Unethical Billing, Hostage Tactics — Trucking Companies Beware
This review reflects our direct documented experience with this company.
We hired them for load shift / freight rework services. In three recorded calls, we confirmed a rate of $750 per hour.
Driver arrived 9:00 AM and they did not start working until 9:20 AM. The job was fully completed by 11:40 AM — a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Despite this, they invoiced us for 4 full hours + $100 for lumber = $3,100.
When we questioned the invoice and asked for clarification, we were told “That’s the price — pay now” with no explanation and no breakdown. They then physically blocked our semi-truck at their yard, stating that if we didn’t pay immediately, they would add even more charges for our truck being there.
In our professional opinion, this is predatory, unethical, and completely unprofessional. There is no way to avoid this kind of treatment except by not using them at all.

Very professional. My car had given me trouble in a drive thru line. A friend came to get me going enough to get home. Called the next day to get wrecker service to deliver car to dealership. He was able to drive car on the roll on bed!!

My car broke down and I was in a really tough spot. This miracle named Joe came to my rescue and he was the absolute sweetest. I was frantic and panicking and he remained calm and talked to me in a very soothing manner, which reassured me that everything would be okay! If it wasn’t for Kirkland Wrecker Service and for Joe, I don’t know what I would’ve done. If you have any car trouble and you want someone to be there in a timely manner, I definitely recommend this company! 10/10 would go through them again!
Jeremy was a very courteous and prompt representative for Kirkland. he was patient with us and made sure that we had great service and bringing us the requested package. he worked very safely and made sure that we was well informed of any procedures that was needed to take place moving forward.
Showed up to save the day as my sons truck broke down on the side the busy interstate on Independence Day weekend. Driver was very helpful and even recommended a local mechanic who fixed my son’s truck in no time. Great company!
Kirkland moves some very unique equipment for me 3-4 times per month. These machines can be extremely heavy (up to 101k lbs) and are very difficult to load onto any trailer. Todd ( my normal Kirkland driver) does an amazing job of keeping me informed and getting things done in a safe and timely manner.

My oldest son and i were coming from Montgomery, On Saturday July 6, around 2pm on I-65 northbound, heavy traffic, rainy weather, parked on the right shoulder, about a mile before alabaster exit, an angel arrived named Joe with Kirkland wrecker service!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe was amazing, he pulled over to assist bc that's his job he stated, Kirkland wrecker service is contracted with the state of Alabama to assist stranded motorists for safety purposes, AT NO CHARGE, on a specific stretch of the interstate between specific exits north/southbound where there seems to be the most motorists seems to be stranded, to take them to the next exit to be near gas, food, restrooms until they can get further service
Prior to Joe arriving, I had already called my roadside assistance, which had given me approximate 1- 1-1/2 hour ETA which wasn't bad considering the weather +traffic
I contacted my tow service to ask I'd they'd like Kirkland to take me off highway and wait for them, he said it's OK to wait driver 10-15 minutes away
But angel Joe said that's fine, I'm not leaving you here until your service arrives!!!! And get this.....he waited with us on the rain!!!!!

My daughter was traveling home from Troy and has a blowout on the interstate. I drove down to her and found out she does not have a spare . I call my insurance to set up roadside service that I pay for and they informed me it would be a minimum two hours before anyone could get to me . So I typed in wrecker services, Kirkland popped up and with in ten minutes Vinny was loading the car up . He got me to a tire shop and went out of his way to make sure everything was ok . I made a new friend on this day . Vinny was great and I really appreciate his help , kindness , professionalism and any other accolade I could say about him . One day lunch will be on me Vinny.

Had the unlucky pleasure of getting broke down on the interstate. Had a heater hose burst. Cars could not care less and were buzzing by me without getting over. While I was under the hood, Vinny, a driver for them stopped with his lights on and offered a hand in looking for the problem. He even towed my truck to the next exit for me so I could fix it in a safe location. He also pointed me in the direction of the auto parts places around there. Can’t say enough about how much I appreciate his help! Great worker
I was stranded at the rest area in Chilton County and made a call to Wade and he was very efficient at getting someone to me as soon as possible. The driver was very friendly and very professional. My boyfriend and I had a flat tire on 65 Saturday and Joe pulled up right on time. Not only did he help block the speeding traffic on 65 but he assisted my boyfriend changing the tire and got us on our way quickly. Joe saved us. Nice guy and very helpful.

Have you ever been stuck on the side of the highway while towing a 42’ fifth wheel 7 hours from home? I have, and Wade saved us. It’s not everyday a company can get your fifth wheel off the highway to somewhere safe. 10/10 recommend
I run a junk removal business, and on my way home after a long day of emptying my truck and dump trailer, my truck died in rush hour traffic, stuck in the median in Pelham and blocking traffic. I called Kirkland Wrecker Service, and they arrived very quickly. The driver was incredibly professional and efficient, lifting my work truck onto his wrecker and attaching his rig to my dump trailer to pull me back home. I truly appreciate their fast response and professionalism. Highly recommend this company for any towing needs!

I believe the tow operator's name was Vinny. Even though I interrupted his fishing on a Saturday with his kids, he was quick to respond, professional, and very friendly. The cost was a little more than elsewhere, but I'm glad I called them.
Kirkland Wrecker Service acted with little regard for basic human kindness after my friend tragically lost her mother and went to retrieve her mother’s vehicle. After suffering a tremendous loss just three days prior, she was met with unhelpful staff and inconsiderate behavior during a time of grief. I hope the next time they encounter a similar situation, they choose kindness rather than burdening a grieving human.
I was very disappointed with how these folks handled a tragic situation involving the death of a loved one. Business is just that, but it takes so little so show compassion to another human. Can’t say I have a complaint with the drivers or the tow itself, but the operators here seem to only care about the dollars they can extort you for.
If you’re looking for a local business with family values and great customer service I can assure you that was not what we got today.

Kirkland had an opportunity today to show empathy and kindness at the loss of a loved one. Instead they showed their disregard for their fellow human and put business before family.
I would never recommend this organization, and I hope no one there is ever in the situation I was put in today after the untimely death of my mother.
I entirely understand that they are a business and their purpose is to make money. But that is their only purpose. They do not serve their customers. They seek only greed.
I had broke down on I-65 in clanton, Al in my 18 wheeler. Jon came out and rescued me! He was fast and very polite , he got me off the interstate fast to a repair shop. He offered to stop and get me something to eat . Very fair on pricing and had very nice equipment. I definitely suggest he needs a raise! Thank y’all for helping me!

My experience with this towing company was great. Kevin who happened to be the drive who helped me tow my semi truck was the best i have ever seen. No words can describe my experience with Kevin . Good sense of humor and professional.. without Extra charges, Kevin stopped loves truck stop on the way to fuel up my reefer trailer so I don’t run out of diesel while truck is getting fixed. He also helped aa local number that delivers Diesel in case repair takes longer then expected. Chargers was reasonable for tow service
