If I had a choice they wouldn't even get ONE star. I had to just to make this review.
I Just Called for a yellow brass estimate. The gentleman quoted $1.10. I informed him of my other estimates which were $2.08 and he hung up on me. I will NOT be doing business with them nor will I recommend them to anyone. This was extremely poor business and poor customer service. ABSOLUTELY DISRESPECTFUL!
I got there at a hour and half before closing time and they were rude about that. The worst part is that the window guy straight up stole 100$ from me. I painstakingly stripped copper wire off the insulation , the guy at the scale yelled out to him " NUMBER 1 COPPER " so & so pounds. When I got home I thought to myself something is off , he put down NUMBER 2 COPPER instead . My total would have been doubled.
Watch the weight of your metals, the scale operator paid me for 50lbs of electric wire that was 75% recoverable at the 45% recoverable price and the scale weight was 68 lbs.
In additons to that, being my first time dealing with these guys and assuming they were legit - half a truck bed of copper tubing was paid at 90lbs, when we weighed the truck at the truck stop down the road we were cheated out of 125lbs on the copper tubing, we weighed the load the night prior at 215lbs. I should have know when I asked the weight and he asked its on your ticket that something wasn't right.
I wont be back and plan to file a complaint with the bbb. Go to Roanoke and sell your metal, they of load it an weight it in front of you so you know what you are getting.
Prices are good ..better than the other 2 scrap yards I use .I've always had good experiences here. You can't expect them to unload every vehicle that shows up ...I would definitely recommend
Would never take another piece of metal there...pulled in. Had to unload it myself. Then put it in there bids...All the while ones sitting on forklift eating. Go to get paid and there's a 20 cent difference in them and Forttenberry's I was there yesterday...on 86 lbs I left on table...then go to get paid and he hands me a check.. I don't take checks...pay me cash..I wouldn't recommend this business for anything...Fortenberry's is worth the drive! Trust me...
