I flipped my vehicle in December of 2024 in rural Alabama while on a hunting trip and I had to get my vehicle towed to a local tow yard while I waited for State Farm to have it moved to Copart for evaluation. Because I was on a hunting trip away from home I was only able to remove some of my more valuable belongings from the vehicle although I was assured by both the initial towing company, State Farm, AND Copart that my vehicle would be untouched until I got there to personally remove my items myself. I made this abundantly clear as my $700 Quiet Kat bike rack was still attached to the hitch and I didn't want it to be removed/go missing. I was again reassured by all parties that none of my things would be distubred. When Copart called and told me the vehicle would be arriving I drove all the way out there from Tuscaloosa just to be told that it wasn't going to be arriving that day once I got to the office. I come back the next day and EVERYTHING I left behind in the vehicle was no longer in it. I tried to inquire with the Copart office personnel who stated that they didn't remove anything from the vehicle and that they didnt have anything that belonged to me. I finally got fed up and threatened to call law enforcement to file a report because the total value of all the items I had to leave behind was around $1000. At first I thought it was a shot in the dark to threaten a police investigation because it was entirely possible that Copart didnt remove my things and that it was the initial tow company or the tow company Copart uses to have the vehicles brought to them /could/ have been the ones that gutted my truck. At least thats what I thought until what came next. Once I made the threat to file a police report one of the office personnel went out back to the salvage area where my truck had been stored overnight (that they wouldnt allow me access to) and started coming out front with some of my missing things. My complete set of all weather floorboards, electric tire pump, and the paperwork such as my tag and registration along with a couple of other non-valuable things etc. So it turns out the whole "we didnt take anything out of your vehicle" was a flat out lie. Then the story changed to "we had take pictures of the interior for insurance purposes." Why would the sunglasses compartment that contained my $300 sunglasses need to be opened and left hanging there in order to do that? I also discovered that my $700 bike rack had been tampered with and the lock that secures it had been opened with the key left in it just dangling there as if someone had been in the process of removing it but was interrupted or couldnt finish the job. The cross bolt was threaded and required more work than just pulling a hitch pin out to remove the rack. I made some calls and ultimately was told there wasn't much I could do aside from filing a separate insurance claim on top of the one I already had going for my vehicle so I chalked it up as a loss and went home. If not for Copart the whole experience could've been quite painless considering I flipped and totaled a truck I absolutely loved. I still have a comprehensive list of everything that I knew was in the vehicle and ended up missing but google wont let me post it with it in the review. I think its because the review is too long with it included. It all totaled around $1000 worth of stuff not including sentimental things with low monetary values. It's approaching a year since this all happened and I am still livid about the whole situation. NEVER use Copart for ANYTHING. If your insurance company tries to have your vehicle towed there INSIST that they change it to ANY another business.

They are absolutely horrific loading the cars. I’ve sat here for 30 minutes and watched them make pieces come off the bottom of vehicles. They are way too rough and if you buy them here come and get them yourself and see how bad it is.

I was working with USAA to get my vehicle repaired following a crash. Co Part was the “preferred” vendor and denied the tow because my vehicle was on the side of the road and not at a secure location. They asked if I could push the disabled vehicle 1/4 mile to the local gas station. I will refuse any future business with this company.

I called them 8am to schedule a pick up. They were supposed to pick my car up between 3pm-5pm. Here it is 6:15 and I'm still waiting in Pelham! I even got off work early to make this happen when I could have been making more money. So I took a loss waiting on there driver to show up.( if the "Administrator Assist" even did her job after she put the phone down when I was talking. We were all young once. We know the sound the phone makes when it's laid down and the person on other end is tired of listen.) So how are we going to resolve this? I have already took screen shots of other customer reviews and drivers who work for you reviews. The next step for me is contacting the BBB and showing evidence why you should not be in business and have there backing. I just bought a new car and I will show how easy it will be to pay off a 21,000 car off in a matter of months thanks to unprofessional behavior. P.S. I'm not from the South. I'm from the North. I want to action First thing Monday morning 2/24/25.My family lawyer told me to give yall until Tuesday afternoon 2/25/25 to make this right. The ball is in your court. Do you want to take the shot or pass the ball? You decided!!!!! You have 89 hours and 2 minutes to make this right . I hope to hear from you soon.

Husband was in a car accident and they came and took his car with all of our personal items in the car. No one answers the phone when I call and now the car is listed online with none of our items in it.

Copart staff stole my belongings. Completely wiped out the glove compartment and the middle compartment. No one cares. No one took responsibility. Allstate sent my car here. They are partially responsible. I will be filing a police report.

Copart staff stole my personal items from my vehicle after it was towed to their lot for vehicle damage evaluation after I got into a wreck. Management has yet to resolve or provide any type of compensation for my personal items. Some of the items taken have sentimental value and I will never be able to replace them. This situation has been going on since November 1st. Unprofessional and untrustworthy people and company as a whole. I also contacted their corporate office and they just told me to contact the location directly. They had me going in circles. The only other option at this point is file a police report because no one is taking this situation seriously. Do not trust this company or the staff. I will be filing a police report!

Bought a car here as a runs and drive from thier app and went to pick it up car started up but didnt pull forward or back word as they say it did went to office and spoke with thier worker andrea which i have spoken with her before very unprofessional person and rude she will not help to resolve the issue ever even if its thier mistake copart has gotten worse with some employees over the years. Definitely need new management. Just helping others know what thier getting into before buying here in birmingham and thier sublot

1 . No shocker. They told me to meet them at 10am with title & keys. FOUR hours later they showed. Dispatcher- RUDE. Customer service rep Heather in a very snotty tone told me to "go sell my car somewhere else" after stating they dont make appts. She then told me to shut up- i was interupting her- but she was the one interupting. I wouldnt work with them and recommend you dont.

Just like other reviews with 1 star, I had my share of the rude and unprofessional customer service agents that answers the phone at this location. My vehicle documents were not found, I was told to ask them to check a specific folder/bin. The first two ladies will give you stupid excuses why they cannot get up from their chair to go check your paperwork, they will hang up on you when you request to speak to a supervisor or a manager. They will ask you to hold, put you on hold for a few seconds and hang up, when you call back they will make excuses why you cannot speak to a supervisor for example no supervisor is available, put you on hold and hang up again. From morning to when they close supervisor is never available. I called the third time and Andrew who works out of a sublot is another unprofessional customer service that works in the title department, they will put notes in your account so the next agent who answers the phone will give you a run around and waste your time. He is rude and does not now his job. I know copart don’t care but in time everyone will know this and patronize other auctions.

The company misleads customers about the drive status of the vehicles, they encourage employees to hide the fact that there is blood, feces or other bios in the car. If the car transmission makes a noise it’s a driver, not actually engage and move the car. Just a noise. I was an employee and seen it first hand. Avoid doing business with them.

Horrible wait time had to 3 hours everytime i pick up a car. Need for fortlift ppl 3 hours wait time is way to much ...thier customer service is garbage they make to many mistakes daily A year later they still slow and not doing thier jobs correctly and do not wat to fix thier mess ups

Rude customer service. I was in an accident a while back and I requested my items from my car to be mailed because I had no form of transportation. I called a few times and made sure my items that were in my car were to be shipped. I received SOME of the items from my car. I called and told the representative I was coming to Copart to retrieve the rest of my belongings. When I arrived, the gentleman was baffled and didn't know I was coming and gave me my license plate which was one of the few items I was picking up. My adjuster has called and emailed and had little to no response. I still want my items back.

7398 - he will load only the preferenced people even if they come after you. He expect to leave him a tip and you'll get loaded faster. P.S. For the inside the building people deserve a 5 star. They do a great job.

Absolutely disgusting place. Do not take your vehicle here they will steal everything in it. My vehicle had loose change in the cup holder and they stole over $100 dollars in change. Searched every corner of my vehicle for money and threw my items and created a mess. The owners are absolutely evil and continue to let this happen as shown by the other reviews. Thieves!!!! A shameful lot of people!!!

Wife’s car was here after an accident. Pictures were taken of the inside of her car with everything inside and then somehow all of that went missing by the time we came back to get everything out. Based on the other reviews that seems to be the way they always run their business. Don’t send your car here with anything important inside. She had a lot of personal items including items she got on our honeymoon that are now impossible to get back. Absolutely horrible place.

Been waiting 3 hrs today even with an appointment 6 hrs last week with an appointment this is the Worst place to load us drivers need to start charging the buyers a $100 fee for having to wait. So they will stop buying cars at this lot

Very disappointed that my vehicle was not secure with this business while awaiting appraisal by my insurance company. I spoke with a lady on the phone at the office and she assured that my car would be safe in a "supposedly" camera secure area. NOT SO!! When I arrived to retrieve my personal items, my trunk was rummaged and items were tossed around. The inside of my car was cleaned out!!! My personal items inside my car had been removed and stolen!!! No one, no t even my insurance company (who sent it there against my wishes), accepted responsibility for my losses. These people do not have trustworthy, nor contracted personnel!!! Protect your valuable property yourself!!!

The high paying customers aren't allowed to use the restroom, you have to use the dirty port a potty out front as I was yelled at when I tried to use the restroom. Also no transporter wants to pick up cars from there as it is just pure chaos for picking up and the transporters have to sit there from morning to night just to pick up a few cars. And I figured out why when I went down there to pick up a car myself. Terrible experience they just need to shut this branch down. Terrible Management.

Arrived 7:30am. Waited till 8:30am with appointment on 8:45am. They sent me to another location 30 miles away. I came there. They are didn’t found my car. Sent me back to the first location. Spent 2 more hours for pick up. Terrible service.

Won a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 in the Birmingham yard on 10/12/2021. Upon inspection of the vehicle before pick up. It appears the vehicle did not start , vehicle showed signs of being tampered with ( brake line cut , Coolant line disconnected , exhaust unbolted from the turbocharger and severe roof damaged to the vehicle. ) see images. None of the items listed above were listed or shown in the 10 pictures provided. As buyers we rely on the accuracy of the listings in order to make our purchases. The yard manager did not appear to have the time to assist us until the issue was brought up to the personnel inside them they made an attempt to help us. We were told they did not have a jump box to verify if the vehicle started and company policy says we can’t use our own. The assistant manager proceeded to tell us that the additional damages are my responsibility and I should have looked at the vehicle before hand. All other copart yard I have had an issue with have resolved this issue by voiding the sale for additional damages found before the vehicle is picked up. None of the items in the images were listed in the initial posting for the vehicle.

This used to be a great place to load cars, but since they started making drivers use the kiosk to sign in you can't get loaded here. 2 hours today and not loaded yet. They very slow and they not let you park in there loading yard

I came here to pick up my vehicle that was stolen and recovered. Waited in line, got everything sorted. Noticed the fork drivers going waaaaay faster than their posted 5mph speed limit, with cars bumping around on the forks. They brought my car out and dropped it in the gravel lot in front of me. I got in and drove it across south 20yards of the bumpy gravel lot, then hit pavement. There was still a lot of gravel strewn across the driveway, so I didn’t notice the flat tire until about 20 feet outside the gate (still in their driveway, right under their sign.) I went back in and told the lady at the desk that copart had popped my tire, likely with their forks. I was told that because it was outside the gate, there was nothing they could do. A guy in a copart truck pulled up and asked us if we had somebody coming to get the car because it’s partially blocking their driveway, and I said hopefully. I don’t have a tire iron or jack because my car was stolen and everything thrown out. I mentioned that copart popped the tire. He said “well you probably ran over something in the gravel. If you run over a nail on the road it’s not the roads fault.” Well then maybe your fork drivers shouldn’t have dropped my car in the gravel lot if you knew it was full of debris that could pop a tire. Reckless and careless company with bad customer service.

As a transporter this location has become the worse of all of them , i heard Houston Tx is the worse but i seem peoples waiting 7 or 8 hours before get load ONE car. My last 2 visit i wait over 5 or 6 hours and not get load it until 7:30pm. Im pretty sure they can do better , my opinion ? The person that runs the auction don't know what he is doing or not care about it.

I drove up to this location from South Texas to pick up a 2019 mustang I purchased which I happily paid a lot of money for because it was in pristine condition. As soon as I drive in the forklift drivers are zooming around unnecessarily fast roughly scooping up vehicles onto the forks, ramming their hoods into the machines with no care. I witnessed them dent a car so I politely asked the front lady to have them drive my vehicle out, rather than put it on the forks. 30 minutes later they bring my vehicle out, with the forklift, and surprise surprise, there’s a huge crack in my bumper right where the fork is and scratches in the paint. I showed the front lady the pictures of the car when I purchased it, with no crack in the bumper. She publicly yelled at the workers, admitted it was their fault, but said there was nothing they would do to help except give us some free storage time which does nothing for the current situation. It is absolute nonsense that could’ve been avoided with just a bit of care and now I’ll have to pay a thousand dollars extra to fix the front end and repaint it. It’s unbelievable they’re allowed to do business this way, shame on them. Doug Cooper, the manager, didn’t even leave his office to speak with us but made the front lady tell us his “decision”. He’s a shameless man who should have no power with the way he does business. People shouldn’t treat each other that way.

They do take You in earlier and nobody mentioned anything about me showing up two hours earlier then my scheduled appointment time. They do have lumper and thats the worst thing about them. 1st You pay then You wait then You get a receipt and then You wait for Your bills for at least twenty minutes. But considering the fact that my appointment was 9am and now it is 9am and I am waiting for bills already I cant complain.

The place is pretty average however the staff are friendly and helpful. My white time here is usually about 20 to 30 minutes but once I'm loaded it's hardly a problem leaving. The wait time on the inside is very minimal. I think the longest I have waited on the inside was about 15 minutes. I'm not sure how long you have to wait if you go in the early morning hours but if you get there around 10 I am it usually goes pretty quick. Hope you have an easy time getting in and out.
