This company is one of the worst polluters in the Bay Area which is why the city has an approved consent order against them. Of course they are fighting it because their bottom line is more important than human life and safety.
This place has to be one of if not the worst of Bay Area polluters. They have prime port real estate on the Oakland estuary next to Jack London Square between West Oakland and China Town where they crank particulates into the air all day long and frequently have accidents like the massive fire/smoke plume covering a huge swath of Oakland and it’s neighbors tonight. One can only tremble in terror when considering the toxins this industry out into the environment, right in the heart of the San Francisco Bay. Thanks Schnitzer!
Never would have thought I’d write a review of a scrap metal place as I’ve never been to one & frankly, thought I would be kind of intimidated. The service and care here, by Carl, was outstanding. My father was an artist printmaker & I had a lot of old metal plates to scrap. Carl was so helpful in explaining how it worked and I learned a lot about different kinds of metals. Fascinating.
I believe Carl is the weight master at the Oakland location and I have to say that he and his staff are the best and I continue to frequent their business because of them. I scrap maybe 5 to 10 a year and when I do Carl is sure to greet me with a smile and I always remembers my name. Also he takes the time to teach me about the different types of metal how they're graded and what they look for. So by teaching me I have my materials separated before even getting in line which in turn gets me in and out even faster. So thank you Carl to you and your staff for a great experience every time I scrap. Keep up the good work.
