My second trip we rented highbanker four four hour and found gold I haven't cleaned all my concentrates so can't give a weight, love the camp and will return in the spring
Great place to lean a little about getting some gold!!! Fun Adventure! Beautiful creek and rocks are so unique and pretty.Gold prospectors are so helpful and nice. If you want the gold rent the high banker and have at least a few friends not afraid to dig dirt! Hard work! 20 five gallon buckets per hour with a crew of 4. We got gold! We did it!!!!!
I visit with my 90 year old dad and son about once a year and really enjoy the stay. The team and the other visitors are nice and easy to get along with.
Very relaxing and peaceful, most people you encounter are friendly and respectful. Absolutely worth the trip. You will, if you try, actually find some gold also.
We had fun renting a highlander and panning for gold. They have a lot of equipment to rent or buy. Cabins were clean and had two beds and instant hit water showers. We enjoyed the company of others around the campfire. The general store was authentic. Everyone was super nice.
An enjoyable experience. The staff here is super friendly and more than welcome to help. The area is well kept and maintained.
There are courtesy piles to run for gold. I've never had a great run, but I always find gold here. It's not much, but it is something.
This is a long drive for me, but I do enjoy making a trip down here every now and then. I'm sure I'll be back next season for more enjoyment.
Rented a cabin that was rustic but clean. Only $5 to spend a full day panning or digging if you don't spend the night. A great place off the beaten path where you can pan for gold and play in the creek and woods. Quiet and comfortable with no crowd.
It would have been so much nicer if the lady would have explained the way it works. I was referred by the hotel we stayed in. I spent $40 and I specifically told her I just wanted my son to have fun but, not spend a ton of $. We bought a shovel, tray & bottle. We got down to an area to find out you can rent a covered area w/ running water for 2hr with a loaner shovel for 2hrs costing $25 or 4hrs costing $50. Luckily a man knew about everything and explained it to us. I explained I could not walk far to the lady. She didn’t try to help, give tips nor advice. All of the equipment is pretty pricy so bring your own. The gentleman sitting outside was so welcoming and very friendly. There’s atv’s all over but of course I don’t know why. If a worker drives by they do not offer assistance nor notice you standing there needing help. I know better now. This is the 4th time we’ve done this type of excursion and the other places were great and accommodating. I have 3 stars because the gentleman in the rocker. I would have left one otherwise.
My favorite place to play in the creek, hunt for cool rocks, garnets and try my hand at panning for gold. Great place to camp with small kids. There are shade trees along the creek. There are two bathrooms midway. They have high bankers you can rent with pay dirt close by to process. A general store with supplies for panning, drinks and some snacks. They also have a few small cabins for rent as well.
My family just went over Thanksgiving and we had alot of fun. The office sells all the supplies you need if you don't have e your own and also rents the bigger items. Not sure if we found gold but there was lots of shiny things amd a man was there with his homemade dredge/sleuthing machine and he said he was doing well. There is alot of garnet there that we got which are black/brown small rock balls that when you break open there is red inside. We also collected alot of other cool rocks as well. The cabins had heat and ac. It was cold ? when we were there like down in the 30s but the cabin was nice and warm. The beds were full size but very comfy. The cabin did have a musty smell but hey its a cabin that's to be expected. I got a candle from the local DG and it made it smell amazing. So if you get cabin #4 and it smells delicious, you're welcome lol. There is also a sweet black and white kitty that hangs around and greets all the visitors. It was definitely fun to do and I can now say I went panning for gold. The internet is almost non existent there lol but who cares, your not there to sit on your phone unless your taking pictures :)
I loved it. Lots of space. Easy to park. It was very clean , and the grass was not tall. Lots of panning equipment at the store and some snacks. They were friendly and helpful. I'm ready to go back.
I was pleased with the price on everything from in shop to the rate to set up camping every night, we aren't pros but we did find a few traces of gold with our first pan and lots of garnet, nothing fancy but the place seemed very well kept and the grass was healthy and appealing, we will return again.
We pulled up late in the day unprepared. The staff were super friendly and quick to describe their setup. They don't take cards, so we went into town to use the ATM and it started raining, so we bailed. We would like to go back with our own shovels and buckets and rent a highbanker for a few hours. Maybe rent a cabin so we could get an early start. It's pretty easy to find if you go East on Blakes Ferry Rd until the first stop sigh, a 4 way, at New Harmony Church, turn right on Cragford Rd. Turn left right after the railroad bridge and look for the camp on the right.
I love the place. But i found no gold panning or detecting. Fun and good for camping and pic nic but they said gold is fine i barley showed black sand at all. Lots of fools gold it makes the creek sparkle but if yr looking for nuggets or getting rich forget it. Cabins for rent or camping. Looks good for familys kids run off some steam lots of room beautiful property and its huge. Lots of old mining equipment. Its fun butt. Don't expect "YUKON GOLD"Rich.. Who knows maybe you'll get a 4 oz nugget. No matter what its worth checkin out cause it is very cool..

Friendly folk and a quiet place to camp n get away from the outside world for a bit.
Showers and bathrooms available as well as a large pavilion with many tables & chairs. And laundry facilities, too.
If u need wifi, the general store is just a short walk away.
My family loves this camp! It is a great place to fish, swim and dig for gold. The girls even enjoyed riding their bikes there. We go monthly to camp and dig for gold.
Very beautiful and lots to do including trails to walk ,ride, and camping. There has been nuggets found there . Rental equipment for mining available. Primitive camping and RV park there.
Great place, stayed here for a week. Wonderful people, alot of gems to find, especially black garnets. Flour gold is here and you will have alot of fun and peace and quite in the evening.
There for a baptism. Visitors where very respectful turned down their dreg so we could have the baptism. If you love nature you should check thid place out. Owners are very nice male you feel at home away from home.
10/12/2009: Visited & Stayed for a few days with my gold prospecting pal, the old man Rudy. They have just about everything you need plus equipment rentals, sheds set up with pumps & everything you need to "wash dirt and rocks" as I call it. Don't let the owner(?) old prospecter fella who runs the place fool you: he is a graduate geologist who found the fault in the river that paid for all this and more - talk to him, he'll give ya' interesting tales and advice to find gold. While we didn't find any, just mostly black sand, I'm sure there was plenty of "flour gold" we didn't get. There ARE semi-precious gemstones, and we found several. We had a good time camping - bring your mosquito spray, T.P., & dry underwear, etc, and for an interesting time talk to the folks who live & work around there. A bit rough on the edges, fairly primitive at the time ('09), but there is water, toiletry, etc - the essentials, plus more at the store if you wanna go that way. This is a GREAT place for family trips last I saw - they have made everything comfortable and family friendly for the family that wants to try their hand at some "professional" grade prospecting without having to go to a lot of work (e.g. hard digging & mining). And they certainly are friendly about giving tips. A good day trip just for fun, or a couple overnighters if you wanna get serious about it. Didn't hit enough "paydirt" to pay for the trip, but if you count a fun & friendly adventure I did!
This place was awesome, going back again next year, only 5 Dallas to get in, and yes we found gold, , we brought back home and paned it out at home. And got our gold, you can camp there, there's restrooms, a few cabins to rent, one is pet friendly, you can rent equipment there or bring your own, it's great for the family,couple,or if your just driving by, we had a blast
