[EDIT] Jamie is so sweet and patient although I know she must put up with a lot! I was having one of the worst days ever because I kept running back and forth forgetting things like the impound release form and my ID, and she was so patient.
She even worked with me and allowed me to just email a copy of my ID. It was actually cheaper than I expected, I highly recommend!
Absolute scam artists. My daughter was in a wreck and didn't know how to use our insurance to call for a tow, so the cops called this place. They charged my $650 for a tow of less than 5 miles. They piled on fee after fee after fee. Oh! But if you sign over your car, then you don't have to pay. They know they're doing something quasi-legal too. That's why they've got a guard on the lot. Stay away.
This place is a rip-off and price gauging. Over $345 to to my truck less than a mile. BBB and alabaster need to look into this place. They clearly aren't American and are trying to get rich off everyone.
I called them to tow a A vehicle for me. After two hour waiting for them . Someone called from the office and they say they can’t come and tow the vehicle because they have to go to a police call . Wasted two hours of my time. Hope they never get any business from anyone. Anymore who see this review please don’t call them call somebody else
Horrible. Unprofessional. Charged $315 for 24hr impound. I only had $314 and the lady up front wouldn't take it. Said the "prices were set". So I had to literally go and beg someone for a dollar to get my car out.
This place is horrible! Do not allow the police to call them if you need a tow. On Saturday. I went there with a relative to get his vehicle that they towed around 11:30. We were told that we could immediately get his vehicle. When we arrived, no one was there. We called 4-5 times and for the next 2 1/2 hours, we were told that someone would be there in 15 minutes. When the person arrived, they did not have keys to get into the office, so there was another 30 minute wait. We finally got the vehicle after 3 1/2 hours and was charged $325.00!!! This is highway robbery. If they had done what they promised, the vehicle would have been there less than one hour! They are dishonest; know nothing about customer service and greatly over-charge.
I have used this company's service three times. One time the driver didn't know where to drop my vehicle at the service shop (even though the owner said he'd told Wheeler, which is right across the street, multiple times). Second time was fine - driver was cordial, etc. Third time about 3 times more expensive... My youngest son was being stupid and got busted for something he shouldn't have been doing. So, the city of Alabaster calls Wheeler to tow his vehicle. I have no say in where the vehicle is towed or who tows it (so there's no competitive pricing involved). The vehicle arrives around 9 pm on Saturday and I pick up before 9 am on Monday. (The office is closed Sundays.) The vehicle was there less than 36 hours. They charged me for three full days of storage @ $45 each day ($135 total). Then they charge $225 for the tow, which was only a few miles. Normally this would have cost around $125-$150. I confirmed this with the lady at the desk, and asked why it was so much more expensive when the city asks them to tow the vehicle. She then proceeded to LIE and tell me that's what the city tells them they have to charge. (I called the city and they told me they do NOT tell tow companies what they can charge.) So this company is engaging in PRICE GOUGING simply because they can and then LYING about it. I will never be using their service again.
Best out there! They pulled our garbage trucks out for years and have taken care of my personal vehicles also. Always very professional. Would recommend
They were good fast Alliant and I know what you're doing I recommend anybody to go there smart they will go there cuz these people know what they're doing
We hydroplaned on the interstate and alabaster police department called this company to tow our truck back to their shop until we could get it repaired. When I called alabaster police department the VERY NEXT DAY to figure out which towing company we needed to pick our truck up from, they told us and said that we were NOT allowed to pick up our truck for three days due to a report that needed to be processed by the state (by the way, I have yet to find out what “report” this was). The lady gave us a case number and said we had to have it in order to receive our truck. We waited three days, like the lady at the police department told us to do, and contacted wheelers wreckers to see if our truck was ready yet. Apparently, it was ready to be picked up the day OF the wreck. I then try to tell her our “case number” since I was told it was vital information I needed to pick up our truck and was told “um I don’t do case numbers. I don’t know what that is.” Okay.... then we go to get the truck and find out that since it had been sitting there for three extra days, the total amount charged was $670. (Even though we were TOLD by alabaster police that we could not pick it up for three days). We were on the way to my step daughters birthday party at the time of the wreck, so we gathered all of her presents that were in the truck when we were finally able to get it back so we could take them to her and saw that $20 was taken out of her birthday card. Never in my life would I think that someone could do something like that to a child. I refuse to use this company in the future and will never call alabaster police for any help ever again.
No communication about anything. I called at 830pm (after hours) to be told it would be at least $200 for a 11 hour impound. I get there at 745am. They don't take debit, ($330 total). I go to atm return with $340 to be told they don't have change. The lack of communication is what bothered me most.
Howard wheeler is a very nice individual. He can relate to someone and a situation. They dont overcharge like everyone says, and he isn't a bad person like everyone says. I constantly use their services and everyone I recommend to use them, they've loved them and always used them thereforth. And they DO IN FACT TAKE CREDIT CARDS, ON TOWS. BUT CASH ONLY FOR IMPOUNDS, I asked.
My daughter had an accident in Alabaster last night and handed the officer our AAA card, free towing. He told her a tow truck had already been called. She really did not know any better. $750 for the tow. Don't get taken advantage of and let the Alabaster police call these crooks. Interesting how this little scam works. Wish I could give zero stars.
This tow company is very dishonest and disloyal! The tow driver reversed my vehicle onto his flatbed truck scrubbing my front bumper and cracking it on the far right. I immediately took pictures and video of damage. The driver tells me it can be fixed with bonding glue which was totally unacceptable and prompted me to call owner. The owner refused to handle matter advising it was not his workers fault and to do what I needed to do. I’m all about being fair and I am pursuing further action.
If anyone driving your car in the city of Alabaster has an accident, you will not be contacted before your car is towed. FYI, the police department will have your vehicle towed by one of the two choices in Alabaster without your knowledge or consent. My daughter had an accident in my car on the doorstep of this towing company. They charged an outrageous fee to tow it less than 50 yards. The accident happened on Christmas Eve, I couldn't do anything about it until the day after Christmas so I was charged three days storage. Evens though it was moved asap. Had someone contacted me, there would have been no storage at all!! I had it towed to a local body shop less than 10 miles away. Total charge was over $600.00. Outrageous!!
The guys are the best ! I highly recommend. They have towed my Hummer several times lately due to unforeseen circumstances and the driver was awesome and treated my Hummer as if it was his own. Great job thanks guys !!
These low life crooks tried to charge me 470$ for towing my truck 3 miles. They are the lowest of the low and it shows in their facial expressions. They just look guilty lol. I bet they can hardly sleep at night judging from their sleezy facial expressions.
This company was very courteous...efficient..and understanding. Thanks for getting my family back on the road & on our way to start our vacation. A+ + + + +
