Hannagan Meadow Lodge is a rare find—classic, unpretentious, and exactly what a high-country lodge should be. From the moment I checked in, the atmosphere felt timeless and welcoming, like stepping into a place that values comfort and authenticity over trends. What truly sets this lodge apart is the service. The same woman who checked me in also cooked both dinner and breakfast, and that personal touch made the experience feel genuine rather than transactional. It’s the kind of hospitality you don’t see much anymore, and it shows how much pride goes into the place. Dinner was an exceptional value. The salad bar was fresh and well-stocked, and the homemade chicken noodle soup was outstanding—simple, hearty, and clearly made from scratch. It felt like a meal prepared for guests, not customers. If you’re looking for polished luxury, this isn’t that—and that’s exactly the point. Hannagan Meadow Lodge delivers classic atmosphere, honest comfort, and real hospitality. I’d gladly stay here again.

We stayed in a lodge room and in a cabin during our stay of 7 days for a hunt. The lodge room was very comfortable with 2 beds. The cabin was a 2 bedroom, with a nice kitchen, and a cozy space with a fireplace and a pellet stove. It had snowed so it was colder at this elevation. We ate two dinners in the lodge. The menu was limited at this time of year. The dining room is very nice. The service was great and they were very accommodating about anything we asked about. We hope to return again.

Stayed in ‘Riley’ cabin for late season elk hunt (November). I cannot speak highly enough of the kindness of everyone at the lodge. The accommodations were wonderful. The meals are delicious and very reasonably priced. Special thanks to Charlene for her incredible hospitality. True small town charm. Hannagan Meadow Lodge is a truly special place.

This is a 100 year old lodge with cabins located in the middle of a national forest south of Alpine AZ. It is not a luxury hotel and that is the beauty of Hannagan Meadow Lodge. The cabins are not primitive but they are basic; they are clean and functional and they are OLD. WiFi was limited while we were there, but apparently that will be updated in the next few weeks. Anyway - if you want modern fancy, go somewhere else.||Warning: If you go in cooler weather and need the pellet stove on, the fan noise is quite loud. Otherwise, the only sounds are the occasional (few times a day) vehicle out on the pavement, the wind in the trees, and the wildlife. Wonderful!||I stayed with a friend for three nights. We ate in the restaurant in the lodge rather than prepare meals, even though there was a perfectly good kitchen in our cabin. The service was perfect, and accommodated our every wish. We were even given carrots to feed the horses.||NOTE: 9000' altitude might be a problem for some people.||I loved every minute of it of our stay and can't wait to return to Hannigan Meadow Lodge again.

We booked a family get-together, arriving from all parts of Arizona and New Jersey. We planned to have a quiet, rustic, long-weekend, and got exactly that. We separated from our busy lives to a laid-back environment and LOVED it. We loved the weather, autumn colors, the cabin dog, the fire pit with s’mores, and beautiful drives & walks. Our plan is to return often!

A classic rustic lodge, 22 miles south of Alpine. Rooms are old but comfortable. Food in the restaurant was great. Few different selections each night. Great hiking nearby. Surrounded by National Forest.

If solitude, quiet, and a slow pace of life is what you seek, this place is perfect. The cabins are rustic, the setting is beautiful, and the outdoor recreation opportunities are endless. Also, the resident dog that wanders the property is the sweetest thing alive. Go for the scenery, stay for the dog.

This is more than a year overdue, but I was recently thinking of the night I spent at Hannagan Meadow Lodge in July 2024. I stayed for one night in the Babbitt Room, named after Arizona Governor Bruce Babbitt. He stated when visiting Hannagan Meadow that it was "the most beautiful place in the state." While this is a very cliche and overused phrase, it rings true in Hannagan Meadow. It's hard to capture in words but the meadow and surrounding pine forests make this place one of the most visually stunning and magical places I've ever visited. I'm from Tucson and it very much feels like a hidden gem. Almost everyone I've talked to has never even heard of it. Hannagan Meadow is for those of us curious to explore a little off the beaten path and discover some of the most magical places in the state.

When put into perspective that this is an historic site, we really appreciated what efforts must be made daily to provide the unique experience of Hannagan Meadows! Our room was clean, while providing necessities. We were made to feel welcome and valued by all. Very nice.

Lodge is very quaint and friendly. I arrived on a motorcycle in the pouring rain. The wood fire was nice and warm and perfect. The hospitality was great and met some very nice guests. The room was a single that is small but was very clean and comfortable. It was all I needed. I would highly recommend staying here if you are planning on riding on the 191.

We called to make sure they are open and were assured that the drive from Greer would be worth it as they serve food all day. Of course we get there and they’re closed (mid afternoon on a Friday). This type of behavior is common in this part of Arizona and this is why we call ahead. I just don’t understand why a business would lie like this to potential customers. Very sad and disappointing. Beautiful drive tho.

We had a great experience during our overnight stay. There were 14 in our group and everyone had a good time and felt appreciated. The food in the restaurant was excellent for dinner and breakfast. Charlene was our waitress, she is a very kind and caring person. Our cabin was very nice and very clean. We will recommend Hannagan MeadowLodge.

We go to Hannigan several times a year and love everything about it! Food is great and the rooms are fantastic for the age of the place. Charlene and the other staff are incredible! I feel that they are a little short handed. But the staff work there butt's off to make your visit outstanding. I can't say enough about the place!! Thank you so much! Just a note that I have been going to Hannigan Meadows for over 60 years and always loved it.

We've been staying in the cabins once or twice a year in past ten years. We really like it there because it's isolated and peaceful with full of nature. Some visitors may feel less convenient and not enjoyable compared to other popular tourist areas. We actually enjoy staying in these cabins with no tv or WiFi like good old days.

RESTAURANT: After a long drive, we decided to eat lunch inside Hannagan Meadow Lodge, and for it being in the middle of nowhere, IT WAS AMAZING. The property was absolutely peaceful and beautiful. The food was extremely good, service was really slow, but it makes sense because of where it’s at. I’d definitely recommend eating at this little hidden gem! Fresh food, great vibes!

Had a wonderful experience here. Cabin was spotless upon arrival. Very warm and cozy. Restaurant was clean, we went on the first day and it was the chefs day off but the owner was more than accommodating with feeding us. Location is out of the way but that's the point of a cabin in the woods. The grandkids loved the horses and were more than happy to give love to the resident dog Riker. The views in the area were breathtaking.

This was our second trip to The Lodge in 3 years. The last time was in the winter and we rented snowmobiles. Both trips were fantastic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As a matter of fact, the owner, Larry was there both times. He’s a fellow Phoenician and a great guy. Hannagan Meadow Lodge is a rustic property with good food and excellent service. We’ll be booking another trip soon.

Pleasant stay on the edge of Somewhere close to Nowhere. Which is exactly the point. Very quiet area. Almost no road traffic. Cabin and grounds were nice. I highly recommend a visit to the area because there are few places left like this. Restaurant meals were great as well.

This place is a gem! It’s about 20 miles south of Alpine on the Coronado Trail (route 191/666). I’ve been past it multiple times when motorcycling the Coronado Trail. This time I stopped for a quick overnight. The setting, across from Hannagan’s meadow is stunning, and the rustic feel of the lodge is fantastic! It’s not fancy, but that’s not what I look for when I am in a remote location like this. The room was cozy and comfortable, clean, and everything worked. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced, given there is not another place within 20 miles. The staff was wonderful! Even though they were short handed, they still took time to engage in long conversations with me about the lodge, life, the universe, and everything! Treat yourself to a real getaway and stay here!

First time staying at the lodge. Have passed by many times but never dropped in as we were usually camping in the area. Decided to give it a try. Stayed in the lodge rather than the cabins which they also have. Entire property is very nice and well kept. The rooms inside the lodge are small but nicely appointed and well maintained. Had dinner and breakfast in their restaurant and everything was good. This is a great place to enjoy all that the white mountains of Arizona have to offer. Recommended.

First of all, I love the place, it’s quiet. It’s well run. There’s not a lot of things around that would be the only thing. The staff is friendly and nice. I stayed in the lodge in a small room. It was perfect no television, but that’s fine for me. I go there because of fishing so there’s quite a few locations around and I love the serenity of the place and the wildlife is spectacular. I’ve been there in April and also in the middle of summer and early fall and all is great. I wouldn’t consider myself an avid outdoorsman, but I am about middle of the road.

We had a wonderful time when we went in the winter! We left from Tucson on a long ride to the lodge! The road over was smooth with nice views but was very winding. When we arrived at the lodge it was night out (~7:00). We entered the main lodge and signed in. Everyone else was waiting for dinner in the main lodge. We waited about 30m until they were ready. We were seated and then they took our orders. There was a salad bar too. Theres only 2 people cooking and ordering. When the food arrived it looked like a regular meal but when I took a bite it was some of the best food i’ve ever had hands down. The lodge was very cozy but roomy enough for my family. It had a full kitchen multiple heaters and 2 1/2 bathrooms. There was electricity. When I was getting ready to sleep (~11:00) there was a noise outside that sounded like a horse’s snort and sure enough there were 2 just standing outside our lodge. I tried to go back to bed but 1 of them was just staring at me through the window for nearly 30m which was pretty hilarious. Btw theres only wifi in the main lodge which stays open all night and a couple of the other 1s. Tldr: Long road, 10/10 food, Some wifi, electricity, very nice lodging, super nice staff Would definitely recommend going

My friends and I stayed at the Lodge on the last day of March 2025. The rooms are small, but clean and well appointed. The people at the lodge made us feel like family. Even Riker, the friendly lodge dog was a delight. Summer rates are double what we paid, so the whole experience was a bargain.

We had The misfortune of only getting to spend one night at hannigan meadow Lodge. I wish we could have stayed more. Although not the fanciest are most-up-to-date hotel. It was wonderfully unique and the staff were amazing. The meatloaf dinner was absolutely scrumptious. The breakfast the next morning what's the perfect thing to start our day. We will be back!

Well worth the stay. This close to 100 year old lodge is beautiful. The staff was great, Kathy's friendly personality made the stay comfortable. We had lunch that was reasonably priced and well prepared. Hope to stay there again!

Our stay was delightful, once again. We had our 2 dogs with us this time so we had a cabin, which was roomy and nicely equipped. The view from the deck was lovely, we even had a rainbow! We went over to dine on the Lodge's lovely deck, but unfortunately the rain was fast approaching. The staff was so sweet, they took our order and brought our dinners over to our cabin during a lull in the rain! By the time dinner arrived my hubby got a fire roaring in the fireplace. It was perfect. By morning we had a chance to breakfast on the deck. DELICIOUS!

Well, booked almost the entire lodge for a birthday group. Reservations were easily done online. Then a few questions arose in regards to bringing dogs. The people here were very helpful to solve this problem with us and in the end we could bring 2 of our 4 legged family members! The staff was extremely helpful and very accommodating towards our wishes. Dinner was fantastic! We even got some self made vanilla ice cream with the birthday cake! Kudos to that! Rooms and cabins were clean and cozy. Overall it was a very fun and pleasant experience and I'm sure some of us will be back for more! And who could resist this location in the middle of the woods? A place that radiates history, and is run with love by helpful and inviting people! Many thanks, folks!
