Nice quiet crossing with welcoming, pleasant and helpful customs agents.

The Lukeville Border Station is a stark yet fascinating gateway between nations, where desert vastness meets the flow of human movement. Surrounded by sweeping Sonoran landscapes and prickly silhouettes of saguaro, it offers travelers a striking mix of solitude, tension, and connection. More than just a crossing point, it’s a living reminder of the challenges, opportunities, and contrasts that define life along the U.S.–Mexico border

I just called to ask why a family member was being held by Mexican Aduana (border officials) on this side, escorted by U.S. Border Patrol. When I spoke to a supervisor, she accused me of yelling — which I did not do. The call was recorded, and she refused to even provide her name. I will be filing a report for this incident to CBP. You work for the American people, and treating us this way when I was simply asking for help is unacceptable. Mexican officials had stopped my sister on this side of the border while U.S. Border Patrol was escorting them, and she was being forced back into Mexico for “checks” even though they were already 8 miles inside the U.S. For the supervisor to dismiss my concerns and hang up on me is unprofessional and uncalled for.

Worst experience i ever had in my life the staffed sucks mrs rosa is rude as hell they treated my wife and i like we are criminals the whole time i was stuck waiting for a sheriff to come all you hear (2) of the officers talking about how much over time they made not even doing anything and talking about spider man movies coming out annoying

Only 1 lane open to cross over into Mexico. Road too narrow, can't get to gas station. Line almost a mile long. Should widen road to accommodate people trying to get to bathrooms and gas up. Come very early to cross into Mexico, especially during holidays. Gates open at 6 am. Closes at 8:pm

The status of the border said temporary closed but is working, google is not providing an accurate service on this one, please update the status!

The Lukaville port of entry has been open since January 4, 2024. It’s confusing that Google Maps still shows it as closed. I traveled through a week ago and had a smooth trip all the way to Puerto Peñasco.

Border is back to NORMAL hours since Jan 4th 2024.....Not sure WHY Google is saying it's closed, because it's NOT! Enjoy your time in Rocky Point! Come and visit the brand new Encantame Towers!

Easy, chill crossing, road to Puerto Peñasco is easy and pothole-free, and despite what Google says, it's very much open (after a brief closure weeks ago).

Passed throughout our way to Puerto Penasco on a Friday afternoon. Zero backups and few people around at all. Came back through on Sunday afternoon and it was just the same. A few cars ahead of us. Whole process took no more than 4 minutes. Didn't see anything like what is being put out in the news.

No wait time (maybe had 2 cars in front of me), but I did drive through on a non holiday weekday. The officer was not rude, He was nice (just did his job), and I was in and out fast.

Quick entry. I'm a US citizen. My family & myself were going to Puerto Penasco. Don't forget to bring your children's Birth certificates because you WILL get scolded or worse. (Forgot my infants & they made it known we aren't allowed to cross without passports)

Quick, easy and professional. Appropriate number of booths open based on the traffic. We probably sat for about 20 minutes in line total on a Monday at 1 pm after a concert. You do have the chance of being randomly screened through an x-ray and such or even having your vehicle searched, so include that possibility in your travel time. Note the closing time of the border as well so you don’t get stranded!

Just crossed here and a border control agent nearly seized the insulin we bought for our Type 1 diabetic (which was within legal limits to bring across from Mexico), told us it doesn't work (lots of people buy insulin in Mexico and we bought the exact products we have prescriptions for), told us our dr wouldn't approve (when in fact she does and my husband is an advanced practice nurse--they know US insurance/drug prices are terrible), and told us that what we were doing was illegal. When I got my phone out to look up the actual laws to show him, he told me to put my phone away, citing the signs that say no recording (so much for government accountability!!). The other 2 agents we interacted with at the crossing were great, but this particular man was on a power trip. We got INSULIN not opiates. The most tragic thing is that I'm sure this review will have no effect... I highly doubt Border Control cares about customer service. But, for those of you out there hoping to buy life saving drugs at a lower cost than in the US--read up on the law and your rights ahead of time. And maybe think about going to Los Algodones.

Completely professional and very polite Since we traveled in on a passenger van taxi we had to unload our bags and walk into the customs building. Traffic was super light on Thursday. Crossing back into the USA was simple with a passport. IMO

Border patrol officials made my mom throw away her bottle of eggnog she was bringing back from Mexico when she’s crossed with it before. They told her she had to leave it there with them when she was going to go back to throw it away on the Mexican side where they were sending people to throw things away. Made it seem as if they only told her the bottle couldn’t pass just so they could keep it for themselves.

Wonderful experience on both sides of the border! Entering Mexico was handled by true professionals and then returning to The United States of America was professional, timely, and welcoming! Had no idea the border closed and was very happy to be let across exactly at 6 AM! Thank you!

Thank you for allowing us to stay in the A/C when our car broke down. The US Customs Agents were friendly and helpful! We probably would have had heat stroke if we hadn’t been saved by US Customs.

We had a wonderful, stress free crossing experience. We crossed into the US at 7 am and had just two cars in front of us in line. Officers were friendly and professional.

Usually a line on holidays. But the border guards are pleasant and efficient. They are staying outrun until 10 on some holidays. However if you get there too late there is another 24 hour crossing at San Luis near Yuma. A little far away but better than just sitting there all night in a car.

We come from all the way in pheonix just to come to the borders being closed now we have to sleep in the car wait till 6 am to enter. Even more ridiculous is that it rained and it was making big traffic and they could have left the borders open for at least 8:30 for people who got stuck in that water traffic to come in but nope at least close the borders at 10

#1 this Border should be OPEN 24/7 except holydays #2 the lines get insane on both sides, we need 2 more entries at this Zone #3 in January 2022, this guys will ask for your Jab paperwork, this, shouldn't apply to Residents and Citizens, that's is making this fell like Germany 1940s. Stay safe Y'all, including hard working officers.

I can't believe there aren't more signs that this crossing now closes at 8. So many people didn't make it in time and were separated from their families, missed hotels, had to sleep in their cars with small kids, just because they didn't know that it's no longer open until midnight. We arrived at 8:30 thinking we had plenty of time, and when we tried to ask for information about it, the guards didn't even have the common decency to open their window so we could hear them.

Need to open the border 24 hours, the lines to cross the border are insane. People wants to go for the day from Phoenix but with the border closing so early is impossible. I believe we pay for this when we pay our taxes. There is a lot people that needs jobs so open another shift and let us enjoy the ocean please.

The BP from our experirnce is nice, but the wait time app is BS. It may say 20 min but in reality it's 4-5 hrs. Not sure where they get their info on the wait times to cross the MX border esp in Lukeville.

09/07/2020 Hundreds if not thousands of U.S CITIZENS awaited to cross the border for hours, personally 5 hours and still did not cross. It is disappointing U.S customs shut down at 8:00pm when plenty of citizens awaiting in line placing them in harms way by leaving them on the road exposed to organized criminal activity and corruption... it is understandable they close at 8:00 pm but the safety of the public is paramount. I know we all came down here on our own free will, but I have traveled here many times and this is the first time I have experienced this with the border.....

We arrived at 1030pm (left after work) and they were “closed”. We had a one night reservation at a resort for a little get away that we missed because we couldn’t cross. Hopefully we can get our hotel money and Mexico insurance cost back :/

Fortunately there was no line when crossing the border from Mexico to the US at 9:30am on a Friday. However, the agents are extremely rude and condescending (we are American citizens, with an Arizona license plate, and very white). My husband had to bite his tongue with how rude they were being to us! The only reason we were nice despite their extreme arrogance and rudeness was because we didn’t want to be detained!

The border officer coming back into US was a total jerk. After he asked us if we were bringing anything from Mexico back into the US my husband said “no, just good memories”. This guy then very rudely lectured us about how he could care less if we had made good memories or not and when he asks if we are bringing anything back we should answer the question not add things like “good memories”. Wow.... we were shocked at what a total prick he was. I am a retired law enforcement officer and I would never have treated someone with as much disrespect when they are just being friendly. All of the other border patrol officers, at the check points, that we encountered were all very friendly and polite.
