My daughter is a student at Montevallo and her car battery was so dead that the car could not be jump started with a pair of jumper cables. We are 250 miles away and weren’t in a position to help. One call to Moore Brothers Automotive and a technician was in route to campus, was able to use a jump box to start the vehicle, drove it to the shop, tested the battery, confirmed it was bad, installed a replacement battery and delivered it back to my daughters dorm in under an hour. We couldn’t be any more pleased with the level of service!!
They took care of my daughter’s car quickly. They were honest and transparent and a pleasure to deal with. My daughter attends the University of Montevallo and we live 4 hours away. They took excellent care of her car and clearly communicated to us what was going on. Highly recommend!!!!
This place is an absolute joke. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!
I brought my car in to get the A/C fixed and they somehow managed to make it worse. Now, instead of just being hot, it only blows air through the defrost vents and nowhere else. It’s completely useless, and I have a baby. My wife and child can’t sit in a car like this, it’s dangerous and uncomfortable. They couldn’t even fix what they were supposed to in the first place.
They also tried to charge me WAY more than what they quoted me over the phone. What a scam. When I called them out on it, they acted like I was crazy and it was some mistake on my end.
They had my car for 3 extra days trying to figure out what went wrong, only to admit they had no idea how to fix their mess. And then, they tried to gaslight me into believing the A/C was already broken when I dropped it off. Complete lie. I also specifically told them and made a written note of it when I dropped the car off that I DID NOT want used parts. I only wanted new. Well, I got a used part anyways and they tried to lie to me about it.
The owner is completely useless and didn’t even have the decency to address the issue and make it right. Joe at the front desk? Might as well have a cardboard cutout, because he clearly doesn’t know anything about cars or customer service. If I could leave 0 stars I would.
This shop is unprofessional, incompetent, and outright shady. If you want to get ripped off and have your car ruined, this is the place to go. Otherwise, STAY FAR AWAY.
I would give them a zero but then I cant leave a review. I have spent tons of money at this place over time the last experiences was horrible. These men are rude and cocky .I bought a brand new set of tires for my truck they did NOT change the stems and they all leaked and I had to pay another shop to change them. Then 200 miles into a warranty the belts inside the tires broke and caused chaos on the road. When I asked about the warranty I was told they would remove the tires, leaving me with no tires on the truck, and send the tires back to the company for an investigation and wait for the results and without my truck???? Wth is that? Avoid this place at all cost or you will be sorry.
Helped fix my daughter’s car horn. Diagnosed and fixed in less than 30 min. Reliable and friendly service. Highly recommend Moore Brothers! Nicest people there.
My daughter is a student at UM and needed her car checked. They were able to get her in and out in a timely manner and were very reasonably priced. Excellent auto repair shop. My car battery went dead Wednesday morning due to corrosion on the battery cables and a low battery. Also had other issues I wanted checked out. I carried it in at Roughly 9:00 am. The shop kept in contact with me throughout the process letting me know what was needed and it was finished by 2:00pm that day and would have probably been earlier if I hadn't asked for a couple of things to be checked out. The price was very reasonable for the work they did and the car is working fine now. I am new to Montevallo and I came to them based on a couple of recommendations I would highly recommend and will use them again for my car repair.

Have known these guys for years and they are very concerned with taking care of customers problems and maintaining their cars. Willing to explain repairs in detail and give multiple options when possible.
I am a private mechanic for several fleets. One of my past customers who moved to Alabama (still can't figure why!!) called me after having one of the trucks serviced here. I traveled to Alabama at his request to facilitate a proper repair and examine the damage on the truck. The mechanic who worked the ticket left multiple fastners loose and damaged the body of the truck by not using the proper lifting method and tools to raise the vehicle safely and without damage. A simple leaf spring replacement turned into $2800 of body damage to a vehicle. Worst thing about it, the mechanic KNEW he caused the damage and did not step up to the responsibility. I would suggest finding another shop to work on your car or truck. If you are stuck doing business here, take lots of pictures of your vehicle and do NOT leave until you inspect the work and vehicle for damage. They wont step up if they make a mistake and you will be stuck with the consequences.
Had my daughters Jeep Liberty Ac compressor replaced. Very satisfied with Moore Brothers Automotive. I am impressed with their honesty and integrity and I recommend them for all your auto repair needs.
When a customer tell you what a vehicle is doing don't you suppose to check things out? How can you find out what a problem is and you don't even drive the vehicle or check it? You can't drive a vehicle from there to Foodland to find out what the vehicle is doing. Then you want to say the reason why you didn't drive it far, because you didn't want your guy to get stranded. I didn't say drive it to Calera or Alabaster. That just gave me a bad vibe and it makes you wonder.
I always go for an oil change no problems in and out and if something needs replacing i am always told about it before hand. Needed new windshield wipers and got them on in no time and the cost was lower than me buying them myself.They are very friendly and will help with whatever you may need. I personally as a mechanic myself highly reccomend them.
I rarely post reviews...but needed to do so due to this experience. Brought my vehicle in due to a/c issues. I was quoted $729 to install a Compressor in my F-150...exhorbitant at best. Keep in mind...most compressors, new, for this vehicle...range from $138 - $256...with the $256 being a NEW Motorcraft (Ford) Compressor. Their price to me? $360. I know folks need to make a little off of things...not an issue...but...this wasn't for a NEW compressor for my vehicle...it was for a "Remanufactured" compressor! This was NOT on the quote...it was quoted as NEW. Essentially...quoted me a new one...installed a "rebuilt" / used part in my truck. The fun doesn't stop there. They said the vehicle would be done the next morning...nope. They "got the wrong compressor for your engine". And blamed it on my truck having a "morfodite engine". Come on. For anyone who knows anything...you provide the vehicle serial number for the part...and you get an exact match, every time. But...when installing used / remanufactured parts...not so much. No, they ordered the wrong part, period. Probably from a junk yard. Looking past the over pricing, I was then stuck having to spend $80 on a rental car because it was not done...because...after that...I was driven to the shop. Then was told that a "hose blew"...and thet now needed ANOTHER DAY to get the hose. AND CHARGED ME $89 for the hose THEY blew (after installing the new compressor.....) The "initial" diagnosis / test was "the pressure on the one side of the compressor was way high". Logic dictates that THEY blew a hose on the same side...probably because it only needed the lesser repair...the hose. So...I would say to anyone looking or considering having work done at this place...watch your wallet...and buyer beware. Not only was this a horribly overpriced adventure...and once my car was there...I was "stuck"...but this is the kind of thing that makes me say...take your car to dealerships...where customers get treated like just that...customers. Not like stupid idiots. These guys are not honest...and frankly...I was ripped off...and taken to the cleaners by these guys. They even waited to give me my invoice until AFTER I paid. Take your car elsewhere and have more piece of mind. Watch how they answer this one. They'll apologize...say this is "one sided" and make excuses. But you tell me...$800 for a used / rebuilt compressor and a hose THEY screwed up? Having to get a rental car because they can't order things properly? Stay away. Do business at your own risk.
Edit...Just as I figured...excuses. Never mind the overpriced "Compressor" (marked as "remanufactured"...but notice how the fact that the hose blew after the compressor was replaced...was not addressed? This tells me that this was a $200 fix...not a $800 in the first place. While your tone may seem ok to you...you absolutely ripped me off. Secondly..."thousands of dollars" weren't spent at the other repair shop...$750 was. Lastly "you didn't address this while in the shop"...because, wrongly, I trusted what you said, you had my keys and truck...fail to pay the invoice...I don't get my vehicle...right? Since...I have researched this...and had the hose on the "one side of the compressor" the same side you said was "reading high pressure" been fixed...without the 100% + mark up (I never said, at all, that a mark up was not proper or understood...but the amount for a "remanufactured" compressor???)...THAT would have been the honest repair...yet you went for the $. Clearly. So while you can smart off to most and act like you "did the honest thing"...you simply didn't. Very obvious...considering you didn't address that issue in your "response". So again...I am not concerned with you being upset...and you more than deserve this public review because of the situation you caused. If people read on you further...they will see I am not the only person questioning your pricing. Don't worry...no apology was ever going to be given.
I was told friday i needed some work on the front of my truck so i fixed all the issues over a 3 day weekend and took it back on tuesday morn my wife was called to come and get my truck and when she got down there she was called a liar to her face in front of a bunch of customers the gentelman told her i did nothing to the truck she said he was very rude to her so i will not be going back down there again.
Stopped in for what I thought would be a 15 minute oil change. Mechanic overtightened oil filter cap. Forgot to put o ring on. They had to order new oil filter unit from Hyundai because they stripped the old cap out. It took them 2 days to get. Was not called when suv was ready. When I went to pick up, they had taken a chisel to remove the original oil filter cap. They were to replace whole unit. With it being plastic, I was afraid with the amount of pressure they had used to try removing old cap, something might be cracked. I got attitude from the owner and after another 4 hours, the new unit installed. Getting a couple of miles away, check engine light came on. I'm taking my Hyundai to the dealer. So a 15 minute oil change turned into 2 days and 4 hours, so far. Plus time taking it to dealer in Hoover. Will I ever take anything back to Moore Brothers? Did I receive an apologue from the owner with the attitude? That would be NO to both questions! I believe a 1 star rating is too high.
I have always been satisfied with Moore Brothers Automotive but today they went above and beyond what was expected of them. I am impressed with their honesty and integrity and I recommend them for your auto repair.
These guys were great, Jim went way beyond trying to fix my car and help me because it needed to be as reasonable as possible. Great work, ready when estimated and reasonable! I will make sure and go here whenever I need repairs!!! Thanks
