems like the same things over at Suns you get paid less. Terry was very helpful and pleasant. In-N-Out quick quick quick!

Terry and Chris are such nice guys. They helped me so much. They brought over empty cans so I could fill them up. I'm 74 and have a bad shoulder so I appreciate what they did for me

The cashier was kind of Super rude. The attendant was figuring out the weight of my stuff and she is trying to tell me, I'm sorry but I've already counted my drawer!"
I'm saying to her, "I think you counted your drawer too early, because it's only obvious that they are trying to get me out of here.
Her: Well, I'm not sure I can pay you.
Me: I bet there is enough cash to pay me tonight.it doesn't cost that much for me to call your boss or whoever is over you."
She finally stopped.

Best place to recycle glass, plastics, aluminum, raw metal, and other items. Take the caps off the plastic bottles before you show up, be courteous to others, and get paid for your CRV recycling and other items. This place has a process and good operation; I like how it works, so show up if you can follow the rules and if you wanna get paid.
This is a family owned and operated business. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I've been there at least 25 times in the last 5 years or so and have witnessed their kindness and patience when dealing with the occasional pychotic street person who brings in bottles and cans. A++++++
Always gone to this place before the pandemic, no problems since it was simple. Ever since the pandemic though, there hasn’t been any updates on social distancing as well as hours, like most businesses do. Decided to turn in my cans today at 3pm on a Saturday, an hour and a half before they closed, and pulled up to a three car line wait. Understandable, since they need a system for social distancing, but they never listed this on their google page nor their website. Eventually a car is let out and another let in, but then an employee comes out and picks up and shakes a roadwork sign that says “closed” on it as if we were blind, then walks back in (It had a small piece of paper taped to it with information that he was referring to, and it was in front of the car in front of us). So the car in front and I leave at 3:30, and who knows how long that person was there because a car behind them had gotten impatient and left as we pulled up. What I’m trying to get at in this review is that your business should inform its customers of its changes on your website(s), especially in these times, instead of aggressively shaking a sign since your customers were given false information provided by the business.
Best crv payments given in east bay area in my opinion. Why I just said that is because I have been to more than a few from Oakland to Richmond to Vallejo. The staff are helpful and polite. Make sure no caps in bottles. Glass bottles need to be sorted by color. Try it and believe you me you won't be disappointed.
The guys running the place totally efin rock! Extremely cool to the situation i made after had already unbagged 19 trash bags of Empty Plastic Water Bottles. ( filled 17 of their garbage cans) ....I am a 1st time customer and next tim my Plastic Bottles Will Be"Properly Uncapped" and fo to go! ( it would have taken me hours to uncap that many bottles.
They are the best so far. I've been to 4 local recycle centers. 2vof them are operating minimal (steel, copper...) another in El Portel says open on their website. Only 1 time did I find them operating. But no receipt.

My 1stvtime there and I was unfamiliar with rules and procedures. The guys were more than helpful and patient. I was expecting more return than what I received but they go by weight and not per item but thata on me and not them. Learning experience and wanted to say Thanks to the great staff!!
Just Fabulous, once I was actually able to get in the gate. Terry who works there is always delightful and very Helpful, which is nice in order not to lift or touch all the recyclables. Makes doing this task, much easier.
They keep refusing to let me in before closing when i arrive after 4:15 NO where do the hours say they close the gate at 4:15 if the hours are posted they are the hours period! It's not my fault they don't want to work 1 minute over, it's not my fault there's a line, I break my back and get heat stroke trying to get there. I can't leave earlier on most days I wait everyday for lunch rush to be dumped to get my bottles.. I may be a pee on to them but I deserve respect. They also tell me they don't take electric motors in cast aluminum! Bull! They just dump on me cause they can. Also ripoff, other places pay way more, I just can't get there
