Love the campground location and large clean sites. Love the burros. Not crazy about the New Years shotgun and firecracker noise freaking out the dog for two days full days.

Great place, but you must come prepare!, views are not the best, but it's a place away from the masses that's a plus, in my opinion.

Fabulous state park! We stargazed, caught fish, dogs swam, jeeped OHV trails and saw burros. We'll go back for sure!

This secret gem was awesome. Beautiful scenery, walking trails, lookout points, slot canyon to visit, fishing, etc. We stayed in Lot C. Very quiet, hookups if needed, clean public bathroom and showers near by. Friendly neighbors from other areas. We'll definitely be back!

Campground C was well kept and nice pads to park on. Remote but beautiful scenery.

We've been camping at Alamo Lake for my husband's birthday for the past few years and love it. I am not a huge fan of desert camping but this is a great winter camping spot with a beautiful lake that is great for kayaking and fishing.

Alamo lake is a very desolate lake, it is 43 miles from the nearest town. Get everything you need before heading out there. The ranger station or pay station has some items for fishing or a few essentials but very limited. There is a bar/restaurant called Wayside, it’s a small Rv park with this bar. Lots of people come here with their side by sides. Tons of trails out here for that. We ate lunch there and grabbed a t shirt. The food was decent. They have a few essentials as well. The campground itself is clean and neat. It is out dated and could use a make over. This is not a place to come with your Rv and hang out at your site. This is a fisherman’s paradise, it’s claim is that they have the best bass fishing in the state. We seen many anglers and they were catching fish. They have a nice fish cleaning set up there and it was being used quite a bit. Our spot had a picnic table at it and it was kind of blah. Up top to the north camp loop had some good spots with lots of views of the lake. These spots were as well not that impressive. I think they only had power and electric, you would have to dump at the dump station for sewer. They do have a few cabins you could rent to the west camp ground loop. They looked nice as well. At our spot we did have full hook ups with sewer. We were space 16 I believe. The concrete pad was not level and I needed 3 wheel blocks per wheel (6 leveling blocks)on one side to level out. We kayaked and had easy assess to the water. It was a great time on the water kayaking. The wind did pick up and we fought that a bit but the lake itself is beautiful with the mountains all around. We drove up to the dam and sat up top and to get a good view. There are some history boards there that gave a history of the lake. There are donkeys all over the place. The most donkeys I have ever seen at a AZ lake! Beware when driving in to the lake. The night sky will knock your socks off with all the stars. I cannot remember when we seen so many stars! Millions of them!!! The sky was so dark and there are so many stars you honestly can get lost looking up with amazement. Glad we came here but probably would not go back unless I wanted to fish and see the stars. If that is your thing then this is the place to go. Tons of fisher men. The guys next to us were canoeing to the east side of the lake for duck hunting as well. They said there were some good spots up there…

This is the nicest park we've been to in arizona! The area is pristine! They have the nicest showers and bathrooms you will find anywhere. The lake is gorgeous and the campsites are better than any you'll visit!

Very nice well maintained park that has everything from full hookups to tent camping. Not a lot to do if you’re not fishing and unfortunately they no longer rent boats. Very quiet except for the OHV’s that are now taking over, even at the full service side of the park. They used to be mostly on the boondock locations off site. Nice bar/restaurant called the Wander-in on the South East part of the lake. Had really good food for lunch.

Loved it! Great location, huge parking spots, donkeys everywhere, huge fish, great fishing, general store, park rangers are nice, lots of wildlife, clean place, water was nice. Watch out for cows and burros on the way up!

Wow another Oasis in the middle of the desert. Great getaway whether you have an RV or tent camping great fishing, boat ramps, RV hookups on some sites. There is a fee for the RV sites and camping sites.

Recently camped here in a tent for the lunar eclipse. Spot E44 can’t be beat with views, easy access to the shore and space! It was so nice not to be on top of the other campers. The site was clean. The portapotties were not. I had the lake virtually to myself in the late afternoon for a peaceful kayak ride. Lots of birds/water fowl to listen to and behold. The lake is vast and beautiful surrounded by mountains. Not much hiking and no shade of any kind. The wild burrows are so cool to listen to all night. I really enjoyed my stay.

We got in late Friday night and it was a little hard to find the spot, numbers painted on the parking spot. Our spot was gorgeous thought, E44 overlooking the lake. Facilities were clean and the rangers were all so nice! The ranger store had everything you needed in case you forgot and also had souvenirs which is always fun. Easy walk to the lake and the water was the perfect escape from the heat. Heard the burros but never saw one which was disappointing. Hopefully next time!

Remote, quiet, dark skies - great place for stargazing and astrophotography. We come up here month after month when the skies are darkest and the weather is clear, and it's almost always clear. Milky Way is so bright, and it's so far from Phoenix and Lake Havasu that there's almost zero light pollution. Great to hear the coyotes and burros at night too! Hidden gem!

It's a nice little lake, campsites are clean and spaced far enough to where nobody's on top of each other, some campsites have clean bathrooms and showers other sites have port-a-johns, park rangers were nice, respectful and informative, all and all I'd go back again. [Oh and bring your own shade of some sort, you'll be thankful you did]

I parked here A little tricky to find the day use area at first but the ranger station was very helpful and provided a map which made it super easy to get to. We turned on Cholla and followed the road to the end and found a great day use area. However It's rough getting to the lake lots of drop off steep hills rocks and sand all down hill and of course going back up was more exhausting but we'll worth the drive and I will definitely be coming back to say over night next time. The prices are not too much either

Beautiful surroundings. It was quite and pretty empty but we are out of camping season so that was expected. Very fair night pricing if you choose to have water and electric hookups. We will go back again this summer and try some dry camping. Great for fishing, camping or just hanging with good friends!

This was an amazing find. Great camping spots with full bathrooms and water and electric hookups. Great kayaking with very little boat traffic. The sunsets were gorgeous and the lake was like glass in the morning. Great place for bird enthusiasts as well. We saw grebes, ducks, red-winged blackbirds, red-tailed hawks and lots of great blue herons! There were also quite a few wild donkey herds with some very adorable babies. ❤

Wow the views are beautiful! Nice lake. No shade anywhere on the lake. The inlets were great to paddleboard. I saw a bald eagle and lots of burros. So cool.

Visited in November for a Thanksgiving camping trip. Area is very popular with very little amenities so don’t forget essentials. Beautiful remote area with plenty of vast sky and desert scenery. Never saw burrows but heard them at night. Did not try fishing but will next time. Watch for scorpions, we found 2 at our site but that’s what you get when you play in the desert.

Great place to take the family for a camping trip. Very kid friendly. Great staff/park rangers. Good fishing, a lot better if you have a boat.

Plenty to see and do. The night sky is just the best! First night we had clear starry skies, and then second night was a storm, got treated to a stunning light show. Lots of birds and burros, saw a fox and coyote too. We stayed in a cabin, it was clean, comfortable, spacious and the bathrooms were clean. Luv this park.

For a few years now I have wanted to take my girls camping. This Thanksgiving we had our chance. We traveled 5.5 hours from California to Alamo Lake State Park. Along the two lane road that brings you to the park we saw a cow crossing the road and what we think are donkeys or mules. Upon arriving at the store/office we were greeted warmly by the park ranger. He was extremely nice and helpful as we were just a little confused about what to do. The park was clean. Restrooms and showers were well kept. Everyone we came across was friendly. My girls had a great time hiking to junk yard. The trails were great. I would rate them as moderate or even difficult, beginners may find it a little challenging. Throughout the night we heard coyotes but thankfully didn’t see any. The lake was nice but we had no luck fishing. This is a great place for family and friends to get together and take a break from city life.

Plenty of camping space within the park itself. It is more beneficial to take a couple weekdays and leave Saturday. The crowds begin to show up Friday late afternoon to the evening. Prepare to be up all night listening to everyone's top 10 Playlist. The best part of this area is, 1. The fishing 2. The hiking 3. The boating 4. The easy access to all the OHV areas 5. The small store with lots of Ice If you feel adventurous, you can take the back roads to the BLM areas down by the shores. There were many Camp trailers, toy haulers and such parked near the water.

Well taken care of, quiet place, friendly staff, lots of camping spots. Lots of ATV trails with wildlife everywhere, very clean bathrooms and showers, great fish cleaning stations. We come 2 or 3 times during the winter while we are in Bullhead City for the winter, great get away.

It is not too far away from Phoenix. We go there for fishing for catfish, along with a few other species. We camp there, and the biggest thing for me is that they have clean bathrooms and showers. The rangers there are supper friendly and helpful. You can find many places to fish from the bank. It is never too crowded. But I have not been on a holiday weekend.
