Worst company hands down changed my Service to 2x weekly has been 3 weeks and still No change in service. I call every week and they assure me it was fixed and service will begin next week, again it's been 3 weeks. I have spent 20-30 minutes every week with them. A complete Waste and unprofessional Company. Spoke with Sherri and Karen - 3x on this matter and they assured me It's been handled Yet again nothings been handled besides My time being wasted

I would give one star if possible. They always 1) delay, 2) not fully empty the bins, 3) crush bins, 4) not pick waste if the bins are not COMPLETE closed, 5) never pick up the call

First of all, does Waste Management even read the customer statements? In the last year I have called and or gone on line for a replacement. Because the garbage truck ate our black bin on pickup day. Last time it took almost 3 weeks before we finally got a bin and that was because my wife just happened to stop a supervisor that was driving in our neighbor. This time, because of the union strike the black bin was picked up last Thursday morning. When it was picked up, I watched the bin drop into the back of the truck again for the second time this year. Well my wife requested on line that we get a replaced again. LIKE always no info about when a replacement will arrive. 4 working days no bin. So Wednesday morning I drove to the office and told the receptionist about bin. She wrote my information in her computer and assured me that I would get a bin on Thursday. WELL 3:40pm No show. So I called the office and asked about the replacement. I think the guy name was Brian he said that the delivery had been reschedule for Friday. So of course I had to yell and complain to poor Brian. My question any doesn't anymore at the office just text you or call you and say we're sorry we reschedule your drop off. Why can't I just pickup a bin at the yard instead of waiting DAYS for one to arrive at your house?

Horrible service, high costs, drivers dump bins on the street sometimes and the trash falls on the road. I don't know why cities can't change to a different provider. Is there no competition for them? Plus they go on strike all over the country. Oh, when you call customer service, you are on hold forever until your phone battery runs out. Fremont city council, garbage service is an essential service, we cannot be held hostage like this. Please find a repalcement Republic Services is absolutely the worst!

The bins have been outside for two weeks. No action at all. Yes there is a strike whatever, but isn't that what you as a company supposed to resolve? We paid you for the service. Show your solutions? Why do we care that if you are negotiating contracts or not? We just need the service we paid for. This company really has to go. We need a replacement in union city and fremont.

How is this company in business? They almost doubled the price of garbage collection in union city and next day after I pay their revised bills, they go on strike without ETA on when garbage would be collected. I also see the same pattern across all reviews - they miss pickups repeatedly, lie saying the truck is on the way when you call back each day to collect missed garbage, and endless wait times. We have no choice but to throw garbage on the street as a pile. They need to send replacement crew to collect garbage, this is a public health safety concern. Is anyone watching this space? Shame on you republic service. File bankruptcy you’re worthless.

Beverly Borsa Well, we just went through a COVID crisis and I thought it was clear that being clean is the best protection. Sorry but I personally am not bringing my trash to their station and soiling up my car! We pay for this service to protect our health and the city we live. Shame on Republic Service for putting our health at risk. I run a care home and pay extra for the larger can`s to keep things from infestation. So now what? Do you want soiled diapers sitting in the streets for weeks on end? I will be notifying Public Health on this. Again, shame on Republic Service

Trash is piling up across Fremont neighborhoods, creating a serious public health risk. The overflowing bins and mounting waste are attracting pests, generating foul odors, and posing dangers to our families and environment. We urge the City of Fremont to act immediately. Declare a public health emergency, establish temporary drop-off sites for residents, and explore penalties or alternative waste services if Republic Services cannot fulfill its obligations. Residents of Fremont should not be left to suffer the consequences of a corporate labor dispute. It is time for our local government to step in and prioritize the health and well-being of our community! Please join me in pressuring our local leaders to act on this issue as these disputes can last many weeks.

Name a defect and Republic Services has them all: unreliable service, inept customer service, trucks that leak oil and hydraulic fluid all over the streets and a total lack of effective communication with customers. Waste Management Inc. was SOOOOO much better.

Republic Services is a joke. The carts went out on Monday. Guess what? It’s Wednesday and nobody is here to pick it up. The neighborhood stinks. If only they could have done something to prevent this strike from taking place…

EDIT 7/8/2025: In addition to the garbage collection crews continuing to block my car into my own driveway with the empty cans on a regular basis, the Customer Service people flat out LIE to their customers!! I have NO respect for LIARS!!! Our garbage was not picked up today at all. I called to ask why. Instead of telling me the truth: The garbage collectors are on a solidarity strike to support the union members who are on strike, the Customer Service person LIED to me saying there was "just a delay" this morning. Again. I have NO respect for LIARS!!!! Did they think I wouldn't learn the truth? Management: SHAME ON YOU!! Original Review: I would give zero stars if I could. I have lived in Fremont for 22 years. I am a wheelchair user. For 22 years the trash collectors have made a practice of placing our empty trash cans BEHIND MY CAR BLOCKING MY CAR INTO MY OWN DRIVEWAY! I AM A WHEELCHAIR USER. Screenshot: Notice the original position of our blue recycle bin. Video: This was how my neighbor's and mine were pickup and swapped (my bin is the larger one) Both screenshot and video have date/time stamps on the left upper corner. If 18" space is mandated between bins, please train the employees to put the bins back as they are. Leaving the bins all over the place after pickup is not acceptable. Not only is our driveway blocked, but the street is also blocked. All because of the convenience of an employee on a job. SMH.

I disposed of the trash on Thursday 05/01/2025 and it was picked up by my neighbors on Friday, but they skipped mine. Customer service lied to me, saying they would pick it up the same day until 7:00 PM, but they had already skipped mine. I called back on Friday, Monday , Tuesday and was apologetic. The driver's trucks will be picking up my trash until 7 pm, and I am feeling frustrated and won't be calling again. I am feeling upset and frustrated because my trash is very full. Although I paid too much monthly, the service was not satisfactory at all. I hope they don't skip again. And the truck driver needs to pay attention.

Trash company or scam operation? Republic Services needs to GO. In Fremont, they’ve left my trash bin half full two weeks in a row. I called twice last week, and they promised a pickup. They lied. No one came. This week? Same crap. Bin half full again. Extra bags from last week still rotting. Called again today—THEY HUNG UP ON ME. Not once. Just called again and agent Bacia hung up on me again after I asked for a supervisor. That would 7 times this week. This is not a mistake. This is a pattern. Fellow Alameda County residents: it’s time to raise hell. Contact your city officials. Flood them with complaints. Demand they terminate Republic’s contract and find a provider that actually gives a damn. Post your reviews. Spread the word. Trash deserves to be collected. Republic deserves to be fired. Update - trash is still there on the street Republic Services fails to do their job and respond to requests. Added more photos. Submitted complained to the City of Fremont. called the 5 times. The lady called Steele told me my case number is 214094239. They still do nothing. Republic Services needs should be fired.

Unreliable. Asked for trash cans to be replaced, they “scheduled” the service, someone picked up the cans and nobody replaced them. 5 calls to customer service, no resolution except “wait a week.” I was told three different stories in the last 2 days, 1- the driver said there were no cans to pick up (I have a video of them taking them), 2- I already had cans (what?), and now 3- we were running low on cans so we hope to give you some on Friday. Edit: Don’t be fooled by their responses here, they take no additional action if you reach out. No idea how this poor level of service continues to be used by this county. So now their solution is to throw trash outside my house, and then take bags to curb on trash day, and I’m expecting the drivers to not pick up our trash and have another fun few calls with customer service.

Been here for 25 years, Lately Black and Blue bins after pickup they just leave blocking the drive way or left on middle of the road or worse left lying with open lid. These drivers are lazy. Only green bin after picking up leave very nicely. I leave enough space between bins. Next week I will take photos of the entire street and upload.

Some of the drivers doing the pickups are not paying attention at all, they have taken our recycle AND our recycling bin several times in the last couple of years. How do you not notice that a huge blue bin wasn't put back on our street? Whenever this happens, I call republic svcs, and it's always some grumpy person answering the call. This person then would tell me "just pile your recycle curbside and I'll have them give you a new bin next pickup date next week". That's not really helpful as it is super windy and I really don't need to have massive amounts of recycling flying around. Additionally, they have often scattered recycling all over our streets, and us being a corner house, it all ends up in our front lawn. Oh and a few years ago, Monday pickups always ended up being Tues/Wed pickups. Super unreliable in every way.

I live in Newark and every since they changed our trash pick up to Fridays we have had nothing but issues. Just today our black trash was not picked up however my neighbors was. How do you miss it when they are on the street not 5 feet away from each other. We called and the person was very nice however she replied that they are picking up trash until 7pm this evening, but if they don't pick up today then they will pick up on Monday. This is a constant issue. Either they miss a trash can or trash is left all over the street and garbage cans are knocked over.

Last Thursday I sat my trash out for Friday pickup. As you see they picked up my neighbors but not mine. I called at 2:00 pm to ask why, I had no notes or anything so they apologized and said they would try to pick it up that day or Monday. Monday came around 3 pm I called back they apologized but said trucks run until 7 that it will be taken care of. Now it's Wednesday at 1100 am I've called everyday my trash is still here and they get an attitude with me because now I'm frustrated. They say you have to understand we need to investigate this. Tomorrow night is when I set my trash out. So I have no faith they will fix their mistakes my only hope is they don't skip me again.

This is not the first time it's happened but the latest is that my yard waste was not picked up and drove past my place twice to get all my neighbors and still didn't get mine. Called Friday on pickup day then Saturday then Monday then Tuesday and by Wednesday they picked it up but by then I couldn't do my yard work for that week. I spoke with 5 different accociates and they all read my the same cue card! Thank fir being a valued customer! Really that's how you treat them. Never got one call back stating that they had screwed up with 5 of them taking notes,but let me tell u when your bill is due they hound you like you're going to leave the country! It gets worse but I've said enough for now. They can go back and read there notes and really see what's going on!! Poor service!

We are extremely disappointed with how Republic Services handles our trash pick-up. We've had numerous missed pick-ups, and despite reaching out every other week to report these issues, the problem persists. To make matters worse, even though we pay extra for them to take our bins back, they consistently fail to do so. The lack of reliability and customer service is incredibly frustrating. We expect much better, especially when we are paying for additional services that are not being fulfilled.

I’ve been a customer for over 7 years. Republic services suddenly closed down my account and opened it under a different person’s name without me even knowing about it. After getting unexpected trash cans, I called in and they reinstated my account, but that introduced billing errors to my account starting from the September invoice. I’ve been calling every single week for over a month now to get this fixed, but the problem is still not fixed! I could only talk to customer support who sends messages to the billing department. And the billing department either emailed me the wrong invoice or provided breakdown on the wrong invoice! And they asked me to call the customer support again for further support! I have no way to talk to the billing department directly. I’ve been stuck in this loop between customer support not being to describe/solve the problem and billing department not being able to understand the problem. I expect full responsibility and accountability from Republic Services for the mess they created, but so far what I have received is disappointment after disappointment every week.

Company regularly misses pickup days and will pickup the next day. Needed to cancel service because I was moving. The lady on the phone fat fingered the date to a date literally in the past. Apparently, they have no warning when inputting a date in the past. They took my bins, and I called to get them back (this is when I found out about the error). The initial support guy forwarded me and told me to to reset up service with expedited shipment of my bins back. The lady didn't even bother offering this, and I told her "hey the last guy said you can do expedite it. That's what I want." she gave me attitude during the whole process like no other. Called again to check on my case. The customer support person didn't even bother to expedite the service. The new customer support guy said "nope I see no request for this. Let me fix that." Goes to show that if this company ever messes up, they will never try to make it right. God awful service. If they just let me pick the date digitally like every other service, this would not have happened.

We had to dump our broken bed spring and computer monitor, we first visited the drop off at Dixon landing road and they charged us a whopping $80 + $35 in total. We suspected a foul play and drove to our usual, the drop off at alameda county. These people were awesome, they took the Monitor for free and also bed sping for free though their board showed us a fee.

I have been calling this company to address the notices that were left in our bins. Call was from 9 AM to 10:10 AM. No one picks up. Anyway, I do not own the house but rent due to proximity to work. The notice was for not leaving the bins 4 inches from the curb. When we checked the website and all other waste management locations, their websites say to leave the bins against the curb. But we want to follow their rules and with due diligence and so we did. But which one do you guys like? 4 inches away from the curb or against the curb. Seriously, we have other things to take care of. Next time, we received again a notice: this time it said that the carts are too close together. Honestly, due to the neighbor who rents his place as well, his tenants park on the curb right in front of our house and we do not have enough parking space BUT we still distanced the carts so that there will be enough space for the truck "arms" to pick up the carts. So that day, we did our best to put the bins the farthest we can from the parked car and with enough space still for the garbage truck "arms" to grab the bins. We didn't know the carts had to be exactly 2' from each other.. We felt defeated. We are not trying to make the garbage collectors' life difficult but can you also respect the residents who at least tried to make it work. We've seen other people who were not exact with their measurements and some have lids that don't close completely, because an average household with 4 family members had to clean which is the point of this. To keep a community healthy and safe by keeping a clean environment. Please don't stress the tenants as well with these notices. Talk to the owner of the house. Thank you. I wish we have the same garbage collectors in Castro Valley or Hayward. They do not mind occasional and unintentional non-conformance because life is not built on rigid sets of measurements. We were a little off by maybe 0.5" on the cart distance. Don't reprimand us for this. This is a hassle. The point is to collect trash whatever way possible and do your work. Everybody takes responsibility so just because we don't have enough space due to a neighbor's tenant who doesn't want to give us space since we are renters, women and minority, don't intimidate us and single us out and not collect our trash on the next pickup, or pressure us into talking to a neighbor's tenant who is unwelcoming. Do not put blame on the residents/tenants especially when they are responsible tenants who also work hard like you. These things can be easily addressed without having to award us with pink certificates just so we know you are doing your job. WE GET IT. Our yard waste was not even picked up. It was leaves and branches and again, the landlord is responsible for the upkeep of his house but we feel like the tenants have been tasked to do these things regardless and we help too but this is not helpful. I posted a pic. You see the bins of other houses and it's touching the sides of each cart, did they get pink notices???? NOOOOOO.. for the simple reason that residents don't try to make your life difficult, sometimes life gets in the way and we barely have time to master the art of perfecting the way of putting the carts in the curb, with exact measurements. Do you want medals or more recognition? You already won a contract from the city!!! Anyway, does anyone know if Republic Services are contracted by the city? I was going to suggest to our city a different company in a city meeting.

Garbage truck blew a hydraulic oil line on the street leaving gallons and gallons of oil running off into the soil. Their mechanic repaired the truck and they both drove off without any attempt to clean up their hazardous spill. Irresponsible and unprofessional!
