Acura stolen, recovered by OPD, towed to Auto Plus (04/24/25). Full coverage insurance. Honestly, I've read these reviews and I empathize, but do not share your experiences. Cust Service reps were fantastic and answered all my questions quickly and kindly. Had me go to the secondary lot on San Leandro to view car before payment. Those guys were on point! Lot attendant was quick on the gate, and support team were there in 2 min to answer all my questions about getting the car in sync. I just planned to see if car was total loss after theft and go home to figure it out (thankfully only minor damage). But, after Mr. Manager stepped in... let's just say after I made payment back at the office, the car was back in my garage (35 min away) in less than an hour. S. Jr., D., Mr. Mgr, you all keep on doing what your doing- made my day! 5-Stars, Thank you!
This place hires thieves. I had my car impounded here and they stole my IPad. If you go through the rest of the reviews you will see that theft is a common occurrence here at auto plus towing. I would encourage people to contact Oakland police as well as the City of Oakland. It’s ridiculous that you have to deal with your property being stolen on top of your car being towed.
It’s a tow yard - people will rarely want to leave a positive review when they get towed. Junior and a couple guys at the storage lot were very helpful, and the experience in the office wasn’t horrible. Could be worse!
This place charge me $2245 for having my van that was stolen from the San Francisco airport from September 11 to September 25th once Oakland PD decided to release my van to me. I don’t know but California is something
This owner needs to be investigated!! These people stole my car and stripped it of all parts. Don't worry Maria I got your fruit cup and bag of cookies you left. I hope the feds lock you up and throw all the keys
They steal your property.. I got My car stolen a couple of day ago. Police found my car to which I requested Pictures on what was left into car before they towed it. After my car was towed I showed Up to this place to retrieve my personal items, was told to come back with a release the next day. Came back the following day to pick up my property only to find they took my items. Filled out a report still waiting on the Manager “Maria” to give me a call. It’s been 3 days and nothing. I’ve tried reaching out and no luck. This is PLACE IS SOO UNPROFESSIONAL. Please be aware if stuff goes missing THEY TOOK IT.
Absolutely the best place to source and learn about plants! I’ve brought home many of their plants, and I always leave with more plant knowledge than I arrived. They are always my first/only stop for plant life in my home.
My car got stolen. I went to the lot to see what was missing and what got damaged. I took photos around the car. The same day (just a few hours later) my insurance arrived it and we saw more damage done by the tow yard between when I took photos and when they brought the car outside of the gate. I'm not talking about a couple of scratches. 2 messed up fenders and rear bumper. They caused more damage to the car than the thefts. Watch out!
If I could give zero stars I would. This place is criminal in the way they steal peoples’ money. Everyone who retrieves their stolen car from here is re-victimized by this company. It is a shame Oakland PD uses them as their default tow yard.
This place will damage your vehicle more than how it was found.
Went today to pick up our truck that was stolen. Walked in, saw our truck, saw the damages caused by it being stolen and paid to get it out. We asked the yard workers to bring the truck out so AAA can tow it to our home. When they had brought it out to the front, it was completely damaged by Auto Plus workers! More damaged was caused by moving it out of the yard. The truck was damaged by their fork lifts and their employees. We were in disbelief.
Of course they make you sign a waiver before they move your truck, so there is no way of holding them responsible.
The employees here will damage your car, I recommend you don’t sign the waiver form, take pictures before and after you ask them to move it.
These people are shady, they add on extra charges to your total and can't show you a break down of every cost that is being charged. They just give you a basic receipt not an itemized one, even if you ask them for one. They lie and say that they can't do that for you.
Watch out for these scammers
Trying to get my truck they give me a hard time I paid 1220, and they damage my ignition and my door lock they use a screwdriver so they can unblock it and unlock it plus forklift damage my control arm. I try talk to the manager but no answer is horrible .
I have a vehicle that was stolen and ended up there and for the past 7 days I have been trying to get ahold of someone there and not one reply. I used their trash automated service , I left voicemails and emails. This is a pure scam they are intentionally not replying so they can tack on more fees, there is a reason that they are rated so bad.
I feel like this towing company damaged my car more than the people who stole my car. This place is a racket and they work with the police to basically scam people out of their money. The workers were rude, most of the people going there are retrieving their stolen cars so they are going through so much as is and the workers just make it worst. Had to wait an hour to see my car because the dumb policemen couldn’t find it even though it was close to the gate by the entrance. Like I literally saw my car when I walked in and the dumb policemen couldn’t find it. My car was on a 72 hour investigation hold because the people who stole my car was involved in a robbery and when I finally got my car back, my car was still locked and it was filled with all of the criminals junk. The police never looked at my car or inside for the “investigation”. Then the way they have the cars stacked in the tow yard is ridiculous. They have all the cars to close together that it’ll cause more damage to the car.

My car was illegally towed (the city ruled in my favor, This Place From Hell is contracted exclusively with the city) and I had to pay over $2k to get it back. Still have yet to see my credit card charge reversed. Yay corruption.
My vehicle was stolen and taken here once recovered. When I came to pick it up they stated “we need to try and find your car first” then proceeded to take 3 hours to give me any kind of update. While I was here I listened to 3 other people having the same issue and listening to scam-like negotiations at the counter. Ridiculous.
Driver was speeding without stopping at “stop sign” and ran a Red-Light in a residential area on Edes Ave in Oakland. Almost crashed into the back of a FedEx truck and drove over the sidewalk to get around the truck.
Gave it a one star because it doesn’t give me an option for no stars. Let me start off by saying calling this place and talking to a customer representative is a nightmare! I’ve been in customer service myself for 8 plus years. And I can highly say I know the meaning of good customer service. And this place is way far from that . First off they’re so rude , not helpful what do ever and Every person you talk to gives different information. Seems like no one is on the same page . Super unprofessional. Representatives will hang up on you like they have a personal issue with you. What type of business are you running here ? I called twice and both representatives gave me different answers for the same question. GET IT TOGETHER!!!!!
Rude and incompetent staff. Just ask to speak with Martel, he must be their boss as they will promptly hang up on you. There were items stolen out of the car. They refused to release the car, falsely claiming police hold. The police released the car to ME so there can’t be any hold as i ordered the tow. They lie in order to hold your car longer and extort additional fees.
This place will rip you off. Our car was stolen (probably by someone who works here); it was found by police "intact". We went to pick it up, and it was completely stripped. If your car ends up here, you might as well consider it gone for good.
Over charge as usual. Paid and sent me to a garage that no one was there. Waited 30 min. Went back to office. He then radio the guy to open door. Bad service
This company partners with the City of Oakland and OPD. They take advantage of poor people. They make a business out of towing and selling stolen cars. Other cities give owners the chance to pick up their stolen car, Oakland and Auto Plus chooses to immediately tow, with a fee of $350+, preventing many people from ever recovering their vehicle. They prey on the vulnerable, use our tax dollars to operate, and they steal cars and strip them in the yard. Terrible experience.
Edit: they also charged me an extra $100 for "special equipment". I came prepared to pay the amount they told me on the phone, but it ended up costing more. This could not be explained further. When I towed the car home, no special equipment was needed. They take advantage of people who are in a tough situation. I had to borrow money and nearly lost my vehicle forever.
Car got hit while parked, had to go to OPD first to pay 166.00 for a release before going here to have my insurance company have thier tow company pick up my vehicle. They keep the cars right next to the flea market. But the office is around the corner. The staff is cool.
Vehicle was stolen, this tow yard picked it up as per their contract with the city of Oakland. The call I got from Oakland pd stated that it was damaged, but not stripped and the plates were still intact. Do these photos look like it's not stripped?!? This is the condition off it when I got there the day after they picked it up of the streets Had I realized that the message from Oakland pd said that it WASN'T stripped I'd have had some questions for them. I'd love to have heard they're excuses as they fumbled around trying to explain what they did. This place steals vehicles, dismantles them pre-emptively, and has unreal prices for towing and vehicle storage. They should be shut down.
They tow “STOLEN VEHICLES” for the city of Oakland and then hold those vehicles hostage from the victim. Period. And if you can’t afford the exorbitant rates ($260.00 per 1/2 hour tow-$100 per day storage) they are more than “willing” to keep your car instead to cover the costs. Basically your car is stolen a second time and held for money. Add to that the Oakland Police Department actually sanctions this legal criminal behaviour. I would NEVER get my vehicle fixed here knowing this is how they treat victims of theft. Period. I live in SF. We are fortunate to have a Police Department that doesn’t victimise people a second time. Since SF has proven it’s possible to do that maybe the city of Oakland and Auto Plus should look into ways to respect our communities. In the meantime stay away from this place unless you are forced to deal with them. Paying them to perform car any repairs is like paying drug cartels to rehab you. It’s a sham. Period
Customer service is terrible and fees are way too expensive. I was told that I would get a discount on the towing fees but there was no discount. I paid a total of 476 for the first day my car was in the yard. I came back in my car to find black stains on my seats and interior door. Absolutely hated my experience
I can't complain at all because I was satisfied with the help I got from Auto Plus towing, continue doing the good job even at other people who experience what I have just experienced
Worst service service ever! I'm not sure how anyone here has a job! None of the people here know anything about your car!! They will damage your car! Plus the people here lie to customers.
I strongly encourage anyone who has to come here to take plenty of photos. If you go there to view your vehicle (perhaps because you can't afford to get the car out just yet) take pictures before and after they release it to you.
They towed my girlfriends car without tires but would not release the car until our own tow company brought it out. Just in case you missed it, they towed it in but wouldn't tow it to the streets to have our mechanic put the tires back on the car. Make sure you have your insurance ready because this company doesn't care about you or your car. They will laugh about you not knowing about the damages they have caused.
