I had heard of this shop by word of mouth and was excited to get my car in. The excitement sure went away after an entire 10 days of my car sitting there, with no outreach from the office or a diagnosis for my car. I don't know anyone who could just be patient for ten days without a ride. Thankful that I had family to help out.
I was constantly calling as well as my boyfriend just to get a proper answer only to hear "let me call you back". The only actionable redemption was finally getting a real answer on what was wrong with my car as well as getting the diagnosis free of charge DUE to the lack of communication on their end. I did not move forward with their quote, it was almost $3000 for a timing chain. This establishment is much too disorganized for car services.
It seems to me based off the reviews, you must know them to get the good work done. It's unfortunate!
Billy was awesome to work with. All of the men I had interaction with were kind and very knowledgeable. They called me up front with all prices and gave me options on what to do. I will definitely use them in the future.
Reviews looked good. Thought the pricing was good. Poor, poor communication and then very, very rude about it when we asked why no one would EVER call us back. We have 3 other vehicles we are looking to get serviced. Did not offer an explanation just said “well it’s ready now you want to are not” Told us the price which was the 3rd different amount but still seemed fair. Then the short man got irritated even more when we asked what repairs they did. The short guy was the only rude one who I think is in charge. Everyone else was nice. We were told the repair would take a week but it was just shy a day of being two weeks. The wait was inconvenient but we know things come up and just was shocked no one ever called us we always had to call them to find out what was going on. And then would have to call back because no one knew. Feel bad for Mr Evans because I’m dint think that is the service he wants people to have.
We recently took our older vehicle here after noticing the shop was very clean and seeing their decent Google reviews, which gave us confidence to give them a try. Unfortunately, our experience ended up being very frustrating.
The car was kept for almost two weeks, and during that time we were rarely given updates unless we called ourselves. We were told several times that the car would be ready by a certain day, only to be told later on that no work had even been started yet? Very confusing and misleading.
We completely understand that parts can take time, but the lack of honest communication and the repeated “it’ll be ready tomorrow” promises made the process extremely stressful.
The car was eventually finished, and we truly hope the work was done well. However, the way the situation was handled — especially the rude and unprofessional response when we asked for clarification — left us very disappointed. Clear communication and basic courtesy go a long way, and unfortunately, that was missing here.
We wanted to like this shop based on first impressions, but our overall experience just didn’t match the reviews we had read.
We came in to get a Pre Purchase inspection they did it in 15 minutes found exactly what was wrong and didn’t even charge us. These guys are top end and very kind. We will definitely be coming back for the maintenance we did find and I highly recommend them for anyone in the area.
I recently took my dad’s truck to Autoship to have the A/C worked on. The repair ended up being a bit more expensive than I expected, but I chose this shop because I wanted a place that was reliable and trustworthy. They explained everything clearly and made sure to use original Toyota parts, which gave me peace of mind knowing the job was done right. The A/C is now working great, and even though it wasn’t the cheapest option, the quality of work and the confidence that it was repaired properly made it worth it.
I have been doing business with Evans Automotive for many years. They do quality work at a fair price. I would recommend them highly for your car or truck service needs.

Evans Automotive went above and beyond! Managed to find my oil leak in less than 30 min. Made a plan to get it fixed the next day. Every other place I went to needed me to leave my car for 3-5 days to find it. Not only was the customer service amazing and fast the price was great as well!! Will be coming back for sure!! They were amazing. I pulled up to talk to Mr. Steve. I told him what my truck was doing and he told me what he thought it could be. He gave me an estimate and a time frame and it was exactly as he told me. They also went above and beyond and even fixed my broken taillight.
The problem with reviews is that we cannot respond to whatever BS the respondent says to try and polish the bad review but here's my take from a recent visit.
I do NOT recommend this place.
Diagnostics are not free and they will charge you almost $150 regardless if you already know the issue.
Their fees are as high as a dealership and will quote things that do not need to be replaced. They do not use competitive parts pricing and will list parts that are also dealership costs.
When I spoke with the service manager, I told him the issue and that the AC compressor went out on my car. I told him that I needed a quote and he asked to see the vehicle to verify the issue and give me a quote. I work two full-time jobs so I sent my 16-year-old with the car. She keeps one of my credit cards for emergencies in her phone case and was asked for payment. Unfortunately, she assumed the $150 fee was legit and didn't question or call me in advance to dispute the charge.
I called the service manager to dispute the charge and was told it was a mandatory charge. $150 to look at my car for 30 min. (equivalent to $300/hour) and YES, my daughter's location is ON so I have proof she was only there 30 minutes even though he disagreed.
This shop charged me to tell me what I already knew and the quote to fix an AC compressor was almost $3000.
If I wanted dealership prices and deal with shadiness, I would have taken it to a dealership.
Not sure how this place stays open when they aren't competitive.

In December I was driving to church when I saw an 'error' message & 'transmission' message. I got to church safely. Since I live only a few miles, I decided to drive it back home. Thankfully, through God, I made it back home safely. I had only used Evans for an oil change and was pleased with their service. I live 30 miles from Dothan. I called Evans on Monday to see if they had wrecker service. They did but due to unforeseen circumstances on their part, they couldn't send their wrecker. Instead, a couple days later they arranged for a wrecker with a company they deal with, to come tow my car. It turns out I did not have a transmission problem, it was a rodent who chewed some wires. My car was repaired at a reasonable cost. The towing was quite reasonable also. When I needed help, Evans worked with my situation and helped me. Many companies ask on their review questionnaire, did they make you feel valued as a customer. Evans did not ask that but I will tell you, the men at Evans I dealt with made me feel as though I had been a customer of theirs for years. I so appreciate their help and will continue to be their customer. I highly recommend them. This review is from a woman senior citizen who appreciates a business who will help when I need it. These are some old school mechanics that can get you going again (within limits of course). I went in with a loose heat shield. They patched it in 15 minutes and didn't charge me a thing. Now that I have received a $50 coupon in the mail from them, I am taking my business right back there to get it fixed properly. They say it will need a new heat shield and gas tank strap. I know what those cost and am prepared to pay for the real repair.
They were able to get us in same day, are friendly, and were able to assist with my car in a matter of minutes. They explained what the issue was before doing anything and wound up doing it free of charge. I will definitely be using them in the future and would highly recommend them.

My Audi needed new brake pads as well and I didn’t have the extra funds to get them, so Evan Automotive put brake pad on my car for me and did charge me for them. Brought in 1999 Nissan Frontier with 59,000 miles. Haven't used a mechanic in years but after getting the run around on my particular issue, Called Evans and they sounded confident in handling my problem. According to Google I had a parasitic drain as my battery was dying every 2 days. Replaced battery, alternator, at wits end. Previous owner added an auxiliary horn to truck that quit working so just wasn't sure. Dropped it off to Evans and they got me running 24 hours later. Loose alternator belt from stripped bolt. For less than 200$ they fixed my problem and auxiliary horn! One shop told me 110$ per hour electrical diagnostic fee! Also, I thought I needed ball joints. Good to go there to! They told me mine were good. Saved me money and time! Honest as the day is long. Even gave me a lift home. Old school Service at Evans Automotive.
Evans Automotive Services was professional quick and helpful. I enjoyed using their services because I was able to drop my vehicle off in the late morning and walk back to the hospital where I was working at the time. I was able to pick up my vehicle after work pretty easily by walking back to Evans automotive services. They fixed my front brakes (pads) for $201. In lake city tire kingdom I was quoted $175. But with Evans they had a great location and quick service and were professional. Sometimes you must pay just a bit extra for professional service. Good work isn’t cheap. This is reasonable. They offered both military discount and student discount (I’m in the US Navy and in medical school). Anyway, highly recommend.
