EXCELLENT PLACE. GOOD WORKERS TOO. I CANT BELIEVE THEY ARE SHUTTING THE PLACE DOWN FOR GOOD. HEARD THEY ARE OPENING A NEW SPOT NEAR THE TOWN DUMP. WHERE WILL THE HOMELESS GET THEIR CASH NOW?
Everyone helps each other when here. I use a walker and had 5 year old grandson helper, but such a helping spirit is always present here. Wish it wasn't closing for CRV recycling.
The people at chico scrap are friendly and helpful, plus they are on point so the whole process goes pretty quick. I visit there almost daily and have never really had any issues. Im glad they are still here and would recomend them to anyone.
Very honest guys just making a living. Ladies in the office are always kind. Directions inside are simple. Been happy with their services for a few years now.

They do their best despite being the only recycling center in Butte county it seems. Be prepared for lines and 20 - 30 min. wait times.
Don't be a boomer and try u-turning your truck at the gate while people are pulling up and end up ripping a gash down the whole side of your truck with the gate.

30 bags, 27 plastic and 3 aluminum, literally a whole econoline van full and got 124 bucks completely ripped me off. Used to get close to that that for 10 large trash bags at fair st before
I love Chico Scrap Metal! The employees here are so nice and even before they were our ONLY recycling center, I chose Chico Scrap Metal for the friendly service and better than average prices! :)
Its feels lousy to negatively put a company down- especially for the world to see. Its in our very nature to thrive on whats WRONG with people, places and things- than to focus on the GOOD points. That said- why there is only ONE recycle 'game' in town- has less to do with a deadly flu virus and lack of demand. Chico Scrap employees are rude and short with me as well with the other customers Ive noticed bringing in their recycling. I see the rates posted. But half of the time when I suspect im getting a lesser price- my questions are dismissed without explanation as if I wouldn't understand. Something dishonest is occurring there. Serious accusations I know. Sad. But I fear true. What else can Chicoans do with there recycling?
I came here with 4 95 gallon bags completely full of cans, glass, and plastic - all separated... They made us take off our plastic bottle caps and throw them to the ground (as a former homeless person, this is the only place I've ever seen do this in my life). Then, when we get up to the counter, it somehow only amounted to about $22... I would have gotten a MINIMUM of $50 literally anywhere else I've ever been. The dude at the scale pulls your cans off before the scale stops. He saw me with a pen and paper in my hand, and it didn't deter him from finding a way to still jip us...
I will sooner drive to Paradise or Yuba City to recycle than come back to this place.

has an integral role in our fair city. For the most part this business is quick, accurate, honest.
Of course we do have the lack of aesthetics, visual appreciation of said business. Therefore, Chico Scrap Metal , located mid-southern Chico City Limits,
does require a facelift.
Not only do they buy scrap metal, recyclables et al, the physical appearance of Chico Scrap Metal is an eyesore and literally diminshes the beauty of Sierra Nevada Brewery directly acrossed the street, as well as demeans the City of Chico
with it's shabby appearance. It's appearance would coincide with, be acceptable to the eye, were it adjacent The City Dump.
Busy these days since they are the only recycling center in Chico now! The employees are still polite and efficient! Still able to get in and out pretty quickly!
Great customer service, although there needs to be a line set up along the building, where the glad is processed, that'll help keep the walk-ins from overcrowding or discombobulating the flow of those who come in cars.
Tried to take in my recycling close to closing time on Friday but couldn't find anywhere to park. The parking spaces were over-run with homeless people on foot and bike...no mask, gloves, nothing. I know it's not the fault of Chico Scrap so I still give them full stars for always being helpful and friendly. And thankfully they are just about-if not the only recyclers open during this pandemic. But I worry a little about the crowd and the fact that there are no precautions being taken among them what-so-ever... so unfortunately my recycling will have to remain in my car until tomorrow.
I wouldn't trust the people that take in bottles and cans, they stole a 12 pack of beer I accidently put with my recycles and they acted like they were assisting me..I'm pretty sure each person taking in the recycles knew what they were doing, I called and told them about it and nothing was done
I called ahead to come look at some scrap pipe I needed to finish a cattle chute. The told me they charge 50 cents per pound (for stuff they pay next to nothing for) and said to come in and see what they had. I checked in at the office and she told me to check outside with the guys out back. They were literally no help, so I ventured on my own and found some suitable material. A very rude inarticulate person then told me I had to leave. I told him what I needed and he just said I had to leave. I reported this in the office and they did not respond. I will not be back and will do my business at North State Recycling in Redding.
We had some nice man help us he help derict us to parking backing up he helped and he also was very nice and brought us an can when he saw we were go9ng to need another with out us having to ask awsome best trip to recyling get.
It was a mad house (it was Saturday at noon though). That being said, prices seemed fair, the office staff was super courteous, professional, and extremely helpful. Over all, I'd go back for sure
Absolutely fantastic people and fantastic location! I've enjoyed the location in Chico, the ability to recycle materials, (a necessity in the modern world), and feel they strive to do the best they can. There's no better place for it, it's been established, and hope it continues for decades to come.
Left feeling like, they lied about the actual weight we brought it.
It was kind of busy, and were were waiting in line, and the lady working there has the worst attitude. She thought it was okay to yell at us for waiting our turn
Will be traveling else where from now on.
the staff is awesome and very nice. its located close to me and i dont have to deal with violent bums like the safeway recycling center before they closed it due to violence. prices are fair and for a scrap metal place they are pretty clean. never once popped a tire from glass on the ground.
Dood that runs scale cheats people and to think I signed that paper to help them stay at that location staff is nice but not worth getting ripped off I'll be taking my cans bottles plastic else were I even tested them took twice as mutch the last time and pay extra attention he will Evan skip a basket it's team work there and they have there faveret people they look after yup I sed it get some honest people to work 4 u
I've been going to this business for years and realized today that I've probably been getting cheated the whole time. I clearly saw their scale read, "18," but the man working there wrote down, "10." I will never go there again.
Terrible place. The guy weighing my cans only put the basket halfway on the scale. It was hot and I didn't want to argue with the guy over scraps, but when I went to turn the ticket in, the lady gave me $3 ($3 dollars for 2 large trash bags of cans). I usually get around $10-$15 at other places in Chico. Don't waste your time. These people will rip you off.
Chico Scrap Metal is the quickest recycling service I've ever used. The longest I've ever had to wait was 10 minutes. Fast and friendly, I'm a happy customer every time.
Hours are actually 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, closed for Lunch from 12 -1:00 pm daily.
I have been coming here for 20 years and I love this place! Great prices for the cans and the staff is always nice and helpful.
Looking forward to the day when I can watch the 6 o'clock news and see the Chico Police Dept give this place as much attention for fraud as they give the CSU students for drunk and disorderly partys. Came in with 55lbs of steel and came out with $2.75 for it.
