I highly recommend this place. I needed a new ignition. I first called them for a price. They did not hesitate so I could tell it was a standard price. Just from the phone call alone I got the feeling of honesty and trustworthiness. They were the least expensive of the places I called. They got me right in. I had my car back in a couple hours. You can’t go wrong with this place.
Incredibly fast return time. Came in for a rear window replacement, they had the part delivered at 4:30pm and finished by 6pm. Everything works perfectly and put back together. Even vacuumed all the glass that was left over. Highly recommend.
Ben has helped me with two cars. He’s always been kind and professional, if you’re thinking of going here for any mechanical issues on your car. This is a mechanic you can trust.
This is the first time I had my car fixed here, and I am pretty sure this would be my first choice from now on. Ben does a very good job giving me estimate of time. He took his ETA as a commitment, and tried very hard to honor it. He also does very good job communicating what the issues are, and the cost, with breakdown. When I went to pick up my car, he also showed me several other places, with pictures, where parts are worn out. He wasn't trying to get me to spend more money there, since it was after I have already paid for his service. He just wanted to give me some expectations on soon to be future problems. This helps me tremendously in understanding the condition of my car. Good work and great communication. Thanks Ben.
Very bad experience. Last October, I paid 1500$ in total for them to fix my car, in the end, they created more problems: they changed the coolant tank and water pump, but it leaked more, they also replaced the actuator, but since that, the car always makes a weird noise when starting. The car is literally died and I sold it at $1300. If you don’t want your car to be destroyed, avoid this repair
Got coolant reservoir changed there. After the repairs, the car is still leaking about 1 bottle of coolant every week, with coolant splashing everywhere under the hood.
Also got transmission actuator changed. Transmission never worked properly after that. Actually feel like they made it worse than it was before.
Just don't go there.
I cannot express enough how appreciative I am of this place. I am from out of town and my car broke down on the freeway. I was able to call them, spoke with Ben, and he gave me a quote over the phone and an expected timeline, all while waiting for the two truck. Once my car was dropped off, Ben (and I believe it was his wife?) were very nice and talked me through everything. Not only were they great, I felt comfortable leaving my car there while I was still able to continue on with my trip. Ben stayed in contact with me the entire time about my car, and it was diagnosed, repaired, and ready all the same day. My final quote was exactly what they gave me from the beginning, and I made it home with no further issues. They provided me photos, explanations, and just good ol' fashion hospitality all throughout the process. I again cannot express enough how grateful I am for their professionalism and kindness. Great work, great people. Would highly recommend.
They are very professional and friendly. When they found additional problems from car, they will send photos and then call you to explain which item is recommended to fix/replace immediately for safety concerns. Which item can wait until next service? I compare with their quote to other auto works, they are very reasonable.
From my experience, either dealership or other auto works won't take photos but only saying " you need to fix this, that, and how much it going to be, etc..".
My car is very old, I am very happy to find "Fremont Auto Works". It's like when you are getting older, you need to have a very good family doctor..

I have been to this shop several times, but my experiences have been getting worse each time. I brought my car in to have a major service done: all four brake pads and rotors, all four corners of the suspension, and an oil change. As I got the car back, my brakes were squealing worse than before. This shouldn’t have happened after a major service, but unfortunately was the case. I drive a semi long commute across the bay and was hoping my car would be in good shape as it was daily driven, but I guess this shop feels like that is too much to ask for. They use the cheapest non-OEM parts to save here and there(might be more economical for the customer), but the result is now that squealing noises appear during light braking under 10 mph. I even specifically told them I am willing to pay extra for decent OEM parts, but that means they would lose out on $$ if I won’t bring my car in for service that often.
The second time I was there, they mentioned my brakes were squealing, so I thought it needed to be changed soon. The last time I was here, the lady in the front mentioned that their mechanics told them the brakes were at 50% still and said a replacement was not needed. If they had communicated or called me, I would have waited until a replacement was needed, but they went ahead and changed all the brake pads and rotors so they could make a few extra bucks. I paid for it cause all the work was done, a honest shop would not pull this trick.
The kicker? I had asked them to rotate my tires on two separate visits and even paid for the service on the last visit, and of course they didn’t manage to rotate it when they had to take it off and replace the whole suspension also. When I went to go pay for the bill because all the other work was done, the lady in the front even mentioned that they rotated it and had the galls to lie to my face. That was the final straw for me, charging me for a service that was not completed and the reason I can’t trust this shop anymore. I will be replacing my tires at Costco and taking my business elsewhere that does not prey on customers.
I really wanted to give them a chance and the benefit of the doubt, but it is unfortunate that they felt the need to trick customers who do not know much about cars. They are intimidated by people who know a thing about cars, so I was given the runaround. I was hoping to bring my other car in, a Toyota MR2, for an engine swap, but I simply do not trust this shop anymore if they can’t even correctly change my brakes correctly. I will be taking my business elsewhere and will not be returning.
The best place I've found to take my car. Ben took care of my car better than any other place so far. Always gave me great prices. After I moved away from there, the new mechanics I went to complimented what great condition my car was.
I had oil change and tire rotation for Honda CR-V. Appointment booked on call and service completed within 1 hour. Good in communication and responding on call/in person. I will come here for next service as well.
I trust Ben with my cars, he never tries to sell anything, very honest.. always thorough with inspections. His prices have increased but it's same case everywhere.
Fremont Auto works- This is simply reliable service. Never seen a customer service this better. Staff is very polite and their estimation for your car repair or work is simply trustworthy.
Ben and his team are always amazing whenever I bring my car in. This is my first car and she's an old gal, she's had to have a few things done on her and I always feel comfortable and taken care of here. They don't try to charge you obnoxious fees and are always super kind. This is who I always recommend to people whenever they need something done to their car bc I know here it's done with care. 10/10
THEY DIDN’T REPAIR MY CAR BUT I WAS CHARGED FOR HUNDREDS.
I went there 2 months ago to replace several parts of my car, when I picked up my car I asked for the parts they took out from my car, I was told they were thrown away. Today I went to another auto repair shop, they told me the part was not replaced, it’s obviously worn out bad.
I had to have my vehicle towed to Fremont Auto just as they were closing. Ben (who i believe is the owner) was great. He said he would check it out 1st thing in the morning, which he did.

I've been going to Fremont Auto Works for years. Ever since he had his first shop off of Mowry. The prices are always fair and the communication is thorough and honest. Bihn has become almost a family friend as others in my family take their vehicles to him too. Even if its just advice or friendly banter, he's always welcoming and easy to talk to.
Let me start out by saying Ben is the best mechanic I have ever had the pleasure if dealing with. About a year ago now we drove from utah to santa cruz and on our way back our vehicle overheated and we couldn't continue. After heading to autozone and asking for a recommendation Ben was there recommendation and for good reason. We Informed him of our situation and he did all he could to get the vehicle back to us asap. I was also so happy with the price he really did us a solid if he lived closer he would be my go to mechanic for everything i definitely will stop by again the next time I go back.
Ben is a great person to work with I was having major trouble with my truck ECM even though he didn’t work on diesels she was able to diagnose the problem and get it repaired very quickly. He is very informative and keeps in constant contact throughout the repair process. I was extremely surprised when he called me a few days later as a courtesy call to make sure that everything was still running and working properly. It was a great experience I would recommend Ben and Fremont auto works to anyone
Great service! Couldn't get my hitch attached to my 2011 Prius properly, walked in 15 minutes before they closed and got it fixed for a super low cost (and without appointment)! Would definitely come back for future business!
I have been going to Ben for years. He runs a great shop and is the most fair and honest mechanic in the area. He will give you the best advice on what to do with your car, even if it means he will not work on it. It is no wonder his shop has grown so much in the recent years and why he has so many repeat customers. My friends, family and I take all our cars here, anything from Japanese makes to German makes.
Nice work. But we need to give multiple reminders to this guy :) He forgot to complete all the works, then he accepted his fault and took the car back for rework without any additional cost. Reasonable price.
Exceptional people and work. My breaks were destroyed and seizing in reverse. They got me in and out in time for work, with new breaks, rotors and calipers. They not only showed me the damaged parts on my car, they also explained in detail it's purpose and need for replacing or possibly salvaging each part. They worked with me on the price and even added 2 quarts of oil for free. Best experience ever.
I went to replace my side view mirror but looks like I was charged $50 more on parts. They bought the parts from Toyota but charged me the listing price instead of their discounted price, which I came to know later on. I asked them about this but it was too late as I had already paid for it. I will never go there.
