I booked this looking for a "wellness vacation" I wanted a trip where I could be active and feel relaxed. It was the perfect combo. I loved the yoga, meditation and hiking - but I'll miss the unexpected things like waking up to a fire in our room with the provided coffee and snacks. And the view from our room each morning was unbelievable. At the end of the night we had thoughtful gifts on our bed. I was also always intrigued to see what we'd get. They were always something to encourage a disconnect from the rest of the world - like puzzles or playing cards. The hot springs were magical - as was all the water, and the guided hikes with Amanda are phenomenal. Last note - the helicopter rides to and from are worth it. They really complete the 10/10 experience. OMG wait the food - whether you're a foodie like my husband (Joe) or more picky like me, they take care of you. One night I mentioned I didn't like vinegar - everyone who worked there knew it the next day and I never had to worry about it in a course again. I was constantly full and Joe couldn't get enough. With all the healthy options, it's totally a trip you can feel good about if you're into wellness.

My second time at CHS and it did not dissapoint and I really want to make a yearly trip out of this. The staff is incredible and very good at what they do, the food makes me want to live on-site so I can eat it every day. Just eating this clean and taking in all the extra minerals from the springs daily just makes you feel amazing. It's no wonder people have been using the springs for therapy for hundreds of years. As a guest you have an abundance of activities and things to do. I highly reccomend the farm tour, the archery and the hiking is wonderful. Also the history tour and the documentary are worth seeing cause there is so much to learn about this special place. As an Arizona native and a valley resident I can't believe I didn't know this place existed just a couple years ago.

Absolute best retreat! Beautiful resort, amazing amenities, delicious meals, wonderful staff, so refreshing and relaxing.

I was scouting, so I only saw the road up and the donkeys. After the lake it's all dirt road, so you'll need to plan accordingly, and go slow, the cute little donkeys like to play on the road. If you're looking to get away from civilization, you can't do better IMHO

Castle Rock Hot Springs is absolutely beautiful and incredibly peaceful. The setting is stunning, the pools are well-maintained, and the entire experience feels serene and luxurious a perfect place to relax and unwind. That said, it is very expensive, so it’s definitely more of a special-occasion experience rather than something you’d do regularly. If you’re prepared for the price, the atmosphere and natural beauty make it a memorable visit.

Stayed for 3 nights with my wife. Everything and everyone was top tier. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, 5 star dining for every meal, tons of activities, outstanding spa and wellness services, and the hot springs which are the crown jewel.

A one of a kind experience that exceeded our lofty expectations. The food, service, and accommodations are truly exceptional and the scenery and hot springs made this one of the best vacations ever.

Well, Mike Watts and his incredible team ruined all other hotels for me. This place is paradise, truly. I booked my next stay before I left the last one — incredible all around. Whitney, Ryan, Raina, Alexus, Cody, Bevin, Sarah, Roy, Alex, other Alex, Robert, everyone there just incredible and top of their game. Don’t think twice, book.

This was our first time at this resort. It went beyond any expectation I had. From our first greeting at the front desk to the tour on the golf cart given by Gage, who was so polite, friendly and informative and our GC pickup from Alex at the hot springs. Our breakfaster server Andray, lunch servers Lori and Istvan, and our dinner team of Alec, Dominic, Stacie and Mel....every single one of them made our experience the best I've ever had. And it wasn't something they did "extra", it's just how they treat everyone who comes into contact with them. It's the mindset of everyone who works there. That is what makes this place so special. The chef's food that was prepared every day was just amazing, clever and so, so fresh, the evening turndowns and small gifts they leave behind, the beautiful and majestic mountains surrounding you, our fun UTV guide Scott, everyone at the activities desk. They even have S'mores for you and fires to roast them on. Flashlights so you can find your way in the dark, they have thought of everything. If you are looking for a place to rest, relax, recharge and experience exceptional service, this is the place for you. We WILL be back! - Anthony & Stacie DeRosa

We had such a wonderful time. The location is stunning and all staff is absolutely top notch. On the second day we already started thinking about when we could come back! Hats off.

I figure if folks who never stayed here can write a negative review, I can write a positive one. For those complaining they can't enter the property to look around....imagine yourself spending $1200 - $1500 / night to stay at a beautiful resort in the middle of nowhere, hoping for a peaceful retreat. Now imagine a bunch of folks meandering around the property simply to take a look. So much for your relaxing private retreat. Locals or not...if you want to take a look, look at the photos online. If you like what you see, pay to stay ! In the mean time, try not to be jealous of the folks who dish out the cash for a great experience. Not everyone can afford a Rolls Royce. That's life. For the record, sadly, I'm one of those people who can't afford to stay here but I respect the privacy of those who can. I also commend the property owners for maintaining the privacy of their clients. That is what they pay for. It's a beautiful property that took a lot of planning and hard work. I commend them for that as well.

There is no way I can summarize my 3 nights here in this little box. The other 5 star reviews capture most of it. I booked this trip with my daughter as a retirement treat to myself and loved EVERY minute....including the 7 mile dirt road in a rented Jeep Wrangler. We got to see a family of burros up close and personal! Staff all A+. Enjoyed getting to learn about them. Food A+. All clean and fresh and top notch. Activities A+, both included and additional cost. Grounds A+. Well kept, and stunningly beautiful at night with all the backlighting in the shrubs/trees. Not one detail was left unattended nor need unmet during our stay. I was wished a happy retirement during many interactions. I will be back. This time with my other 2 daughters. It's a splurge trip for sure but money I will happily spend again.

Love CHP!!!|We went with our 2 adult children and their spouses. We stayed in the cottage and was great for after dinner comradery. We live in disparate locations so it gave us great bonding time. Note that there are only 2 bathrooms so might be an issue for your group. We loved that they stocked it with wine, beer, sparkling water and snacks. ||Swam laps in the mineral water pool most days and luxuriated in the hot springs. My family all oved that there were 3 different temp spring pools and went for hours each day. We also took the exciting e-bike trip and Agave tasting - both worth the extra fee. Equally good were the daily guided hikes, archery, farm tour and mindfulness activities which are all included in your room rate. ||I cannot stop raving about the staff at all of the activities and in the dining room. Each person was so lovely, calm and kind. Even saying hello as they pass you walking throughout the resort. The staff as a group was amongst the friendliest we have ever come across in our travels and we usually stay at five star resorts and hotels.||The icing on the cake is the food. At the included breakfast, lunch and dinner the food was always fresh and delicious. The chef tries to utilize their farm ingredients as much as possible. Staff is very concerned about dietary restrictions and aversions. There are varied items on the menu and our group of 6 never had trouble finding a few options at every meal. The pastry items and soups were a nightly hit but we all really enjoyed the entrees as well. The Allium and Prosciutto pizza was memorable as were the ice cream sandwiches, burger and chicken sandwiches at lunch. I loved the seared tuna salad so much I ordered it two days in a row. Breakfast sandwiches became the popular family order in the morning.||On Tripadvisor you do not know the reviewers past experiences and whether their comments reflect a first time lux experience or not. Let me say that I am a regular Auberge hotel client and the dining experience is very comparable except at CHS the food is included. Having stayed last year at Blackberry Farms, we feel that CHS is the clear winner as it includes so many fun experiences in the room rate and a similar dining experience. The rooms at CHS are very nice as well.

When I travel, I prefer not to visit the same place more than once...my visit to Castle Hot Springs last week has changed that and I will be back again! As a solo female traveler, I felt comfortable and safe, as well as challenged to explore and try new things. The resort is very clear about the road that takes you to the property so I rented a small SUV and made the drive just fine, even after quite a bit of rain. I am glad I chose a Spring Bungalow as they were close to the main areas of the resort and the hot springs. Everything was TOP NOTCH: farm-to-table food, unique cocktails, accommodations were stocked with everything you could possibly need, great spa treatments and wellness activities and a beautiful landscape to explore. Most of all the staff - every single person was friendly and approachable (many times not the same at other places) and the service was more than I could have expected. I am already looking forward to making this my Fall retreat again next year!

What an absolutely stunning location, from the staff to the food to the daily activities, everything exceeded expectations. Ryan was a phenomenal Via Ferrata guide and organizer of all of our daily activities, Brett guided us through all of the sights at 40mph and cocktails by Aaron every night were transcendent. What a place. The food was inspired and unique every night. Oh, the hot springs were pretty fantastic too ;)

I feel so refreshed after our vist to CHS. Such great care and love went into curating this amazing place. Feel so lucky to of experienced the relaxtion and beauty of Castle Hot Springs. Fun to explore the beautiful grounds. Ross was an amazing guide for the utv tour and saw beautiful trails and mountains on those. Food was so fresh and delicious. I will visit again as soon as possible.

The word “Oasis” could easily has been created to describe Castle Hot Springs. I discovered this resort by chance and chose it as a unique spot to celebrate our anniversary. Expectations were modest at first, especially after navigating more than seven miles of unpaved road to get there, but any doubts quickly faded upon arrival. A palm-lined driveway led us to the welcoming lobby, where we were greeted with chilled floral tea and genuine hospitality. From the very beginning, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance of grandeur and warmth: magnificent, yet unpretentious and inviting. The natural hot springs were deeply restorative, while the farm-to-table dining exceeded expectations. The onsite farm flourishes with seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices, all of which elevate the dining experience. Activities are abundant, including golf, yoga, biking, hiking, pickleball, archery, horseback riding, swimming, and even wine and mezcal tastings. Castle Hot Springs proved to be an extraordinary retreat; one that combines relaxation, adventure, and exceptional service. We left with plans to return in the winter. Highly recommended.

Best anniversary trip imaginable!! Where do I begin!? We knew it would be great, but everything about this place exceeded our expectations somehow! Everyone who works there was so kind and pleasant. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome. We kept saying that it felt more like we were staying at a friend/family members place, than guests at a hotel. They made us feel that at home. The rooms were clean and always made up nice, they had everything we could have needed and more! Every night there was a gift waiting on our bed. Speaking of the beds, they were so comfortable! The resort is quiet and calm, with such a relaxed feel. Yet there is so much to do! We enjoyed getting up each morning to hike, and had a great time doing the via ferrata! What an awesome new experience. Everything we ate was delicious. And the servers/kitchen always blew us away as they were able to meet our every request! Anything we wanted, they made happen. I have never been so impressed. When I left, I was sad of course to be leaving, but I was so content, I couldn’t think of a single other thing that I could need. It was truly a perfect stay. Brady, Aaron, Mason, Tasha, Ryan and Caroline, and Sarah F. All get special mention as they made our stay that much better but I know there are many working behind the scenes to make this place seem like heaven on earth! We had a blast chatting wine with the Somms each night at dinner. Sarah and Zap are so knowledgeable and made the tastings so much fun. I hope we can return soon. Thanks Castle!

Yeah. Sooo... Best place we've ever been. Crazy to say this, because Amalfi coast, Barcelona, Cabo and many other places would be in the running. First the food! Farm to table. So fresh. 5 course meal every night. Whatever you need to do to keep Melqui (the chef) just make sure you do that. We're coming back and the food was the highlight. But also it just felt so serene. It was 80% capacity and it just felt like we had the place to ourselves. The room was amazing. Service was impeccable...professional and friendly. Massages were top notch. The drive in is definitely bumpy (recommend large SUV or truck with larger tires), but that kinda added to the mystique of the place. Like we're on fantasy island desert oasis edition. Definitely want to do more of the activities next time. We did the scrub creations with Greg and I felt my wife pulled me there, but I really enjoyed that too! We took a big hike, too far, to agave farm and fortunately found a ride back from Ryan (?) and Roxy and it's like we got a tour guide. Love the history of the place... good enough for Rockefellers and JFK, good enough for me! I'm rambling. But finally, I took the lead on booking this trip for our 10 year anniversary... and I came out like a hero. So thank you!

It’s hard to put into words how amazing Castle Hot Springs (CHS) is. First - the property - its immaculate, the hot springs are beautiful and easy to access (they’ll even drive you up to them whenever you want), the trails are well maintained and safe and the spring bungalow we stayed in was spacious and had every amenity we could have asked for (and some we never even knew we wanted - like a Toto toilet!). Second - the service - the staff at CHS go above and beyond what I ever could have expected even at a luxury resort. I wish we could remember all of their names but every guide we encountered ( including Mathew, Ross, Caroline, Amanda and Ryan) took such care with every activity and were extremely knowledgeable. The waiters and bartenders were so efficient and personable, each knew the allergies for our party and automatically adjusted dishes as needed. And every other staff member we encountered - including every valet, front desk person, farmer, housekeeper and groundskeeper was so friendly and so meticulous with every task they did. Even at turndown service they leave you a unique gift in the room every night (so thoughtful!). Next - the food - so fresh and thoughtfully planned. We especially loved the breakfast options (full and quick serve) and the non stop snacks available throughout the day. Make sure you pick up your s’mores kit from the bar and take the farm tour for lots of tasty treats! Finally, some miscellaneous comments - (1) the road driving in is not that bad, just go sub 20 mph and you’ll be fine; (2) be sure to make your schedule ahead of time so you can take advantage of all of the activities offered; and (3) some of the dinner options are very “elevated” but they will customize anything! We can’t wait to come back to CHS!

(Sorry this is a long one!!) We came here to celebrate spending 10 years together and got engaged on this trip, it was INCREDIBLE. The setting was gorgeous and idyllic- no pictures I have seen are able to do it justice. We genuinely walked around all week feeling like we were in a dream. This place has a great balance of wellness, adventure, great food, and relaxation. A huge bonus is they keep the guest count low so you will have many moments where it feels like you have the whole place to yourself even if they are at full capacity. I think this also makes a difference in the stress levels of the employees- or they are just really good at pretending lol. I am sure they are extremely busy and putting out fires behind the scenes but when interacting with everyone it never feels like anyone is rushed which adds to the complete relaxation. Every staff member is talented, kind, knowledgeable and seems very genuine. Multiple staff members went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We had a fantastic time with Aaron at the mixology class and stayed behind for some “office hours”. He chatted with us at the bar and even went out of his way to make us personalized certificates to commemorate our time there! Aaron was funny and personable and helped make our stay so memorable. On the first night I panicked a bit when I realized I forgot my setting powder, I went to ask the front desk if they sold make up at the boutique on property but sadly they didn’t. Emma at the front desk immediately offered to pick me up some while she was in town on her day off the next day. I was so relieved and truly touched by the generosity we were shown. These are only a few examples of all of the fantastic service we received. Every staff member from the restaurant to the hiking and adventure guides were warm and available without being imposing. On top of all of this the food was unbelievable- fresh, flavorful, and very thoughtful. I appreciated that the breakfast and lunch menus were able to rival the dinners in taste and presentation. As many other reviews here say, it is expensive, and trust me when I say we are not people who can come here on a whim, but I left feeling like I got even more than what I paid for. I know many people can relate to the feeling that in recent years almost everything has gone down in quality while going up in price, I feel lucky to have found the exception. I can’t say enough good things about this place and we are already planning when we can justify coming back! Thank you Castle Hot Springs!!!

My wife and I had a fantastic time at the resort. Everything there is first class and the food is to die for. 10/10 would recommend to everyone to stay and experience what they have to offer. The only downside to this place is the dirt road drive to get there. Its very bumpy but the slow drive allows you to be on the lookout for the wild Burros that seem to be everywhere along the way.

I loved the serenity of the entire place. I swear I never saw very many people. I soaked in the hot springs all alone, for an hour. Like un heard of. That, was the best part. Quiet, beautiful, birds, animals, seclusion. But....the food. Menu selection was very limited. If they had a pizza, it's not a pizza I'd eat. Who serves pizza without marinara. The chef caters to his own, kind of European like. I'm in the desert of Arizona, I'd like Mexican food, that tastes like Mexican food. He offered a tomato bisque w a grilled cheese.....in May....it's not something one eats in the summer. That's a ski lodge food. There were a lot of people there that thoroughly enjoyed the food, I personally did not. It was like I was at fat camp. The type of food is not advertised. They talk about garden grown eats, but they never mention that was all they offered. They made it sound like food was everything. It was not, sorry. The people who work there were all perfect. Sevice was perfect. The activities were fun too. Had lots of stuff to do. Or, sit at the pool, it's very nice. The rooms are great, the comfort was spot on. I loved the mountains surrounding the place too. Hiking was great, and again, you never see anyone. For me, that's perfect. I hope they add more food selection, and maybe step up the background music at dinner. Sorry, but jazz is so boring. Might as well played Bach.

Rarely does a resort hotel live up to one's expectation as being exceptional for the lodging, food, service and activities. This place does and is the only resort that I would stay at again in a heartbeat. Is it expensive? Yes it is. Is this resort a better value with higher quality food, lodging, activities and service than high end cruise ships? Unquestionably so. For adults looking for a memorable break from the daily grind this is the happiest place on Earth.

Beautiful, peaceful, and restoring. My wife and I had a wonderful 20th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, The hot springs were amazing. Chef was kind and let us into his kitchen and the whole staff was accommodating and friendly. 100% recommend!

Where to begin....as soon as we landed (if you can swing the helicopter, it was awesome and so worth it, check out Western Sky in Scottsdale, a 20-minute Uber from Sky Harbor) on the property, the experience was top notch. We were greeted by super friendly and knowledgeable Daniel, who drove us to the Lodge for a check-in, who then showed around the property for a tour and showed us to Room 12. The room was amazing. Every detail that one could think of, and some you wouldn't, was included. The outdoor tub with water from the springs pumped in, to the perfect shower with window looking over the mountains, the comfy fireplace indoor and out, the outdoor peaceful sitting area overlooking Salvation Peak and the Greenhouse on property; it all was amazing. The yeti's provided in the room for our daily hikes were a perfect touch, as were the daily thoughtful treats with the turndown service, such as a logo'd puzzle, playing cards, and journals for the road. The bar staff of Russel, Isaiah, and Aaron made amazing, unique drinks using and often garnished with, herbs/plants from the garden right outside. I'm not much of a mocktail person, but even those drinks were delicious. Throw out a random classic cocktail to Michael at the bar, and he will return with one mixed better than you've ever had, with the perfect, just picked, fresh garnish in the best Nick and Nora glass. He and the others are also all-around good people, interesting to speak with, and clearly are passionate about their jobs and the resort. The wait staff were equally passionate and amazing to speak with. They clearly have sampled all the food, even the daily, ever changing 5-course dinner, and can tell you everything about the preparation, the ingredients, where they were sourced, etc. We had several wait staff and I wish we remembered them all by name, but Brady and the young lady with the Japanese cat tattoo were stand outs...they all were really, we just happened to spend the most time with those two. I am writing too much already, but the trails were so unique and fun. We are not regular mountain explorers living on the east coast, but the hikes we took through the Bradshaws to the agave farm, to Palm Grove and to Salvation Peak will be remembered for a long time. The burn in my thighs from our last day trekking up Salvation Peak I feel right now as I type this review will hopefully be forgotten about soon :). Ian the head farm dude (I know he has a better title than that) showed our Farm Tour group around the greenhouse, the farm next to the lodge, as well as the larger farm across the lawn. His passion for the farm and the farm-to-table concept of the resort is unparalleled. He also has a good amount of family history at the resort that is interesting as well. While I’m sure most meals at the resort are a team effort, the 3rd course if each dinner seemed to be especially a collaboration between Ian and his team and the executive chef. It was always delicious and unique and just wow. The food was as amazing on the taste buds as it was on the eyes - every meal, every course, start to finish. Then there were the springs...oh the springs. What more can be said about them that have not already been written? Words cannot describe soaking in them at night under a clear sky with more stars in sight than you could ever count. I can go on and on, but I think this is enough, you get it. Just come out here and experience it for yourself.

10/10 recommend this stay!!! we went back in april. Horseback riding with Alex was definitely our #1 highlight!! also recommend the farm tour!! it is amazing to see someone so passionate about plants! check out the boutique and grab some seeds of your own to take a piece of castle home with you!!!

Beautiful property. Really enjoyed the hot springs, the delicious (health-ish) food, and all the fun, unique activities. My husband said he had one of the best massages ever. It’s nice that everything is included (aside from some of the specialized activities). The service is truly stellar and everyone that works here clearly loves their job and takes pride in the resort. However, I doubt we would ever come back because it’s a little too far away from everything and you never leave the resort. This means you keep eating in the same place day after day and seeing the same few people again and again… I guess if you lived in the Phoenix area and wanted to escape to a lush, quiet resort it’s a good, local option for frequent visits. But it’s too out of the way with little upside for us to return.

5 stars for rooms, service and location. Yes, and location. The location especially. This is a magical place of wellness and healing. 30 minutes in the hot spring and you'll feel sedated and spiritually lifted. We live in AZ so no airfare made the total vacation price about the same as we'd otherwise do. Our activities: hike to agave / chicken farm (only 3 mi rt, but steep up/down at times), hot springs multiple times, soaks in our private cabana outdoor tub, farm tour (highly recommend doing early so you see the garden in your food). It’s very romantic: great way to connect. It’s tranquil, kinda magical, we feel at peace here. Gourmet meals, all wonderful - this is true farm to table - they grow all their veggies and herbs and source meat locally where they can - the tastes of "harvested today" are amazing. The entire staff is super nice and helpful and happy. Happy staff is key - you can tell they enjoy their job: everyone from servers to landscapers to farmers, they all have a smile and talk about how great their job is.
